• 2800 Years ago, King Minos of Crete had the first flushing water closet recorded. • King Minos was the first one to run hot and cold water. • The toilets had a hole cut in it and were made of fired brick• They are found on the Isle of Crete and in the Harappa Civilization in Western India

o1829- Tremont Hotel was the first hotel to have indoor plumbing and 8 water closets fitted by Isaiah Rogers.o1880- Thomas Crapper patented some minor improvements to the toilet. Brought toilet design and modern technology together. oUsually seats were wood and toilet was usually emptied by pulling a chain. Very decorated and attractive.oTanks were elevated.
