Attached to this transmittal letter is the Anual Report for the Town of Burlington Storm Water Management Program for the reporting period May 1 , 2008 to May 1 2009.
This report combined with this transmittal letter constitutes a self-assessment review of compliance with the permit conditions. The attached report is constructed in table format to facilitate review of the progress on each Best Management Practice. The table contains a(n):
assessment of the appropriateness of the selected BMPs assessment of the progress toward achieving the measurable goals summary of results of any information collected to date discussion of activities for the next reporting cycle discussion of any changes in identified BMPs or measurable goals
The Town of Burlington accomplished the following activities during the 6th permit year:
Implemented "standard" best management practices permit conditions to fully implement new erosion control (and post construction erosion control) bylaw. Site checklists have been developed to support bylaw implementation and enforcement of permit conditions.
Installed an online reporting tool for the public to report incidents of ilegal dumping into our stormwater system. The Town of Burlington makes it clear on its stormwater web page that ilegal dumping into the stormwater system is a violation of the Clean Water Act and Burlington Bylaw Article XIV, Section 7.
Continued work on our Ilicit Discharge and Detection Plan. Weare planning to finish this plan durng the next permit year.
Developed a Vegetation Management Plan and Yearly Operational Plan and applied for a permit from the MA Dept of Agrcultural Resources with respect to the spraying of pesticides on roadway vegetation. The development of the Vegetation Management Plan allows pesticide application to only approved areas, limits spraying in sensitive areas, and requires that precautions be implemented to minimize excess pesticide runoff and discharge into our stormwater system.
