ECOMONE : Ecology & Pheromone http://www.fjf.co.jp/en/ecomon/product/tribo/index.html#tribo 1/3 Red flour beetle ( Tribolium castaneum ) Adults are 4.0 to 5.0 mm long and their bodies are reddish brown. They infest various kinds of dried foods, such as grains, milled cereal, spice, nuts, and dried fruits. Using their strong mandibles, they bore into the packages of food products. Females lay 500 to 1,000 eggs during their lifetime. They develop into adults in about two months and live for more than 200 days. Confused flour beetle ( Tribolium confusum ) Confused flour beetles closely resemble red flour beetles. They have similar life cycles and feeding habits to red flour beetles. Confused flour beetles can be differentiated from the red flour beetles by the shape of the antenna and the length between eyes. Adult beetles have a tolerance to lower temperatures than red flour beetles. Lesser grain borer ( Rhyzopertha dominica ) Adults lesser grain borers are 2.0 to 3.0 mm long and their bodies are red-brown to black-brown. They infest various kinds of dried food, grains, milled cereal, spice, nuts, dried fruits, and dried meats/fish. Females lay 300 to 500 eggs in these foods. The larvae bite into grain kernels and pupate there. They develop into adults in about one month. Saw-toothed grain beetle ( Oryzaephilus surinamensis ) Adults are 2.5-3.5 mm long and their bodies are black-brown. They have flattened bodies and six saw- toothed projections on the each side of the thorax. They infest various kinds of dried food; grain, milled cereal, bread, pasta products, chocolate, candy and dried fruits. Adult female lays 100~300 eggs. They develop into adults about 40 days and live 6-10 months. Khapra beetle( Trogoderma granarium ) Adult body size is 1.8 to 3.5mm and male is obviously smaller than female. Both male and female adults can not fly. The khapra beetle is multivoltine species, but diapause under low temperature or food shortage. The khapra beetle infests various kinds of dry foods: grains and beans, their processed foodstuffs, vagetable seeds, dry pet foods, crude rubber, leather groducts.

The khapra beetle is the only one species of stored-product insects, which was listed as the worst 100exotic species by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

Flat grain beetle ( Cryptolestes pusillus ) Adults are 1.5 to 2 mm long and reddish-brown. They have highly flattened parallel-sided bodies andlong antennae. The beetles are important pests of cereals, cereal products, oilseeds and dried procecced foods ofvegetable origin. In tropical regions they infest nuts, cocoa, copra and cassava. They can feed onmold on grain germ, because they originally inhabited under the bark of tree and used it as food in thefield.Female adults lay 170- 200 eggs. This species develops from an egg to adult emergence in about 25days and lives for about 150 days at 30.

What's "TORIOS"?"TORIOS" is a reusable and widely applicable pheromone trap formonitoring of crawling stored-product insects.

"TORIOS"is a available for the following crawling stored-product insects.

Pheromone lures are on sale. Red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum) Confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum) Lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica) Saw-toothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis) * Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) ** Flat grain beetle (Cryptolestes pusillus )

These lures contain aggregation pheromones and their mimics that attractadults male and female.* The only saw-toothed grain beetle's lure is used aggregation pheromoneand food attractant.** The khapra beetle's lure is used sex pheromon that attracts adults male.

"TORIOS" employs stickers instead of oil as the capturing tool, sohandling is easy. Moreover, "TORIOS" is made from degradable plasticsin order to decrease environmental load.

For safetyBecause the lure contains no harmlful materials or insecticides, it is safe for both humans and animals.

How to usePlace the traps on the floor along the walls in the working area, warehouse or storage area. Place traps 5 to 10 m apart, but awayfrom manufacturing lines so as to avoid attracting adults that may contaminate products.

Shelf life and useful lifeStickers and pheromone lures can be stored for one year after being manufactured. The useful life is one month after the trap is setup. Keep the trap kits in a dark place at a temperature of 10 to 40C. Storing the lures in a refrigerator or a freezer will cause themto deteriorate.
