• Google I/O 2016 Event held between 18-20 May 2016 .
• Google I/O 2016 took place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in
Mountain View, California.
• It was quite unfamiliar place, it’s back of the Googleplex.

Google Assistant
• Google Assistant is a of new version of “Google Now”.
• It is like building an individual Google For each user which can work within other apps.
• It provides recommendation and contextual suggestion by prediction.
• It has also conversational speech abilities to interact.
Google Home
• Google Home is the hub for connecting Google Assistant with
your connected home and many other smart devices.
• Google Home supports streaming, casting and speaker for verbal
responses to the queries.
• Main aim of Google Home is to learn your habits and
preferences and provide exact responses as per your queries.
Google Allo
• Google announce new telephone number based messaging application known as Google Allo.
• Allo is integrated with Google Assistant by which you can chat either one to one or with your friends.
• Assistant understands your world, so you can ask for the photos from your last trip or if you are planning for dinner then it will be helpful to find good restaurants near by you.
Google Duo
• Google Duo is a companion app for one to one video calling.
• The main aim of Google Duo is to make video calling faster and more reliable even on slower network speeds.
• Knock Knock functionality gives you a live video of the other caller before you answer.
• Google Allo and Duo both are based on phone number so, you can communicate with others whether they are on Android or iOS.
Android N
• Android N is coming with better performance for graphics and
effects, storage capacity increased, reduced battery consumption,
updated emojis, etc.
• Name for Android N yet not decided but will shortly announce
it.
Android Instant App
• Google I/O 2016 came with new Android Instant Apps.
• It allows people to access app content without installing the app.
• Android will temporarily download that particular modules to display that content.
• Android Instant App seems fast, smooth and awesome.
Project Tango
• Project Tango is a platform of Google technology which uses
computer vision to enable mobile devices like tablets,
Smartphones.
• It is also used to detect their position relative to the world
around them without using GPS or any other signals.
• Project Tango will be available in market from summer 2016.
Daydream VR
• Daydream VR is a vision of Google for an affordable mobile
virtual reality platform.
• With the help of Android manufactures, we are working on
upcoming phones, sharing designs for VR viewer and controller
which will be immersive, comfortable and intuitive to use.
Android Apps on Chrome OS
• Android apps are officially coming to Chrome OS, adding
million new apps for Chrome OS users and many new audience
for Android developers.
• Google has also announced that Chrome is the second most
famous OS in America by recent figures showing Chromebooks
outselling Macs for the first time.
Project Ara
• This year, Project Ara got even better with a camera module
added, runtime detected and ready to shoot photos in seconds
which is even faster than last year.
• The developer edition of the Project Ara phone will be out in
4th quarter of 2016.
Project Soli
• Project Soli – aims to bring radar to smartwatches.
• Project Soli has come a long way, with the first prototype smartwatch which is equipped with Project Soli sensor demoed on stage.
• The watch recognizes fine gestures, distance and speed and allows you to control the wearable without ever touching it.
Project Jacquard
• Project Jacquard is a kind of smart clothing.
• Project Jacquard has partnership with Levi Strauss.
• The world’s first connected clothing was revealed known as the
Levi Strauss Commuter Series Trucker Jacket.
• It will be commercially available in the market from 2017.
Android Wear 2.0
• The main feature of Android Wear 2.0 is support for standalone apps.
• You will no need to have a Smartphone paired to your wearable.
• It means you will need SIM equipped smartwatch and data plan too.
Firebase and Android Studio 2.2
• Google I/O 2016 announcements revolved updates to Firebase and Android Studio.
• Android Studio 2.2 Gives a new layout designer, complete with constraint layouts so your app interface will automatically resize itself for different screen size.
• Google has also announced a massive update to the Firebase app development platform.
Android Auto
• Android Auto is a dedicated automotive product into a regular Smartphone app.
• Not every one can afford an Android Auto-equipped vehicle or stereo head unit.
• So, providing the same functionality via an app which brings the platform to everyone.
Google Play Awards
• In 2016, Google has also announces the Google Play Awards.
• It means an annual roundup of the best apps in Google Play.
