TOOLS IDENTIFICATION

In this chapter the student will be introduced and trained in the correct tool to be

used while working in the lab for the required work.

TOOLS DESCRIPTION:-

1. SOLDERING ROD:-

The soldering rod is the tool which is used to joint two component or metals. It is seen that

always the sol tip of the soldering rod is shine and clean.

2. SOLDERINGSTAND:-

The stand which is used to keep the soldering rod while working. so the stand is used to keep the

solder safely without any damage to the working table or bench. Always to soldering rod is kept

completely inside the stand to keep the soldering rod tip.

3. IRONSPONGE:-

The sponge which is used to clean the tip of the soldering rod while working always it is kept in

the mind that the iron sponge is always damp or wet not leaking.

4. FLUX:-

It is used for easy flow of lead while soldering and also flux is mainly used to prevent oxidization.

Flux is also help for easy removal of components while desoldering.

5. LEAD:-

It is the filer metal that is used to joint two metals. Always the resistance or melting

point of the filler metal should be less when compared to the resistance of the parent metals.The lead which is used in lab while experiment soldering is of composition of

60% Tin +40% Lead

6. DESOL WICK:-

This Desol wick is used as a removal of excess lead which is their on the PCB or

working board. The soldering rod is heated and then the excess lead is removed.

7. SOLDERBATH:-

This is a tub which is generally used in big working components while soldering asit is useful for soldering the component on the board at a time as the lead is place in the tub and

heated to a temperature and it is in a semisolid form.

8. SOLDERREMOVALGUN:-

The lead which is more soldered on the PCB at some time excess of lead is on thePCB so the process of removing excess lead at a time is by using this solder removal gun or

piston.

9. NOSE PLAIR:-

The instrument which is used for bending the components which are to be mounted

on the PCB and the nose plair is also used for holding the components.

10. CUTTER:-

The instrument which is used for cutting wires, component lead after mounting

them on the board and also cutter is used for removing the excess protruding leads, ends of wire

etc.

11. TWEEZER:-

The instrument which is used for holding the small components without damaging

the other component and also holding the compound when hat and with out handling component

carefully we use this.

12. BRUSH:-

When working on the bench working table or bench. The instrument which is used

for cleaning the board and removing the excess left lead or wire or the rods of component on thetable or bench.

13.NEEDLELFILESET:-

This needle file set is used for tinning the component before mounting on the board

and before soldering and even the needle file set is also useful for cleaning the leds andsmoothening the tip of the soldering rod.

14. PRECISIONSCREWDRIVERSET:-

This instrument is a very small and used carefully width a limited force is applied

in a correct direction in a specified angle. There are many differentiate types of tips in precision

screw drive set.

15. GENERALSCREWDRIVERSET:-

This instrument is a general purpose used screw driver which is also having manydifferent types of tips as that of same as precision screw driver set.

16. ALLEN KEY:-

This instrument is a hexagonal headed screw driver set with various sizes. This is

mainly used in aircraft instrument as the major components inner part as filtered at an angle. Sothis allen key instrument are used.

17. HEAT SINKSLEEVE:-

The sleeve or tubes which are generally used to compress the group of wires

together after the complete numbering is done and the connections are made the heat sink sleeveis put and the heat is applied so that the wires are intact with out any air gap or only movement

inside.

18. HOT AIRGUN:-

This instrument is used to apply heat to the heat sink sleeve to shrink the tube. The

required voltage of two types as 1000 watts or 1500 watts is applied for bigger and the heat is

applied to sink.

19. WIRES:-

There are different sizes and types of Teflon wires used in the electrical lab and the

general identification of the wires is done by the different colors and the numbering is alsohelps. The wires are used to connect the two leads of form a circuit to get the output.

20. CRIMPTOOL:-

The tool which is used to crimp the wire that means the crimping of wires are done

by this crimp tool. The specified amount and types of pressure is applied while using the crimp

tool.

21. CONNECTORS:-

The wires after numbering is done they are connected to the required pin

connectors and soldered. There are two types of connectors pin, male and female.

22. DIGITAL MULTIMETER:-

This is a modified and advanced type of multimeter compared to analog

multimeter, it is used for finding the connectivity in the circuit and also for finding the values ofthe component like resistors.

23. PCBS :-

PCB is printed circuit board that means the complete circuit is printed on the board.Just the components are to be mounted on the given place and soldered to get the circuit done

correctly.

24. BREAD BOARD:-

This bread board is same as the PCB but here connection on the bread board and

output is taken. If any wrong we can change the place. It is very useful.

25. VECTORBOARDS:-

This boards are the general purpose used board where as on this only circuit is not

printed and as our requirement the connection can be made and after soldering is done the

output is received.

26. SOLDERINGTEMPCONTROLLINGUNIT:-

This unit is for controlling the temperature of the soldering rod. Here thetemperature can be increased or decreased and set the required temperature so it is very safe to

use this type of soldering temperature controlling unit.

27. ELECTROSTATICMATWITH WRISTHANDTRAP:-

This wrist hand is used for safely purpose while working on the bench to preventshock.

28. ILLUMINATEDMAGNIFYINGGLASS:-
