The Smallest of the World's Metropolises

    Our highlights.

    St. PierreCalvin's Austere Mother Church

Geneva's Old Town is dominated by the imposing Roman-Gothic Cathedral of St. Pierre, in which

Johannes Calvin preached his Protestant sermons in the 16th Century. The cathedral is in fact

sitting on nearly 2000 years of history. The permanent and very well documented

archaeological excavation of the site underneath the church floor therefore provides visitors

with an exciting insight into the past.

    UNOThe Guardians of Human Dignity

If you walk through the gates of the palace housing the United Nations, you are stepping on

international territory. Over 20,000 delegates from all countries of the world visit this site

annually. And 3,000 permanent employees work exclusively for thi s mission: Peace, security,

and the right of human dignity. A tour through the imposing halls is worth its while.

    MouettesThrough the Wilderness of Nature

It is true, the Rhne is not the Amazon River, but at times it looks like that. On a cruise aboard

a "Mouette", you will enter the mouth of the Arve River set in a wild primeval landscape that

reveals itself as dense and mysterious and yet permits distant views of the Alps. The cruise up

to the reservoir wall in Verbois and back takes 2 1/2 hours.

JungfraujochIn the depth of the "Top of Europe"

A great moment in mountain railroad history. On the Swiss National Day in 1912,the trains of the Jungfraubahn went into operation after a 16-year construction

effort. The ride crosses Alpine pastures and further on via the Eiger goes to

Europe's highest train station, located at 3454 meters above sea level. It is an

overwhelming experience to see the Eiger Northface through the window and later

on to stand high up there at the starting point of the Great Aletsch Glacier.

During the summer, 500 different species of Alpine plants bloom in the Alpine

Garden. From here, mountain hikers start out on their long trek to the historic
