Michigan. Dr. Chao is the co-developer of Lekin Scheduling System. He is the co-author of two books, "Operations Scheduling wit

h Applications in Manufacturing and Services" (Irwin/McGraw-Hill, 1998), and "Queueing Networks: Customers, Signals, and Product Form Solutions" (John Wiley & Sons, 1999).

Chao received the 1998 Erlang Prize from the Applied Probability Society of INFORMS, and he received the Outstanding Overseas Chinese Scientist Award from National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2002, the Outstanding Overseas Scientist Award from Chinese Academy of Science in 2004.

2005 Edelman Finalist Award Winner: An OR/MS group consisting of OR professors at Nanzan Gakuen is applying various OR/MS methodologies to improve operations and reduce costs. The group evaluated the financial effectiveness of a new campus using a simulation technique. Linear programming was used to improve the cost effectiveness of the school bus system, resulting in a savings of $5 million in five years.

He has been keeping very important position including Vice President and Council Member at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan.
