Getting Started
Welcome to TPRI - Tejas LEE
TPRI and Tejas LEE are database applications that help you manage your early reading assessment data generated by the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) and the Spanish version of that assessment, the Tejas LEE. Below are screen shots of the first pages you see when you enter either TPRI or Tejas LEE. The options listed represent the major components of the application.

Getting Around Option Title Under each option is a brief description of what can be done if the option is selected. An option is selected by positioning the mouse over the option title and click the left mouse button. Menus Options can also be selected using the Main Menu displayed on the left side of the screen.
Navigation Bar The is one more way to navigate through the CIA application. A navigation bar is always displayed on the screen. It represents the path (which is sometimes referred to as "bread crumbs") you have taken to get to the current screen. The words shown on the bar can be clicked on to take you to other pages you have already visited. The following is a sample navigation bar:

When you first choose Data Entry from the Menu on the left, the following screen will appear: TPRI

Input Fields Campus (Required) Depending on the user role (district or campus level) you have been assigned, a campus will be displayed or you will need to select from a list of campuses. If you have multiple campuses, click the down arrow or type a letter and then use the down arrow to select a campus. Grade (Required) Depending on your user role (teachers will only see their own their own grade level) you will need to select from a list of grades. If you have multiple grades,

click the down arrow or type a letter and then use the down arrow to select a grade. Teacher (Required) Depending on your user role (teachers not see a Teacher drop down list) you will need to select from a list of teachers. If you have multiple teachers, click the down arrow or type a letter and then use the down arrow to select a teacher. When you are finished choosing a value for all the input fields, a list of students will appear. Click on screening or inventory (or resumen de calificaciones for Tejas LEE) to input your reading data.

Screening
The Screening looks a bit differently for each grade level. However, the process of entering your information is the same
Choose the Administration Date o Beginning of Year (BOY) o Middle of Year (MOY) o End of Year (EOY) o HINT: You can automatically choose today's date by clicking on the
(Today) link to the right of the drop down boxes for the date fields
Choose the appropriate score from each screening task and the Developed - Still Developing (D/SD) column will populate automatically for you
Click the button to save your changes and return to the list of students
Click the button to save your changes and move on to the Inventory and Reading Comprehension screen

Inventory
The Inventory looks a bit differently for each grade level. However, the process of entering your information is very similar.
Choose the student's score for each task in the column corresponding to the appropriate time of year and the Developed - Still Developing (D/SD) column will populate automatically for you.
o Beginning of Year (BOY) o Middle of Year (MOY) o End of Year (EOY)
Grades 1 - 3: In the Reading, Accuracy, Fluency, and Comprehension
section the software will calculate the Reading Fluency Rate for you. When you click in the box to enter the score, the Fluency Rate Webpage Dialog window will appear to allow you to enter the number of words in the passage, the number of errors the student made, and the number of seconds the student took to read the passage. When you click the Calculate button the correct Fluency Rate will be automatically entered into the box for you.
Choosing the Jumping-In checkbox will allow you to save any score in which the student is Developed from the Beginning of the Year Inventory to the Middle of the Year and End of the Year. This is an OPTIONAL feature.
Click the Save button to save your changes and return to the list of
students. Kindergarten: Note the Book and Print Awareness (Optional) section at the top of the Inventory.

Resumen de Calificaciones
The Resumen de Calificaciones looks a bit differently for each grade level. However, the process of entering your information is very similar.
Choose the student's score for each Destrezas (skill) in the column corresponding to the appropriate time of year and the Nivel de logro (D, NE, or NI) column will populate automatically for you.
o Principio del año o Mitad del año o Final del año
Choosing the Jumping-In checkbox will allow you to save any score in
which the student is Developed (Desarrollado) from the Principio del año to the Mitad del año and Final del año. This is an OPTIONAL feature.
Grades 1 - 2: In the Exactitud de lectura, Fluidez y Comprensión de lectura section the software will calculate the Proporción de la fluidez for you. When you click in the box to enter the score, the Fluency Rate Webpage Dialog window will appear to allow you to enter the number of words in the passage (numero de palabras leidas), the number of errors the student made (numero de palabras leidas incorrectamente), and the number of seconds the student took to read the passage (numero de segundos en el que se leyo el pasaje). When you click the Calculate button the correct Fluency Rate (Proporción de la fluidez) will be automatically entered into the box for you.
Click the Save button to save your changes and return to the list of students.

Class Summary
The TPRI and Tejas LEE Class Summaries provide a list of students and their results for the selected administration. Each task and the score for Developed for that task is listed at the top of the report as column headings. Kindergarten:

The Tutorial List by Task Report lists all students that are Still Developing in each task. Each student's score is displayed to the right of the student's name. Kindergarten:

State Report
The TPRI and Tejas LEE applications assist administrators in completing their annual early reading report to TEA. This report is updated yearly with TEA requirements. Choosing State Report will produce the following:

Parent Letters
Parent Letters
The TPRI and Tejas LEE software will allow you to print letters to parents about students' reading progress in both English and Spanish for one student, a selected group of students, or all students. Each letter will be printed on a separate page. Use the following steps:
Choose the Campus, Grade Level, and Teacher
Click the checkbox for all students in the Student List Window or click the checkboxes to the left of individual student names.
Choose the Version (language)
Choose the Administration (Beginning, Middle or End)
Choose the Format (HTML -- web version or PDF -- print version)
Click the Finish button
