Pant Hospital/ANIIMS soon Port Blair, Jan. 19 Farmers Field School (IPM) Demonstration-cum- Training programme on rabi vegetable was inaugurated by Central IPM Centre (CIPMC) Port Blair at Humphrygunj (Manglutan) on Jan. 15 and at Teylerabad on Jan 18 to create awareness on Integrated Pest Management among the farmers. Farmers Field School (FFS) is an Agricultural School which is conducted in Farmer's field. This is a research-cum-learning through non formal education. FFS provides the concept of 'seeing is believing' & 'learning by doing' which is more suitable to farmers. It teaches basic agricultural and pest management skills that make the farmers experts and perfect on their farms for perfect decision making. Addressing the gathering, Shri H.P. Ramesh, PPO (E) CIPMC, Port Blair described the aims and Awareness on Integrated Pest Management created among farmers Farmers Field School conducted at Humphrygunj & Teylerabad objectives of IPM for better environment. He also urged the farmers to use bio-pesticides as far as possible. Dr. A. D. Gawande, APPO (PP) described about cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical methods for insect pests and disease management. Port Blair, Jan. 19 In line with the nationwide launch of the largest vaccination campaign in the world against the COVID-19 pandemic, the first phase of the vaccination drive commenced for Health Care Workers (HCWs) of the Tri- Services Command today at INHS Dhanvantari under the aegis of Headquarters, Andaman & Nicobar Command. All Front Line Workers (FLWs) of the Command will be va ccinated subsequently in a phased manner. A total of 370 doses of vaccine COVID-19 vaccination drive in Andaman & Nicobar Command Vaccination drive will ensure availability of 'Fighting-Fit' & 'Operation-Ready' Command: CINCAN for the first phase have been received from the Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration. HCWs, Nodal Officers and vaccinators of various units of the Command have also been imparted training in the procedure of vaccination by the Dy Director Health, A&N Administration and representatives of WHO at Port Blair. The vaccination drive was inaugurated by Lt Gen Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, Commander-in- Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) at INHS Dhanvantari. Port Blair, Jan. 19 The District Road Safety Committee, South Andaman has convened a meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman wherein the Transport Department and Traffic Police proposed to improve the traffic congestion at Chatham Jetty Area. The Chatham Jetty area has been witnessing heavy vehicular congestion especially during the arrival and departure of boats, due to the District Road Safety Committee discusses measures to improve traffic situation at Chatham Jetty area Safer traffic & hassle free pedestrian movement to be initiated on pilot basis for 30 days unorganized movement of vehicles, heavy congestion is created in the area making unsafe for the movement of pedestrians. As such it has been decided to implement a traffic movement plan initially for period of 30 days on a pilot basis which is as follows:- Space near the canteen has been earmarked for parking of two wheelers in two rows. Maximum of five stage carriage buses will be allowed to stop and alight passengers at the earmarked area by the side of ticket counter. After the area identified for buses, area has been earmarked for parking of 10 autorickshaw and five taxi/ CC permit vehicles on the left side of the road towards jetty. Personal vehicles (Two wheelers and cars) are permitted to park at the area after the area earmarked for autorickshaw on the left side of the road.
