Field Exploration Procedures
Our field exploration for this project included three (3) hand excavated holes completed on March 11,
2013. The approximate exploration locations are shown on the Site Plan (Figure 1). The exploration
locations were determined by measuring distances from existing site features by pacing. Ground surface
elevations referenced on the test pit logs were inferred from available information. The location of the test
holes and elevations should be considered accurate only to the degree implied by the means and methods
used.
SSGC personnel excavated the test holes. Soil samples were collected and stored in moisture tight
containers and transported to a subcontracted soil laboratory for testing. Test holes were backfilled with
excavated soils and tamped. Please note that backfill in the excavations may settle with time.
The following test holes logs indicate the observed lithology of soils and other materials observed in the
excavations. Where a soil contact was observed to be gradational, our log indicates the average contact
depth. Our logs also indicate the approximate depths of groundwater (where observed), along with
sample numbers and approximate sample depths. Classification of the soils indicated on the logs are in
general accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.

Laboratory Testing
Select soil samples were tested to measure grain size distribution. Construction Testing Laboratories of
Puyallup, Washington performed the grain size distribution testing. Results of the laboratory testing are
included in this appendix.
