Program Introduction

The retailing sector in India is highly fragmented (12 million retail outlets) and predominantly consists of small independent, owner-managed shops. Besides, the country is also dotted with low-cost kiosks and p ushcarts. There has been a boom in retail trade in India in last few years, owing to a gradual increase in the disposable incomes of the middle class households. The size of the retailing industry in India is expected to be around Rs 9,30,000 crore. Out of this, organized retailing industry is around Rs. 35,000 crore, which contributes to less than 2-3 per cent of the industry in India. According to a report by the ministry of commerce & industry, the retail sector in India is expected to grow 7% per annum. The organized retail sector in India is poised for an emphatic phase of growth. Retailing is well past the stage of infancy where only a handful of players like the German retailer Nanz bought international formats to virgin Indian territory, and that too, with limited scale and operations.During the late 1990s, Indian retailers underwent an experimentation phase wherein new formats (department stores like Shoppers' Stop and Pantaloon) and product categories (consumer durables retailing, music retailing etc) were introduced. As the country marched into the new millennium, the organized retailing scenario began to stabilize, specially over the last 3-4 years when players like Big Bazaar, Barista, Pizza Hut, Shoppers' Stop etc became successful in establishing a national footprint. This was also the stage when international retailers like McDonald's, Subway etc adopted a mix of global and India-specific strategies in order to entice the local population.India is now ready to leapfrog into the next stage of evolution where a large number of Indian and international build scalable models with a pan-India appeal with a view to be sustainable in the long term. Already, players are becoming profitable after having gone through their respective learning curves indicating the viability of organized retailing across formats. Opportunities are abundant, across formats and categories, as the new Indian consumer has clearly demonstrated a readiness for all organized retailing segments. Moreover, as has been the case in retail markets across the globe, the influx of foreign brands into India shall transform the retail landscape as domestic players grow bigger and become more innovative in the face of enhanced competitive pressures.

Unique features of the programme

The course has a 4 months Summer Internships, offering the students an opportunity to gain hands on experience in the industry. The Summer Internship also helps students to focus on the area where they would likely to be placed.

GMAT 2012-2013, Test, Entrance Exam Date, Syllabus, Results, Notification, Patternin this section you will find about GMAT Coaching, GMAT Exam Online, Top and best GMAT coaching institutes, centres and classes for GMAT exam 2012, colleges that accept, accepting gmat score, require gmat score in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and other places in India, GMAT sample test papers, results and articles.

GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test.

The GMAT exam is a standardized assessment, delivered in English, that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. GMAT™ scores are used by nearly 1,700 graduate management programs throughout the world, and more than 1,000 of these programs require GMAT scores from each applicant.

GMAT 2012 Test Format:-

The GMAT exam consists of three main parts, the Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section, and the Verbal section.

Analytical Writing Assessment:- The GMAT exam begins with the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). The AWA consists of two separate writing tasks—Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. You are allowed 30 minutes to complete each one.

Quantitative Section:- Following an optional ten-minute break, you begin the Quantitative Section of the GMAT exam. This section contains 37 multiple-choice questions of two question types—Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. You will be allowed a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the entire section.

Verbal Section:- After a second optional ten-minute break, you begin the Verbal Section of the GMAT exam. This section contains 41 multiple choice questions of three question types—Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction. You are allowed a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the entire section.

Computer-Adaptive Format:- The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) consists of four separately timed sections. Each of the first two sections consists of an analytical writing task; the remaining two sections (Quantitative and Verbal) consist of multiple-choice questions delivered in a computer-adaptive format. Questions in these sections are dynamically selected as you take the

Page 44: Top 10 Government MBA Colleges

test; the multiple-choice questions will adjust to your ability level, and your test will be unique.

GMAT 2012 Scores:-

GMAT test takers receive four scores-

    * Verbal    * Quantitative    * Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)    * Total

An Official GMAT Score Report shows each of these scores; in cases of repeat testing, the score report will show all of the test taker's GMAT scores for the past five years.

Verbal and Quantitative Scores :- The Verbal and Quantitative scores range from 0 to 60. Scores below 9 and above 44 for the Verbal section or below 7 and above 50 for the Quantitative section are rare. The Verbal and Quantitative scores measure different constructs and are not comparable to each other.

Analytical Writing Assessment Score:- The AWA score is an average of the two independent ratings for each section: Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. These average scores can range from 0 to 6 in half point intervals.

Writing scores are computed separately from the scores for the multiple-choice sections of the test and have no effect on the Verbal, Quantitative, or Total scores.

Total GMAT Score:- Total GMAT scores range from 200 to 800. Two-thirds of test takers score between 400 and 600.
