Scientific Notation• Used for very large or very small numbers,

eliminates the need for writing a lot of zeroes.• Example 7,532,000,000 is written as

7.532 109

• Must have a number from 1 to 9 left of decimal, all remaining numbers are to the right.

• The exponent tells how many places the decimal is moved.

• Positive exponent means decimal was moved to the left, negative exponent decimal was moved to the right.
