All our wheels undergo rigorous testing above and beyond what is normally required for most wheels. Each wheel is also put through a 2 cycle spoke tension release process to ensure that the wheel is true and round. This is our basic written standard and something we are very proud of at TOKEN. All carbon wheels come with a 2 year warranty and crash replacement policy.

WHAT IS AVT?

Using a high-tech material normally found in aerospace and military applications, TOKEN is bringing a whole new riding experience to the cycling world. When this technologically advanced material is combined with our carbon wheels the result is a super high tensile strength wheel which significantly reduces vibration. We simply call it, Anti-Vibration Technology! Or AVT because it’s just easier and takes less time to say.

AVT shares a lot of the same properties as Kevlar. We are not aiming to stop bullets, but the strength of Kevlar is one of the key factors we wanted from AVT in our wheels. Weight for weight,AVT is eight times stronger than steel, resistant to high temperatures, fatigue, impact and the corrosion from chemicals or saltwater.

Each wheel we build is subjected to a twin cycle spoke tension release process so that your wheelset is certified true and round.

All TOKEN wheelsets are warranted for a maximum of 5,000km of use, or 2 years, whichever arises first. All our carbon wheelsets are covered by TOKEN’s crash replace-ment policy for a maximum of 5,000km of use, or 2 years, whichever arises first.

Each of these qualities stand out on their own, but when you find the right mix it has an exceptional influence on who you will eventually become.

When designing a racing wheel, perfecting the right blend of key qualities is critical. Weight, stiffness, aerodynamics, rim profile, width and many others result in a truly great wheel. These days, there is a lot of hype about aerodynamics and wind tunnel performance. Of course, cutting down on wind matters, but what about manipulating airflow and using it to your advantage?

We looked at all of the factors that contribute to making the best wheel possible and the result is our HERO C45A wheel. It doesn’t just perform well in the wind tunnel, it actually improves your overall ride in real life situations like side winds, changing road conditions and varying weather.

The HERO C45A is equipped with a 45mm innovative rim shape featuring a lip at the inner edge of the rim. The lip provides extra strength and stiffness and splits crosswinds giving you more control than a traditional aero rim. In headwinds the lip pushes air around and away from the wheel. Greater levels of stability are also achieved thanks to a wider 23mm rim. Straight pull spokes laced in a diametric spoke pattern add further strength and stiffness while

HUBTBT BEARINGSTBT Bearings (Tiramic Bearing Technology) deliver outstanding performance. Ceramic balls are 60% lighter than steel, extremely durable, smoother and accelerate faster than their steel counterparts. The starting torque of Tiramic Bearings is only 74% of normal bearings while the turning torque is only 67% of normal bearings. Both these factors significantly reduce chain drag making pedalling lighter and your ride much smoother.

SPOKEDIAMETRIC SPOKE PATTERNOn the drive side of the rear wheel you’ll find double the number of spokes compared to the non-drive side. The two sides are metaphorically at war with each other as their battle to keep balanced spoke tension across the wheel rages on. THE BRIEF

"I've been training on the TOKEN C28 clincher wheelset for a few weeks now and I can't seem to take them off my bike. I should be just racing on them but there just incredible to ride and at 1,210grams the C28 is extremely light weight. It offers fantastic acceleration and is also a great climbing wheel. AVT (Anti-Vibration Technology)

TgX = Tg-eXtreme. Tg (glass transition) is the temperature at which the epoxy used to treat carbon rims begins to deteriorate. When the epoxy reaches Tg the outward pressure of the tire and tube can cause the rim’s sidewall to deform, potentially resulting in a catastrophic failure. We treated our rims with a high Tg epoxy to withstand the extreme temperatures created during braking. Coupled with our specially designed carbon rim brake pads the temperatures from braking dissipate faster and improve overall braking performance. TgX gives you extreme performance.

THE BRIEF“TOKEN is a name most people won’t instantly recognise as a wheel manufacturer, but that should be about to change. For the 2013 models they have completely overhauled the entire range from low-end clinchers to top-end tubular and have all new designs to re-evaluate the way people think about TOKEN wheels.”

The C55A clincher with alloy braking surface is a great all-round wheel that can take whatever punishment you can throw at it. With a 55mm aero profile rim, these wheels give you a distinct advantage on the flats. Under power you’ll discover efficient power transfer, and when sprinting, the wheels stay firm underneath you.

The 55mm rim profile is easy to control even in side winds thanks to its aero design. With 20 spokes up front and 24 in the rear, this slightly higher spoke count means lower spoke tension resulting in a more comfortable ride.

With a lighter coloured decal compared to the classic black carbon rim, the wheels will stand out in the crowd and are sure to attract the attention of onlookers. Our Shark Tail skewers, currently on display at the reddot design mu-seum in Germany, complete the wheelset.

T50S Carbon TubularROAD RACING WHEELSET

THE BRIEF

Most tubular wheels that have internal nipples attach the spokes either to the inside of the aero section of the rim to reduce the overall length of the spoke, or attach them to what would be a traditional looking box section rim that uses an aero “fairing” that is glued to the box section rim to complete the profile. The latter is said to improve wheel stiffness and performance by those who use the design.

At TOKEN, we are taking things one step further with our patented G-Spoke design. Using metal grommets to support the load of the spoke, the same portion of the rim that the tyre is attached to, actually supports the nipple and spoke. By attaching the G-Spokes directly to the outer part of the rim you’ll get better power transfer to the tire, since there is less rim material between the two.

The G-Spoke design has been a few years in the making, and currently only available on our T50S wheel set.

TOKEN have partnered with Ashima to create a dedicated hub for their AiNeon brake rotor. AiNeon is a two-piece brake rotor comprising of a stainless steel outer ring and a central aluminium spider which dissipates high braking temperatures more efficiently. At 72 grams AiNeon is one of the lightest two-piece rotors around.

AiNeon is one of the first dedicated commercial brake systems to offer a standard 3 rotor bolt construction. Semi and pro-riders have been using 3 bolts for a while now to save on weight, so there's nothing new or alarming about that. Many traditionalists argue over the compromise in strength, but test results show that this is just not the case. AiNeon was tested with a braking force of 700N and repeated 1,000 times. No failures were discovered. (EN testing normally requires 425N max.) For those still not convinced the hub and rotor are also offered in 6 rotor bolt construction.

EPS Magnet

Prior to the maintenance, fitting or removal of all Campagnolo EPS shifting systems you must first switch the unit off using an EPS magnet. However, while riding, you need somewhere to store the EPS magnet because it could easily get misplaced.

Token have designed an alloy valve & cap set to store that all important magnet. The valve & cap set is precisely CNC machined, and contains a small steel bolt so that the magnet is held tightly in place while riding. Weighing in at a mere 1.6g, so wheel balance will not be affected.

TOKEN Tiramic Bearing Grease: TK400TK400 is a combination of ester oil, synthetic hydrocarbon oil, mineral oil and Barium complex soap. This combination makes it an excellent lubricant for rolling bearings and can be easily applied by brush, spatula, grease gun or cartridge. It has a service temperature range of -40。c → 130。c with a Kluber viscosity grade of M. All these characteristics make TK400 the perfect complement to TOKEN’s Tiramic Bearings.

Reinforced, Stabilized Nylon CageThe ball cage is made of heat stabilized nylon with 33% fill short fiberglass reinforcement for added strength. The nylon material provides natural lubrication offering longer life. Fiberglass reinforcement allows for higher operating temperatures than plain nylon, yet is more resistant to fatigue than metallic cages. Short fiberglass allows greater flexibility than steel or normal fiberglass, especially under misalignment. That means longer life in mounted bearings where some degree of misalignment is unavoidably encountered.

Dual Lip Labyrinthian Low-Friction SealThis specially designed seal keeps the grease inside the bearing and prevents dust or water from getting in. The light-contact type seal is highly waterproof and offers extremely low levels of friction. The result is smooth, clean rolling, longer lasting, lower maintenance bearings.
