Vicent van Gogh’s life Vincent van Gogh, for whom color was the

chief symbol of expression, was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland. The son of a pastor, brought up in a religious and cultured atmosphere, Vincent was highly emotional and lacked self-confidence.

Some of the things that make his work so distinctive are the swirls that move through and around the objects in his work, the thick paint, deep brush strokes, and bright colors.

Starry Night

The painting depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day. Since 1941 it has been in the permanent collection of the museum Modern Art in New York city .

Sunflowers

Sunflowers are the subject of two series of still life paintings. The main color is yellow mix with other colors which symbolizes Vincent van Gogh’s most famed, but contentious, collaboration with a fellow contemporary – Gauguin himself.
