FABULOUS DININGSavor China’s Exquisite R egional Cuisines

China today arguably produces thefinest cuisine in the world. Given thecountry’s stratospheric economic riseand the emergence of a fun-lovingmiddle class, the special diningexperience is prized in Chinese society

more than ever before. A good time in China means nothing if not “to eatwell.”The enjoyment of good food will prove one of this tour’s recurring themes.

Fine dining certainly makes for a happy occasion, but in China, it means muchmore. Simply put, the brilliance of Chinese culture is found in China’sastounding culinary traditions. Every Chinese region defines itself by itscuisine—this means the most direct way of experiencing a region is throughtasting its food. In the Middle Kingdom, food unlocks the subtlety andrichness of culture. As your tour passes through much of the country you’ll have ample

opportunity to discover each region’s culinary specialty. And given Chinesecreativity, it is unlikely you’ll eat any one dish twice. One after another, dishesbrought to the table will surprise you by their presentation and uniqueness. Itis this enjoyment of “food as culture” that will be part and parcel of your

China experience. Here are just someof the fine eating establishmentsyou’ll enjoy:

§ In SHANGHAI, Lv Bo Lang isfamous for its dim sum and masterfulharmony of color, fragrance, and

flavor. §Dingxiang Garden Restaurant is nestled in a residence of the concubineDing Xiang. This restaurant-in-a-mansion is often cited as one of the city’s bestbets for Shanghai cuisine. Dishes are noted for their elegant presentation anddelicate southern flavors.§ In HANGZHOU, 7 Longjing Garden Resaurant serves authentic Hangzhou

cuisine featuring fresh seafood and produce cooked in subtle sauces withmellow flavors meant to accentuate, not overpower, the dish's leadingingredient. § In XITANG, Qiantang Renjia Restaurant is a local restaurant famous for its

traditional southern fare. Known for its tasty dishes and down to earthatmosphere, Qiantang Renjia is a stand-out among the many restaurants in thearea.

Known for its tasty dishes and down to earthatmosphere, Qiantang Renjia is a stand-out among the many restaurants in thearea.

more than ever before.
