Writing by the Foundation students about the CFA visit

Yesterday Mary and Gary from the CFA came to school. We should have a smoke alarm in our home, and I had to crawl

and have an escape plan in our house. It was fun. By Kenzie

Gary and Mary came from the CFA and we learnt that smoke alarms are on the ceiling in houses and fire is

dangerous. When there is a fire we crawl out and houses have to have escape plans. By Dakota

Yesterday I saw Gary and Mary. They told us about smoke alarms. You should not have one in the kitchen. You have

one in the hallway. When there is a fire in the house we get the back of our hand and feel the door. You should ring

Grade 6 Melbourne Camp

Day 1. We arrived in Melbourne at around 10:30am and met Toongabbie Primary School at Doxa City Camp for an Induction.

We then had lunch and a play in the park at Flagstaff gardens.

After our lunch break at Flagstaff gardens we walked across to Parliament House, we had a tour and got told heaps of

information.

When we had finished at Parliament House we went to see ‘the big issue’ they explained the issue with homelessness and

people living with disadvantages around Melbourne.

We then went for a laneway street art tour, we saw all the different types of graffiti.

We had dinner at the Post Deng Café, at Chinatown. We then went on the Melbourne Star, it was amazing to see Melbourne like

this.

Day 2.

We went to the Melbourne Museum, we got to look around, we got told the story of Melbourne then we did the ‘our shared

story’ we were there until lunch.

For lunch we went to the Museum Gardens, we had subway.

After lunch we went to the immigration museum, it was really fun.

After the museums we walked to Gazi Greek Restaurant for dinner.

When we finished dinner we caught a tram out to Crown Casino for Galactic Circus.

We did laser tag and bowling

Day 3.

On Wednesday we went to the MCG, we had a really interesting tour, then we went downstairs into the National Sports Museum

and learnt about all people famous for their sporting career. When we finished we went to the gaming part, we tried all the

different interactives. It was a good experience.

After lunch we went to the old Melbourne gaol, we had a tour then we got to walk around and look for ourselves.

We had dinner at the Afghan Valley restaurant, it was really yum!

That night we stayed back at Doxa, we watched 10 Things I Hate About You.

Day 4.

We went to ACMI, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, we learnt about all the different types of movies and how

they’re made. After ACMI we went to the Shrine Of Remembrance, it was long but interesting.

After lunch we walked to MSAC, Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. We started off in the wave pool, playing some

keepings off, then we moved to the inflatable, we also had a go on the diving boards, after the diving boards we went on

the big water slide.

We had dinner at Grill’d Hamburger Restaurant in Melbourne Central.

After dinner we went to the Medibank icehouse for ice-skating, everyone had a go and it was a really fun night!

Day 5.

This was our last day. We all got packed up in the morning then went to the Queen Victoria Market. We all got to shop there

for an hour. After that we went back to doxa and said our thankyou and goodbyes. We walked down to Southern Cross

Station and waited for the bus. We got on the bus and had a long bus ride home!

Thankyou Mr Alley and Mrs Harvie for organising this amazing camp and leaving your families to come away for a week with us.

It was a great experience and we will never forget it. By April and Hollie.
