As Samantha Fox sings in ‘Touch me’, we are in permanent exchange with our surroundings. From walls, ceilings, floors, windows and furniture like sofas or beds up to our clothes, they all touch us. We constantly communicate with them, often on an intuitive level, and shape these surfaces. Like a living skin, the architectonic surface contains the expression of our behaviour, moods, daily rituals and experiences. One the one hand, we give depth to surfaces by the act of living and the appropiation of space. On the other hand, we recall memories from them.In the workshop we will step away from measurable plans, models and other restrictions. We will step away from our smart phones and touch screens. Instead, we will focus on the real tactile encounter with our intimate surroundings. By means of different media such as photography, film and installation, we will search for the sensual qualities of materials, take a close look at the flowof light and penetrate into surfaces.
