This will be confirmed next Monday, 12th July. The removal of restricons happens two days before the end of term and the following guidance has been issued to schools. At Step 4 we will no longer recommend that it is necessary to keep children in consistent groups (‘bubbles’). When we proceed to Step 4, this means that bubbles will not need to be used for any summer provision (for example, summer schools) or in schools from the autumn term. This means that we can plan to return to normal school operaons from the start of the new school year in September, but will also keep restricons in place unl the end of this term. We will sll have to monitor all the children for symptoms of Covid and they will sll need to get a negave PCR test result before returning to school but we will be able to get back to normal school. We look forward to it! I will contact you again with more informaon about next year as soon as our plans are fi- nalised. Infecon rates are on the rise in Camden so please connue to follow the measures in place at the school unl the end of term. We have enjoyed a fabulous 10 days of non-stop fun, with our Olympic inspired Sports Days, even when rain stopped play for Year 6! The children have shown great teamwork and sportsmanship in a range of different acvies, culminang in a show of strength and agility with tug-o-war games. Year 5 and 6 will finish the sporng extravaganza next week! We thank Carmen Blanco for creang yet another incredible sporng opportunity for our children. The difference Carmen makes to the lives of Torriano children is inspiring.

As announced this week, the roadmap for Covid recovery will move to Step 4 with the removal of the majority of Covid restrictions on Monday 19th July. This will be confirmed next Monday, 12th July. The removal of restrictions happens two days before the end of term and the following guidance has been issued to schools. ‘At Step 4 we will no longer recommend that it is necessary to keep children in consistent groups (‘bubbles’). When we proceed to Step 4, this means that bubbles will not need to be used for any summer provision (for example, summer schools) or in schools from the autumn term.’ This means that we can plan to return to normal school operations from the start of the new school year in September, but will also keep restrictions in place until the end of this term. We will still have to monitor all the children for symptoms of Covid and they will still need to get a negative PCR test result before returning to school but we will be able to get back to normal school. We look forward to it! I will contact you again with more information about next year as soon as our plans are fi-nalised. Infection rates are on the rise in Camden so please continue to follow the measures in place at the school until the end of term.

We have enjoyed a fabulous 10 days of non-stop fun, with our Olympic inspired Sports Days, even when rain stopped play for Year 6! The STEAM projects across the school are drawing to a close and will be shared with you all before the end of term via the magic of the internet! Key Stage 1 parents will have noticed the incredible Yayoi Kusama inspired tree wrapping artwork as well as our own version of the Somerset House SDG Forest for Change.

The Year 1 pupils delighted in sharing this with their parents on Thursday afternoon as they were collected from school. We would like to thank Jim Grant for returning to school again this week to work with many children on their art outcomes.

Year 5 saw the conclusion of their summer term poetry project this week. They had taken part in poetry workshops with poet Paul Lyalls, writing their own poems. They used the world as inspiration to create a collection of wonderful free verse poems which are to be displayed in King’s Cross. These have also been collated into a book which each Year 5 pupil will receive. To celebrate the book’s launch, a group of children journeyed to

St Pancras Station on Thursday to perform their poems in front of an audience of other schools and passing commuters. It was a magical experi-ence and they cannot wait to perform for the Tor-riano community next week!

We will be bouncing our way to the end of term. Following our need to postpone the Summer Fair to September, the Torriano PTA have organised for the children to have a very bouncy time! There will be bouncy castles in the EYFS area and pitch area for each bubble to enjoy on Thursday. More information on page 6 of this newsletter.

Annual reports will be sent out on Monday 12th July. This report will inform you about your child's achievements, progress and targets this year. If you would like to discuss the report in more detail with your child’s class teacher, parents evening bookings are open.

Meetings can be booked for Tuesday 13th or Wednesday 14th July via the school booking link shared in a recent letter. There is also an opportunity for you to virtually meet your child’s new teacher on Monday 19th July. More details to fol-low.

Our Muslim familes will soon be celebrating Eid Ul Adha. This date is dependant on the sighting of the moon and is predicted for the 20th July. Please look out for the letter with more details around this.

We finish the term at 2pm on Wednesday 21st July. If you are intending to travel abroad this summer, please ensure that you have allowed time for quarantine measures, if restrictions are in place. Children are all expected to be back at school on Thursday 2nd September.

Have a lovely weekend - let’s hope we get a good result!

Helen

Wellbeing Tip of the Week

Week 30 - Commit to something that brings you joy

This week we want to focus on committing regularly to something that makes you feel good. Joy and laughter are medicinal, research has shown that laughter increases serotonin and endorphins in the brain, replenishes the lungs, relaxes muscles, eases tension in the body and strengthens our immune systems. Laughter also relieves

everyday worry and stress, adds positivity and resilience to life, im-proves overall happiness and mood, and helps ease worry and fear. Your go-to joy may be watching funny TV shows, playing with your pet, meeting friends or family, listening to music or going through old photos and videos.

Whatever it is, investing in joy is not a waste of time. To start off, aim to have 30 minutes of joy every week, then increase this to at least 30 minutes a day. Enjoy!

End of Term Bouncy Treats

As mentioned in last week’s Newsletter, due to various Covid restrictions, we will be delaying the summer fair until Autumn. We will now be able to plan something wonderful for the Autumn

term, which will not only serve as a summer fair, but also serve as a welcome event to newcomers to the school. To make sure that the children still get a good send-off for the summer, we will hopefully have bouncy castles and end of term parties with games. We will be holding a raffle when we have the Autumn fair, if we are able to get a few nice prizes, please get in touch if you might be able to help out with this or you have any contacts that may be able to help. You are also welcome of course to make a donation towards the bouncy castles and games for both the infants and juniors.
