Your child will keep his/her laptop for several years ________________________________________________
We will collect the laptops at the end of the school year If the laptop is needed during the summer it can be arranged
through the Cluster Office at the Principal’s discretion

Acceptable Use Policy
Governs the use of any DISD owned computer Contract between student and DISD Designed for student safety, protection of DISD
property Teachers and all staff abide by same policy Students who violate the policy will lose their
laptops. Repeat violations may result in permanent loss of laptop privileges.

What we see in laptop damages

What we see in AU violations

DISD Tracking and Monitoring
DISD monitors the use of laptops Theft Recovery Data management (including music & videos) Software Installations DISD does not monitor web cameras DISD & Townview Reserve the right to inspect the
laptops Physical damage Check internet history, software installations, and etc. Any other item necessary
Parent Financial Responsibility
STOLEN Laptop File a DPD Stolen Items Report within 24 hours File a Dallas ISD Police Stolen Items Report within
24 hours (must give serial # & DISD Decal) Bring copies of both reports to school within 48 hours
Option 1: Include laptop in your Homeowner’s Insurance Policy Need to verify the coverage is detailed within the plan Verification of insurance needs to be submitted to

Covers dropping it, breaking it, stolen, accidental damage, power surge, natural disaster, fire
NO DEDUCTIBLE You will have to file a claim within 5 days if it is stolen
or broken Pay with a check to your Cluster Office

Laptop Protection: It’s ALL in the Bag!
All lap tops come with a protective bag.
A good lap top bag is essential to the protection of the computer
Do not put books in the lap top bags.
Laptop Service Procedures
When your issued laptop needs to be serviced you are to: Complete the Laptop Service Document (in Media
Center) Turn in your laptop before school, during lunch, or
after school with completed document (in Media Center)
Receive a loaner laptop Pick up your serviced laptop within 48 hours (Your laptop will be reimaged and wiped clean as part
of the maintenance)
Maintaining Files/Storage Space
All files that are created and saved on the laptop must be in the Cloud or
Students have access to OneDrive and GoogleDocs
Students also have option of storing on Thumbdrive

To receive your laptop…
You must Pay for any missing textbooks or library books Sign and submit all required forms (6) Attend this orientation session Pledge to monitor your child’s use and care of their
laptop for the entire school year Either show proof of home owner’s insurance or
$56 for District Safeware Coverage If there is financial difficulty please see your
Cluster Office Laptops will be distributed in September
Technology One to One Laptop Program
We recommend that all students take one of these laptops
Special programs that individual laptops don’t have
These are connected to district EAD with internet connectivity and access that personal devices do not have
It is not mandatory but strongly suggested
