10 At the bottom of the valley go right across the stile and head back to Thixendale.

11 To walk to the Robert Fuller Gallery at Fotherdale Farm pass The Cross Keys Inn and turn left at the village road.

12 Turn right at the T junction and follow this road for 800 metres to reach the Gallery.

1 Head west along Thixendale’s main street and turn right climbing the track on the Yorkshire Wolds Way.

2 Go through the gate and continue along the track.

3 Head into the next fi eld and turn left skirting around the fi eld edge before it drops down Vessey Hill.

4 Half way down the hill turn left into the next fi eld and continue your descent. Then climb the hill up the other side of the valley.

5 Turn right and along the path at the top of the valley.

6 After 1 kilometre turn right to join another bridleway and leave the Yorkshire Wolds Way.

7 Follow the track around to the left.

8 Turn right off the track, keeping on the Centenary Way and follow the path alongside the hedgerow.

9 Go through the gate and left along the top of the dry valley.

Thixendale village is one of the most charming places to visit on a trip to the Yorkshire Wolds. Its location at the bottom of many intersecting dales is a delightful setting and makes it one of the most isolated villages in the area.
