description

The scenic beauty of this part of the South of Peru is astonishing. The main attraction is the Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake, to which the legend attributes the origin of the Inca civilization. But the creativity of the people here is even more surprising. The Festivity of Our Lady of Candlemas, in February, is one of Peru’s most important celebrations, and its spirituality dates back to hundreds of years, as it is the continuation of the worship to Mother Earth (Pachamama) from Pre-Hispanic times. Because of that, Puno has not abandoned its customs, and its traditional costumes, music, dances, handicrafts and gastronomy bear witness that its culture is still alive, and that it can be shared with the visitors; which adds interest to a trip that every tourist would like to repeat.
