Unfortunately for both of us it is a little bit vague and contradicting. I think at this time you would benefit from us having an informal welfare meeting as soon as it is possible (perhaps in the new year now), in order for us to discuss how the company can help you return to work. My reservations are that the statement says that you are not fit for work, but at the same time that you may be fit for work. The statement makes 2 suggestions. The first being a phased return to work and the second about you having amended duties during this period of a month My concerns are that the amended duties will be very difficult to accommodate as you are what is called a “single post holder” and a specialist, so the company could not amend your duties as such, without in fact changing your role entirely. Furthermore regarding a phased return to work, I think we would have to discuss how you foresee this happening. The reason why I am saying this is because although the company would not be happier than to regain the services of its designer again, I am worried that as we have picked up 3 new orders in the last week and we are expecting 2 more very soon, even if you come to work for part of the day or part of the week, the environment will be one of high pressure because of the workload, which inevitably would not help with your condition. I do not want to put you in a position to have to perform tasks in very strict deadlines, as is required at the moment, if you are not feeling 100% ready to do so. Unfortunately, without having a further discussion in the near future I would not be in a position to understand your needs or requirements. However said all that, please understand that the company is open to discussing any suggestions or solutions you can offer. I believe we should discuss all this further to ensure that you come back in a productive way and with the best interest of your health in mind Please consider the above and let me have your thoughts. Today is our last day in the office. We return on the 4 th of January, but as I have said to you before, I will do my best to answer and/or address any questions or concerns you have in the meantime, as I will be checking my work email periodically.
