The theme for this year is recognition and respect. Our wonderful ES staff will be treated to a special morning tea next week during the month of August. We will also have an ES of the week (ESOTW) to celebrate. This week’s ESOTW is Carolyn. Carolyn goes the extra mile to support students in Year Prep/2 as well as others from across the school. Her bright and happy attitude make her a pleasure to work with. Thank you Carolyn for being a valued member of our school community. Year 6 Transition to Secondary Schools In line with the Department of Education & Early Childhood Development (DEECD) state-wide timeline, all students in Year 6 will take home a letter today to confirm their secondary school placement. From Monday 25th August, Secondary schools may then begin to make contact with parents in regards to the transition processes ahead. Special thanks to Louise Bruin (Year 6 teacher) for the many hours put into coordinating this important transition process. Prep B – Mrs Bos – Suleiman Wiggett – for his improved listening and concentration in class.

Prep P – Mrs Prossor – Harley Hanson – for his amazing word recognition and fluency when reading.

1H – Mrs Hughes – Mila Hartley – for all the hard work she has put into her Literacy and Maths. She has shown amazing progress. Fantastic effort Mila.

1P – Miss Perkins – Connor Hojby – WOW! Over the last few weeks you have shown resilience and a great Bounceback attitude many times inside and outside the classroom. It is lovely to see your happy and excited smile each morning.

2B – Mrs Baird – Tristan Symons – a very organised student who has improved his learning habits.

2J - Mrs Johnstone – Paige Wood - For being a ‘switched on’ learner and making great progress with her goals.

3/4T- Miss Withers - Jyden Coffey – for progressing three levels and displaying a huge improvement in his reading this term.

- Sophie Papadopoulos – for showing an improvement in her handwriting and displaying integrity in everything she does. Keep smiling Sophie.

3/W – Ms Ward – Scott Wilson – for having the Integrity to volunteer to stay inside during lunch break so he could complete his work. Well Done!

4/5S – Miss Staley – Summer Jupp - For trying your best and completing all of the running trials for athletics day! It is great to see you participate and achieve such a great result. Congratulations Summer!

5Q – Miss Quintin– It's great to see you take pride in your bookwork at school. I can see you're trying hard to keep it neat and always join your handwriting. Keep up the great work Amelia Wiggett.

6B – Mrs Bruin – Caine Brill – for sharing his holiday diary with the class. You spoke clearly and enthusiastically about your American holiday. Well done!

Music – Mrs Young – Jordan Walker – 5Q – your practise routine is well established and exercised regularly and it shows every time you turn up to a piano lesson. Your progress is steady and you are such a dedicated instrumental student. Well Done!

Tootgarook PS were the winners of The Lion’s Club Quiz last Thursday night – congratulations to our representatives: Charlotte Weston, Gus Dempsey, Matthew Peterson and Marco de Mille. These students will now represent our school in the Grand Final on Thursday 4th September. Well done and Good Luck with the Grand Final.

Come and view all the students’ pieces of artwork on display in the Tootgarook P.S.’s annual Art Exhibition. All art will be for sale for $2 and the money will go towards buying prizes for the year level winners, as chosen by the Junior School Council. Also take the opportunity to cast the People’s Choice vote in the box provided. Winners will be announced at the following Assembly. The art work can be viewed Monday after school, Tuesday before school and of course at the event. From 4.00pm all instrumental learners will be performing in small ensembles or as solo acts. The afternoon will conclude around 5.00pm. Mini Commonwealth Games

Students from Years P-2 participated in a Mini Commonwealth Game last Wednesday.

Many of the students tried new sports for the first time and had a wonderful time.
