The wines of Valais – to taste themis to love them!

Valais is Switzerland's premier wine-gro-wing canton. The facts: almost 5,100hectares of vines, 120,000 plots, 45 mil-lion liters or 40% of the country's entireproduction!

Valais also leads the field in terms of di-versity. 49 varieties of grape are grownhere at altitudes ranging between 400and 1,150 m (a European record!). Theirnames are evocative and full of promise,inviting you to embark on a voyage ofdiscovery: whites such as Petite Arvine,Fendant (Chasselas), or Amigne and redssuch as Cornalin, Pinot noir and Syrah…to name but a few!

The vineyard route

From Martigny to Leuk, this route takes you throughcountryside with terraced vineyards where you willmake some surprising discoveries as you visit the vi-neyards and wine producers. You can choose to coverthe route on foot (66 km), by bicycle (83 km) or onroads suitable for cars (55 km).
