    Brnig Pass Route

    Riding across the wooded Brnig Pass (1,002 meters above sea level) to Interlaken - from Central Switzerland to the eastern part of the BerneseOberland. Here we stay overnight.     A great moment in mountain railroad history. On the Swiss National Day in 1912,the trains of the Jungfraubahn went into operation after a 16-year construction

    Garden. From here, mountain hikers start out on their long trek to the historic

    Via the Ltschberg Mountain to Valais

    From Interlaken we travel the Ltschberg-Route (by train or by loading the car onto the train) into the canton of Valais and head to Zermatt.     Take the train up to the 2,300-meter Riffelalp. The subsequent hike takes you via lakes

    Findeln. Later on you hike down to Winkelmatten, Zermatt. The Baroque chapel in Winkelmatter

    (18th Century), with the Matterhorn in the background, is a popular motif for photographs.

    Klein-MatterhornThe Alps' Highest Viewing Platform

    Edward Whymper was the first man to conquer the legendary mountain, the 4,478-meter

    Matterhorn, in 1865. Four of his companions lost their lives. Even today, only experienced

    climbers accompanied by a mountain guide should embark on the ascent. Non-climbers enjoy

    the summit-experience on the Klein-Matterhorn, which at no less than 3,883 meters above sea

    level is the Alps highest aerial cable station.
