Terms to Know
In-Person – Students learn at school in person
Remote Learning – Learning takes place from home
Hybrid – Students engage in learning part time in school and part
time remotely online
Online – All learning occurs online regardless if schools have in
person or hybrid learning
Synchronous – teacher led instruction
Asynchronous – independent learning

9/22/20 and 9/23/20: 6th grade only on hybrid schedule, 7th and
8th grades remotely learning
9/24/20 and 9/25/20: 6th, 7th, and 8th on hybrid learning schedules
In Person Learning
Mann Middle School’s In Person Learning Plan:
Hybrid Model
Students will be divided into groups: A-K and L – Z
Purple Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Students A-K are learning In Person
Students L- Z are learning Remotely (asynchronous)
Silver Days: Wednesdays and Fridays
Students A-K are learning Remotely (asynchronous)
Students L- Z are learning In Person
Special Populations
Students are considered part of a Special Populations group if they
have formally been identified in one of the following categories:
Student with an Individualized Learning Plan (IEP)
Student who receives English Language services (ELL)
Students who are identified as Gifted and Talented (ALP)
Students receiving IEP or ELL services are recommended to attend
daily Tuesday – Friday
Students receiving ALP (gifted) services have the option to attend
daily Tuesday - Friday
Transportation
Normal bus routes begin Tuesday 9/22
Special Populations will receive transportation according to their
plans
Masks are required on buses at all times
Students will be assigned seats, with family members when possible
Extra safety precautions (ex: cleaning, open windows, hand
sanitizer, loading procedures)

At Home Health Screenings
Please refer to the D11 Return to Learn website for the complete At Home Health Screening guidelines (www.d11.org/returntolearn)
Students exhibiting UNEXPLAINED new symptoms should stay at home and parents should seek guidance from their family physician
Students should NOT attend school if any of the following apply:
The student has been diagnosed with Covid-19
The student has been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19
The student or a household member is symptomatic and awaiting the results of a PCR Covid-19 test
Safety Precautions
Masks are required in the school buildings at all times
Face shields may be worn by staff members in classrooms where students are members of
our DHH population so that these students can see faces when communicating
Social distancing will be implemented where possible
Hand sanitizer is available in all learning spaces
Cleaning procedures at or above district guidelines
Shared materials will be sanitized appropriately and “quarantined” for 72 hours if
appropriate (ex: library books, Chromebooks, lab supplies, etc.)
Sneeze guards are in place in the main offices and are available for use in all learning
spaces
Logistics
Cohorts – Students are in cohorts by grade level
Lockers – assigned alphabetically and spaced by hybrid learning days
Entrances – Grade level cohorts have separate entrances into the buildings
Lunches – by cohort with proper social distancing
Recess – masks may be taken off if social distancing properly, required if
engaging in physical activities (ex: basketball or football)
Hand Washing Breaks – scheduled throughout the school day and at lunch time
Restroom Breaks – limited number of students in the restrooms at a time,
scheduled grade level breaks, students allowed as needed
Student Expectations
Chromebooks
Students must bring their Chromebook daily
Chromebooks must be fully charged – no charging stations in classrooms
All online expectations must be followed or disciplinary action may occur
PRIDE Expectations
Students must follow PRIDE expectations at all times while at school or representing Mann MS
Dress Code
The dress code policy will be fully enforced
Masks must meet the dress code expectations (ex: drugs, alcohol, political messages, etc. are
prohibited on masks)
Cell Phone and Technology Policy
The cell phone and technology policy is in full effect from 8:45am to 3:45pm
D11 Inspire Online at Mann MS
Students electing to attend school online full time will be
members of D11 Inspire Online at Mann Middle School
Synchronous learning daily with Mann teaching staff
Daily attendance is mandatory
Grades will be assigned using a traditional grading scale
Students enrolled in online learning will be required to stay in the
online program until the end of the semester (December 2020)
Online Daily Schedule
Schedule will be posted on the Mann website by
grade level
Students may be assigned a teacher that is different than their current
teacher
Online Learning Expectations
All regular school and PRIDE expectations apply to the online learning
environment
Students must enroll and remain online though the semester (December 2020)
Students are logged into all classes on time
Cameras are on and students are actively engaged in learning
Language and behavior is school appropriate
Assignments are completed and turned in on time
Students not adhering to expected behavior and performance expectations
may receive disciplinary action
Attendance
Daily attendance is mandatory whether students are engaged in
online, remote, or in person learning
Attendance will be taken daily for ALL classes whether synchronous or
asynchronous learning is occurring
All D11 attendance policies must be followed online or in person
Absences must be called into the attendance office
Absence (severe illness) vs. remote learning
Excused: funerals, severe illness, family emergency, pre-arranged, medical
appointments
Unexcused: over sleeping, baby sitting, grocery shopping, not logging in,
failure to call in
Odds and Ends
Grades
All classes (in person or online) are graded using a traditional grading scale
Mann’s late work policy applies in all classes
Supplies
Students will be given D11 provided supplies if attending in-person learning
All students have been given supplies for use at home
Some supplies may be kept by the team teachers for future use
Water bottles
Students are highly encouraged to bring water bottles from home to limit water fountain usage
Water only!!
