ToR for Advocacy Workshop on Zinc program Page 1 Terms of Reference Advocacy Workshop of Zinc and ORS for the treatment of childhood diarrhea among private practitioners and pharmaceutical representatives in West Nusa Tenggara province 1. Background The Micronutrient Initiative has implemented a project titled “Zinc and ORS pilot for the treatment of childhood diarrhea in Indonesia” in selected districts of West Lombok and East Lombok,West Nusa Tenggara Province in April 2011 until March 2014. MI has also conducted the evaluation survey during June-August 2014 and the results showed that 64% and 57% in East and West Lombok districts respectively went to public sector health facilities for treatment. Therefore, it was approximately 18% of caregivers who went to the private sector for treatment. In addition to the efforts to improve the coverage and utilization of zinc and ORS through public sector, there is a need to engage with the private sector including private practitioners to improve the coverage. . 2. Objectives The specific objectives of the workshop are: 1. Share the experiences of the demonstration project for treatment of childhood diarrhea with the private sector audiences and pharmaceutical representatives at the province level. 2. Advocate to the private practitioners and pharmaceutical representatives to support the zinc and ORS for childhood diarrhea program particularly to ensure the zinc and ORS usage for treatment childhood diarrhea and make available continuous supply of zinc supplements and ORS at the pharmacies. 3. Expected Outputs 1. Recommendations from private practitioners on how to support the improvement of zinc and ORS in the treatment of childhood diarrhoea at the province and district levels. 2. Plan of action of pharmaceutical representatives to ensure the supply of zinc and ORS to meet demands at the province and district levels. 4. Workshop participants The participants will be invited from the following: Ministry of Health (MoH) staff (Jakarta) Provincial Health Officers District Health Officers Health Profession Organizations: o Indonesia Pediatrician Association, West Nusa Tenggara branch.

    5. Organization The workshop will be organized by event organizer/agency. MI and PHO West Nusa Tenggara will collaborate for the workshop preparation. The workshop will be divided into 4 sessions:

    1) Session 1: Share lessons by the Government (PHO and MOH) 2) Session 2: Specific group discussion into 2 groups, private practitioners group and

    pharmaceutical representatives group 3) Session 3: Group Presentation 4) Session 4: Conclusion and Recommendations

    6. Deliverables

    Workshop report which covers the following sections:

    a) Executive summary

    b) Process

    c) Key outcomes

    d) Conclusion

    e) Recommendation

    f) Financial report
