Case study 1: ASTALDI head office in Rome, Italy (work in progress)

Energy Saving Actions

Substitution of fluorescent lamps and halogen lamps with LEDs with an energy saving of illumination up to 60%.

External insulation: with the use of insulating materials based on nanotechnologies or natural fibers to increase the thermal resistance of the building.

Creating vertical gardens to improve thermal resistance and utilizing plants that absorb traffic pollution.

Photovoltaics: 2,544 CIS panels on roof, vertical walls and parking areas. A PV system with 184 kW of power rating with an energy production of 200,000 kWh/year.

Installation of a thermal solar system with a capturing surface of 50 m2 to produce 2,500 l/day of hot water.

Installation of a trigenerator with a simultaneous production of electricity, heating and refrigeration with an energy saving of 25% compared with a separate production.

Installation on the roof of an insulation membrane with solar rays reflective capacities to reduce cooling energy consumptions.

Installations of high efficiency lighting.

Installation of motion control light sensors in common areas to minimize the amount of time lights are left on after employers walk away.

Introduction of more natural exterior light into internal office spaces through the use of interior office windows and reflective ceilings tiles.

Installation of in line instant-hot water heaters that heat only on demand and not all day long like a typical boiler.
