TownHall 9 Build / Upgrade Order

If you read through my primer Preparing for TownHall 9 you should be arriving at the completion your TownHall upgrade with the following:

A 7 day shield that is coming to an end Gold ­ Close to 6 million Elixir ­ Close to 6 million Dark Elixir ­ Over 40,000 Bonus loot in your Clan Castle

If you have achieved the above, you will be able to purchase all the building upgrades (exception; X­Bows) under the High Priority segment for each resource the moment your TownHall upgrade is complete. This assumes 3 builders, the Queen and Giant bomb have no build time at their first level. You will be opting out of Clan Wars for the first 5 days as TH9. This is to give time for the Spell Factory to upgrade and an opportunity to farm the gold necessary for the X­Bows. X­Bows will be available for Clan War defense while under construction. Elixir High Priority: While your spell factory is under upgrade your war strength is roughly that of a TH7. Use the war opt­out feature to remove yourself from war during the 5 day upgrade.

Medium­High Priority: Dark Barrack Level 5 ranks slightly higher due to the necessity of Witches in many TH9 attacks. High Priority Research Lab troops take priority over these upgrades.

Low Priority: 2nd Dark Barrack to L5 and 6 Storage Tanks

For those familiar with the original TH9 primer I sent out, you'll notice the biggest change in the Gold section is reprioritizing of the Clan Castle over X­Bows and addition of the big bomb. This conclusion was reached after a fair bit of research and these reasons

Increase capacity of the Clan Castle adds to both your offense and defense. Only Heroes offer this same benefit.

Arriving at TH9 with 6 million gold in the bank gives you a unique opportunity to get the important but costly CC upgrade out of the way. As a fresh TH9 it is easier to farm 3 million gold twice for your X­Bows vs 5 million once for the Clan Castle

Upgrading the CC gives you access to higher level Golem and Lavahound donations for war. Every TH9 attack requires at least one of those units if not both.

Lastly building your 4th Big Bomb is critical for defending against Hog based attacks as it gives you now two Double Giant Bomb locations.

Gold High Priority:

Clan Castle 4th Big Bomb 2 Seeking Air Mines ­ No build time 2 X­Bows

Begin the construction of new defense buildings while you farm the gold necessary for the X­Bows. Prioritize the X­Bpws as you near the 3 million gold mark. Medium­High Priority: All new defense buildings will be upgraded at the same time based on builder availability and funds. Follow the priority list when there is an option

25 Walls to L6 (Pink) 4th Air Defense to L6 4th Giant Bomb to L3 4th Tesla to L6 4th Wizard Tower to L6 6th Archer Tower to L10

Medium­Low Priority:

After all new defenses are TH8 level. Youre free to switch these up based on fund availability. For example if you have 7 million gold in the bank, go ahead and get an X­Bow Level 3 out of the way instead of 5.36 million for a Wizard tower.

Low Priority: Spot DPS buildings are the lowest priority. I will personally drive over to your house and bitch slap you if I see a cannon being upgraded before any of the medium priority items.

Dark Elixir High Priority:

Archer Queen Medium­High Priority: High Priority Research Lab troops take priority over AQ upgrades.

Archer Queen to L5 Medium­Low Priority:

Archer Queen to L30 Barbarian King to L30

Research Lab High Priority: It does not matter which one you do first, whichever you have the resources for. Do not let your Lab sit idle, farm and prepare for the next one.

Balloons L6 ­ 10 days Hog Riders L5 ­ 12 days

Medium­High Priority: Interchangeable based on your war attack strategy. If you do primarily GoWiWi attacks you'll want to upgrade Golem, Witch and Jump. If you do LavaLoon you'll want to upgrade Lavahound (assuming you upgraded a Dark Barrack to L6). Giants and Barbarians both receive substantial upgrades and are critical for farming.

Medium­Low Priority: Interchangeable. Archers receive a modest upgrade. Minions are typically only used during cleanup after a LavaLoon attack.

Low Priority: Interchangeable. Changes to air traps has made Healer a more viable unit when farming but still low priority. Valkyrie attacks at L4 can be fun but are a luxury.
