Global User Station
What is GUS?
Global User Station (GUS) is the powerful and intuitive humaninterface to the Honeywell TotalPlant Solution (TPS) system.
This Microsoft Windows NT-based station makes plantwideinformation easily accessible so you have the business and
control information you need to make better products andincrease profits.
Platform Description
Each GUS connects to the TPN through either an LCNP or
LCNP4 interface. Each GUS also has a built-in Ethernet 10/100BaseT connection to connect it to an existing 10/100 BaseT PIN,or Honeywell Network Services can set up the proper 10/100BaseT hub, router, etc., for a new PIN.

Unit
Units are used to divide points for alarmand message purpose and to define the
limits of the operator controlresponsibility.
If the unit is not assigned to the station
the operator can only look at the point inthe unit.
There can be up to 100 Units per LCN

An AREA is a portion of the processplant typically operated by one operator.
An LCN can have maximum 10 Areas.

Area Database
Area Database is a file that is loaded in to the GlobalUser Stations memory during a NODE LOAD orAREACHANGING operation.
Area Database tells which units the operator cancontrol.
A TPS system can contain up to 10 possible areas.The HM will contain 10 Area Database directories(&D01 to &D10) in the system.
The Database file is internally named as AREA01.DAto AREA10.DA
The name of the areas are configured inAREANAMES in ENGINEERING MAIN MENU.
Each Area Database resides in theAREAnn.DA file.

Role of&ASY
Several of the files in directory &ASY are accessed each time a node isreloaded and restarted.
When a node is loaded, the location of the &ASY directory to be used iseither implicitly stated (the source is the US that is initiating the load), orexplicitly stated, as being on the network (NET) or on a specific cartridgedrive ($Fn).
When a node starts up, the &ASY directory is accessed for information onthe system configuration (NCF.CF file) by the node administratorsoftware.
Honeywell supplies two versions of the &ASY directory on cartridges.
The "startup" &ASY is set up with all LCN nodes as USs, and is usedonly to get the first US started, before anything else has been configured.The second version is the "empty" NCF version. It is this second versionthat is used from System Startup on which the NCF.WF and NCF.CF filesare build for your specific system.
