The Camry SE/XLE/Hybrid offers an optional backup monitor to help drivers see any and all obstacles behindtheir vehicle. The Accord Sedan doesn’t offer any parking assist system. Both the Camry and the Accord Sedan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impactairbags, head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, fourwheel antilock brakes, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and available traction control. Transmission

For more complete vehicle control the Camry offers an optional manually controlled automatic, with the availableconvenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without theinconvenience of a clutch. A manually controlled automatic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts andmaximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. The Accord Sedan doesn’t offer an automatictransmission that allows complete gear control. A six-speed automatic is available on the Toyota Camry, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on thehighway. Only a five-speed automatic is available for the Accord Sedan. The Camry offers an available continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it cankeep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely formaximum acceleration. The Accord Sedan doesn’t offer a CVT.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Camry’s standard front brake rotors are larger than those on the Accord Sedan: Camry Accord SedanFront Rotors 11.57 inches 11.1 inches

The Camry stops much shorter than the Accord Sedan:

The Camry SE handles at .80 G’s, while the Accord Sedan EX-L pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a MotorTrend skidpad test. The Camry SE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Accord Sedan EX (27.8 seconds@ .61 average G’s vs. 28.3 seconds @ .58 average G’s). For better maneuverability, the Camry’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Accord Sedan’s (36.1 feet vs. 37.7feet).

The Camry has 1.1 inches more rear legroom and .5 inches more rear shoulder room than the Accord Sedan. For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Camry XLE’s rear seats recline. The Accord Sedan’s rear seatsdon’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Camry has a larger trunk than the Accord Sedan (15 vs. 14 cubic feet). The Camry’s standard folding rear seats are split to accommodate bulky cargo. The Accord Sedan’s standardsingle piece folding rear seat is not as flexible; long cargo and a passenger can’t share the rear seat.

Servicing Ease

The Camry uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Accord Sedan 4 cyl. uses a prop rodto support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the wayduring maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on theperson maintaining or servicing the car.

Ergonomics

The Camry offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The Accord Sedandoesn’t offer a remote starting system. The Camry’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it moreconvenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The AccordSedan’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically. With the Accord Sedan LX-P/EX’s powerwindows, only the front windows open or close automatically. The Camry has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automaticallyturn on at dusk and off after dawn. The Accord Sedan has an automatic headlight on/off feature standard only onthe EX-L. A manual rear sun shade is standard in the Camry XLE to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. TheAccord Sedan doesn’t offer a rear sun shade. Both the Camry and the Accord Sedan offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the CamryXLE/Hybrid has standard rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Accord Sedan LX doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.
