Daniel 6:1-22

• After King Darius of the Medo-Persian empire conquered Babylon, he made Daniel a very powerful official. Some of the officials plotted to destroy Daniel. They went to Darius and convinced him to make an unchangeable law that whoever prays to anyone other than the king for thirty days would be thrown to the lions.

• When these officials caught Daniel praying to God they brought him to the king. The king was very sorry and tried to find a way to save Daniel. When he could not, he was forced to throw Daniel in the lion’s den.

• “But the King spoke, saying to Daniel, ‘Your God, whom you serve continually, will deliver you,’”

• God sent an angel to close the mouths of the lions so Daniel was not hurt. When the king found that Daniel was still alive the next morning, he brought Daniel out and threw the officials in.

• King Darius then made a decree that all had to tremble and fear Daniel’s God.

“I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God and steadfast forever; His kingdom is one

which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end.” Daniel 6:26
