Since formation in 2009 both companies have innovated in process,invested in technology and hardware to enable testing to be conducted safely,quickly and efficiently. This has reduced wagon non-availability for testing, improved quality of work undertaken, reporting to clients, speed of testing and safety for those involved.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIPThrough partnership working we have developed new supply chains for rail equipment, developed just in time procurement systems and have the ability to provide this service anywhere a suitable siding exists.

In Europe this product is suitable for heavy and light hydrocarbons, ethanol’s and nitric acids; it can however be tailored to meet any customer requirement globally and TTS have experience in all aspects of rail tank wagon operations downstream of filling, moving and discharge. We also have experience in the design and build of wagons, track and depot infrastructure.

The company stores, services and maintains up to 1,200 items of traction and rolling stock on its site at any one time. It also undertakes engineering work, specialised conversions and accident damage repair. MRL has extensive experience of the development and interpretation of regulatory systems.

ACCREDITATIONSThe company has ISO 9001 certification, is Link-up accredited, Network Rail audited against the Private Wagon Registration Agreement (PWRA) standards and is also audited annually by VTG, Touax and Deutsche Bahn Schenker (DBS) with regard to tank wagon operations.

THE RAIL ALLIANCEIn 2006 Motorail/Colin Flack was approached by the UK Government to create an trade association within the Rail industry. The Rail Alliance was subsequently established by Colin and spans all aspects of the Rail Sector enabling its now 270+ members to Network, Collaborate and Innovate with both suppliers and customers in order for them to Thrive as businesses through its extensive list of industry contacts and its

regular programme of networking events, seminars and focused one-to-one support. Although networking is the main effort of the Rail Alliance, latterly the focus has shifted towards product acceptance and addressing the various route-to-market issues that exist in a complex industrial sector.

The Rail Alliance is an integral part of the UK Rail R&D communities with MIRA, TSB, Transport KTN and TRL among its members. It is supportive of the Rail Research UK Association and has particularly strong links with the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Rail Research and Education. It is a founder member of the European Rail Cluster Initiative.

The Rail Alliance also facilitates product test, trial and demonstration opportunities for UK-based companies

Motorail UK Ltd is a British registered company formed in 2004 by Colin Flack, based from the Quinton Rail Technology Centre (QRTC) the UK’s largest and most extensive rail yard at Long Marston in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Comprising over 20km of railway sidings, 60 hectares of open space, workshops, covered storage facilities and boasts the UK’s primary loop test track facility, owned and managed by MRL.

COLIN FLACK - OWNER OF MOTORAIL UK LTDColin Flack is the owner of Motorail UK Ltd and founded the company in 2004.

At 55, Colin has had two careers; his first as a Sandhurst commissioned Army Officer in a variety of appointments in nuclear weapons transport, railway operations, WMD operational / counter-terrorist posts and a series of other senior staff appointments culminating in the global responsibility for the UK’s railway capability. He has seen extensive operational service including the first Gulf

War, where, prior to his active service with the UK’s 7th and 4th Armoured Brigades in Desert Storm he was responsible for the training of Saudi Special Forces and the development of civil protection measures for the Eastern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. More recently Kosovo, where he delivered the regeneration of the national rail network during and after the conflict.

He is a highly respected and experienced logistician.

Since retiring from the Army as a Colonel in 2004 he has successfully formed and run a number of businesses including MRL. In the past he has been a long standing member of the Rail Freight Group management board. He is currently the CEO of the Rail Alliance, the UK’s leading railway B2B organisation and regularly advises Ministers and Government on a wide range of railway related topics including overseas trade and business development, as it relates to the SME community.

He has recent experience of advising clients with regard to tank wagon operations and terminal design. In the past clients have included Prologis, BAE Systems, Network Rail, GE and VTG. His expertise in this field has been recognised by the University of Birmingham with the award of an Honorary Research Fellowship in the Department of Civil Engineering in respect of his work in the world renowned Centre for Rail Research and Engineering.

LCM Environmental Ltd. is a British company established in 1987 that has continually worked within the Petroleum and Fuels industries as contractor, project manager and principal contractor providing specialist maintenance and management services. In that time LCM have acquired a reputation for safety, innovation and customer service.

MARK ORR - MANAGING DIRECTOR OF LCMMark J Orr is Managing Director of LCM Environmental and has worked in the company since 2001 initially joining to conduct a business review and deliver the change in strategic direction highlighted in his findings.

In 2006 Mark joined other Directors in a management buy-out from LCM’s founder and has since continued to lead LCM from being a contractor to service innovator and has taken LCM’s core competences into new markets such as forecourt servicing, fuel

facility management, compliance testing and inspection which led into the development of TTS with Motorail.

At 56, Mark has had two careers; one as an Army Logistic specialist in field force and support units including time spent in command positions in nuclear weapon transport, maritime and port logistics. He worked in various junior staff positions and was select to attend the Army Staff College but chose to leave at that point to start his second career as a successful entrepreneur.

This has involved ownership and subsequent sale of businesses in the marine industry, PR and Marketing, sport sponsorship, innovation and change management, event management and latterly in the fuels industry with LCM Environmental.

Mark is a dynamic leader with broad business skills who excels at developing profitable relationships and team management. Marks belief that all client expectations should be exceeded through innovative product delivery and all services should be undertaken by highly trained, competent and motivated staff has assisted LCM moving into new markets and gaining new clients’.
