Creators Match Up Exhibition Held for the first time at the TDW, the "Creators Match Up Exhibition" provided a space for creators to connect with businesses. Thirty-
four primarily individual creators, from illustrators, product designers, and traditional craftsmen to paper cutout artists, exhibited their
work for a minimum of two days in an area equipped with space for business negotiation. Offers from high-class hotel interior design
firms and international retail buyers, invitations for overseas solo exhibitions, and consideration for collaboration with traditional
craftsmen were just some of the unique business opportunities that could only be found at TOKYO DESIGN WEEK.

Atelier and cafe produced by Akihiro Nishino, the famous comedian from the stand-up duo King Kong. Following
the concept of his previous exhibition "Otogi-machi Biennale," a project that drew over 10,000 visitors, Nishino
used stacked apple crates to create a warm and inviting space for his exhibition. Bringing in his own atelier desk
and various other interior pieces, Nishino displayed his original drawings in an unpretentious manner, and guests
enjoyed the exhibition as a way to connect with Nishino the artist.

Ornette Coleman Memorial JAZZ LIVE
Last June, Ornette Coleman, leader of the 1960s free jazz movement, passed away at the age of 85. During TDW, students of the
master gathered for a live jazz performance to remember their teacher. According to these artists, going beyond simple reminisces
of Ornette to further develop the skills he had given them was their way of showing their appreciation. This live performance
overcame traditional TDW contents made a deep impression on the many creators that gathered for TOKYO DESIGN WEEK.

Special Project:#emptyTDW(497 submissions)
Starting at 8:00 on October 25,
participants gathered to
photograph a deserted TDW in
"#emptyTDW". The #empty project
consists of selected Instagrammers
gaining access to freely
photograph museums, art spaces,
etc. after hours. This was the first
large-scale #empty event to be
held in Japan. Roughly 50
Instagrammers participated in the
event.
Special Project:TDW x gettyimages Photo Contest(1,067 submissions)
A photo contest created in
collaboration with Getty Images.
TOKYO DESIGN WEEK visitors
could submit their photos taken
during TDW by posting simply posting on Instagram (#ゲッティ
tdw、or #gettytdw). An awards
ceremony was held on the final day
of TDW.
SHIBUYA Halloween Ghostbusters &TRASH ART
An original project to turn the issue of post-Halloween litter into entertainment. The event was led by comedian Akihiro
Nishino (of the stand-up duo King Kong), who called for participants to gather in Shibuya's Hachiko Square at 6:00 AM on
November 1. Dressed in Ghostbusters costumes, over 500 volunteers gathered to help! After collecting all the trash,
Shibuya was once again returned to its original state. The garbage that was collected then became treasure, as 100
volunteers turned the same litter into works of TRASH ART on the grounds of TDW. TDW visitors were delighted as
Nishino's own objet d'art, "Trash Tree," was illuminated at night.

TOKYO DESIGN WEEK 2015 National Public Relations Overview
Trends and Features
• TDW received coverage not only from design-oriented media, but also
from media aimed at the general public such as music and fashion
magazines. This was the result of this year's special 30th anniversary
events, including the Ornette Coleman Memorial JAZZ LIVE, and contents geared towards the general public.
• Special collaboration projects, including "#emptyTDW" with Instagram and the
photo contest with Getty Images, as well as Nishino's Ghostbusters project, led to
greater SNS and media coverage, and allowed TOKYO DESIGN WEEK to reach a
broader audience.
• Events were also covered by Japanese media programs aimed at overseas
audiences, as well as travel media geared towards specific Asian countries and
overseas communities.
• This year TDW magnified the scale and enhanced the content of last year's
popular robot exhibition, and once again this exhibition was well covered by the
media.
