Backing up data with dedicated viewer software .Recorded data can be backed up to the built-in DVD-R drive or external USB memory. Whenever a backup copy is made, viewer software that allows image viewing on a PC is also copied to the backup medium.

Secure measures protect system.System security is also provided by a user log-in password corresponding to the operation level and USB-based protection that “locks” the unit, preventing operation or any changing to the settings unless a registered USB memory key is used. To safeguard recorded images, the DVRs are supplied with software that will detect images that have been altered.

Wide selection of recording modes.Recording modes are Priority recording, Auto recording (Alarm even/Normal), Pre-recording.

Accurate time synchronizing.Recording time data is absolutely essential for the integrity of the recorded images, so the new DVR units include a NTP server-based time correction function. Time correction can also be accessed for TOA combination cameras that are connected to the DVR.

Full-featured remote controller assists operation. The C-RM1000 remote controller can control the new DVR C-DR161/091 Series in addition to TOA combination dome cameras via the DVR. A single remote controller can control up to eight DVR units and when the maximum eight DVRs are cascaded, controlling 128 combination dome cameras becomes possible.

Grouping maximizes surveillance efficiency.Effective surveillance is accomplished by dividing surveillance into multiple zones for security purposes, and this is desirable for many sites including factories, commercial facilities, schools and buildings. The new DVR also makes it possible to group using the C-RM1000 remote controller, helping to easily configure optimal, sophisticated systems.

Versatile system expansion possibilities for fulfilling specific requirements.Utilizing the new DVR C-DR161/091 Series makes it possible to assemble large-scale systems using up to eight DVR units incascade configuration. Each DVR unit can have two externalHDD expansion units and the system can be efficientlyoperated using up to a maximum of 4 remote controllers. Suchlarge systems allow connecting up to 128 cameras with HDDexpanded externally by up to 4.8TB per DVR unit. Configuringsystems as needed can be performed efficiently as well aseconomically as special or dedicated devices are not required.

Remote control capabilities via network enhance system performance.A DVR from the C-DR161/091 Series offers remote surveillance, search and playback of recorded images via a 10/100 BASE-T network. Remote surveillance can be performed just with unit controls without dedicated software and control can be performed via a web browser such as Internet Explorer. In addition, there is an e-mail transmission function to report alarm.

High picture quality with high frame rate.TOA DVRs feature a maximum high frame rate of 100 IPS for image recording with a high picture quality of 720 x 240 pixels. Each camera in a system can have individual settings for recording rate and picture quality which in turn enable setting priority recording.

Multiple search modes for quicker results.Searching recorded data is easy as various data search modes are offered: Time/day search and Event search (priority recording, timer recording, alarm recording, motion detection recording). This versatility makes it possible to select an optimal search method for particular requirements.

C-RM500 Remote Controller

C-IF500 Interface Unit

C-AL80 Alarm Unit

The C-RM500 Remote Controller is designed for use in camera-based systems that allow remote control from up to 1.2km away over RS-485 communication lines. It allows video images to be switched remotely and can handle a maximum of 16 TOA's Combination Dome Cameras when used together with the TOA Multiplexer. Easy-to-see LEDs inform status of control, alarm, focus and other functions.Power Source: 12V DC.

A useful option for configuring camera systems, the C-IF500 functions as a splitter. It provides control over expanding a camera system when the distance is over 1.2km (max. 3km) between the dedicated C-RM500 Remote Controller and system cameras linked to it. It will also allow configuring a star connection. Receiving the RS-485 communication line serial signals, the C-IF500 splits the signals into 4-channel data for slave units and converts into RS-232C data to be used for public line or fiber optics communication. Data communi-cation between master and slave terminals is bidirectional. The C-IF500 also allows easily setting the data communication data transfer rate in four increments via DIP switch to suit network requirements.Power source: 12V DC.

The C-AL80 Alarm Unit serves as the main controller for the alarm requirements of a system by converting alarm signals initiated by externally connected equipment into RS-232C-compatible signal data. In addition to its 32 alarm or remote inputs, the C-AL80 can also be linked to a maximum of 8 other C-AL80 units in master/slave configurations. This provides a total of 256 alarm or remote inputs to be transmitted to the C-RM500 remote controller. Power Source: 230V AC.

Magnification sensitivity can be increased as needed all the way up to x64 in steps of x2, x4, x6, x8, x10, x16, x24, x32 and x64 to compensate for lighting conditions that may be unsatisfactory. Sensitivity is boosted automatically to the point where good images can be captured. The camera now works well with a minimum illumination level of as low as 0.01 lx, enabling night video surveillance in color.

TOA'S Wide Dynamic Range cameras have been designed to overcome the problems encountered by conventional CCD cameras. Most of these problems originate from trying to accurately focus when the area of coverage includes areas with varying brightness. Because cameras in some cases are affected by the bright areas they are monitoring, there are some hard-to-see dark areas. When backlight compensation mode is selected, the camera divides an image into 48 segmented areas and compares the brightness in each area, to automatically adjust the required amount of backlight compensation for the desired segments.

The user selects the image area that is most important forviewing by segments. The backlight function then works toadjust light conditions concentrating on the selected imagearea, providing optimal view for effective monitoring. The 3 segment selection options for compensation are:Pattern 1 that selects segments located in the center and lower half of the screen. Pattern 2 for a user-defined single area. Manual for precise user-defined control for selecting one or more segments that will be backlight-compensated.

* Backlight compensation is switched off when the wide dynamic range function is used.

Backlight compensation

High resolution imagesTOA cameras provide a high horizontal resolution level of 500 lines for excellent image quality.

Privacy masking functionFor privacy protection, users are allowed to select up to 4 locations to be masked in a camera's field of view.

Motion Detection FunctionA screen is divided into 48 segments, and motion detection is performed in each of the segmented areas. When motion is detected, motion-detection signals can be output from the remote unit C-RU10 via the coaxial cable used for sending image signals from the camera.*This function is possible only when the camera is used together with the C-RU10.

Output of both image and alarm signals via a single cable

The camera is equipped with a terminal for input of sensor signals. The alarm signals from a sensor can be superposed on the coaxial cable used for transmitting images captured by the camera. This feature reduces cumbersome cabling.*This function is possible only when the camera is used together with the C-RU10.

Minimum required illumination of 0.5 lx Featuring high sensitivity that is minimum required illumination of 0.5 lx (350mV), TOA cameras deliver clear color and full motion images even under poor lighting conditions.

B/W mode.

(color image)

(B/W image)

Sensitivity boost allows cameras to provide good color image quality for dark areas.

When an illumination level of the monitoring area becomes too low for capturing clear images in color, the camera automatically switches to the B/W mode. This function makes it possible to monitor target and target areas that cannot be seen in normal light.* boosting sensitivity may increase the afterimage phenomenon as

shutter speed is reduced.* Using B/W mode requires dedicated lens.

*Focus Adjustment without the ND filterIris and depth of fieldWhen adjusting focus, an important aspect is depth of field, actually the depth of the focus. The term depth is used is because we can describe it as being deep or shallow. If the in-focus area goes well into (long distance) the subject field is referred to as being deep. If the background area is not in focus but the subject field is in sharp focus, the field is referred to as being shallow.

The depth of field will change depending on the focal length of the lens, the iris of the lens and the shooting distance. And in surveillance cameras, the lens iris has an effect on focusing. As the diagram makes clear, the wider the lens iris opening size, the shallower will be the depth of field.

ND Filter

ON OFF

Why will correct focus set during the day go off at night? That’s because focus has not been precisely set. Shooting with an auto-iris lens, the amount of light during the day makes the lens iris opening stay small. This results in a deep depth of field. But as day turns to night, the lens iris opens to get more light, the depth of field is reduced and the focus goes off. To adjust the focus, it is necessary to open the lens iris and reduce the depth of field. When using an auto-iris lens, the ND filter must be used to approximate nighttime light conditions so that the lens iris stays open and depth of field is reduced before adjusting the focus.

* Neutral Density (ND) Filter:A filter which reduces light coming through the camera lens without any effect on the light’s color temperature.

Adjustment switch makes focusing simple.TOA Compact Cameras do not require an ND filter for adjusting focus. By just setting the focus adjustment switch on the camera to ON, the lens iris opens and a shallow depth of field is maintained. To achieve perfect focus simply and easily, just set the adjustment switch ON, adjust focus and then set the switch OFF.

Motion Detection FunctionTOA's new multiplexers incorporate an extremely useful function of smart image detection. The object size and detection areas can be set for each camera individually.

Object Size SettingsThe full screen is divided into 192 frames (16 horizontal x 12 vertical) which do not appear on the screen.Size of the object for detected can be set by selecting horizontal and vertical frames and inputting these values.

Motion Detection Area settingThe full screen is divided into 16 areas (4 horizontal x 4 vertical) and motion detection can be set to activate in any of the 16 areas.

For example, when wishing to eliminate constantly moving portions such as trees swayed by wind from the motion detection area, set the corresponding area to OFF(- -).

Sensitivity SettingTo minimize detection errors, five levels of sensitivity settings are provided to allow fine adjustment control.

The multiplexer detect the change of brightness in the area that is larger than the set object size in the activated areas.

Alarm RecordingThe number of recording frames for the camera that detected motion can be set to increase.

For example, when wishing to detect a person but not wishing to detect a dog, set the object size to be larger than the dog and smaller than a person. If the object size is set for 2 horizontal x 5 vertical frames, such as in the figure at right, a person's motion can be detected, but motion of the dog willnot be detected.

Versatile Alarm Functions

TOA multiplexers offer many alarm functions that are easily set in the setup menu.

Sensor Alarm: Each camera connected is equipped with a sensor input terminal. Alarm activation triggers a buzzer while onscreen display warning and video recording speed is automatically set to standard speed. Multiple Alarm Inputs allow prioritizing cameras when an alarm is generated. When multiple alarms are generated, video image switching is suspended and the alarms are put on hold so that the operator can select the alarm’s corresponding camera’s images to view in desired order. In addition, each alarm terminal can be set to notify on a break-or-make or make basis.

VCR Reproduction Alarm: A buzzer sounds when playing back the part of a recording that contains a sensor alarm event.

Video Loss Alarm: Alerts when power or signal from a particular camera is lost. Letters "VL" and the camera ID number will be displayed.

Alarm Information: Dates, times and camera ID number of sensor and video loss alarms can be reviewed on an independent alarm information screen. A maximum of 64 events will be recorded and a new event will record over the oldest event.

Guidelines on Line Band, Sound Quality and Delay Time

NOTES:

Note 1: Voice packet size Voice packet size other than for “Line band of 1.5 Mbps or

higher” is for data of 1024 bytes. Voice packet size for “Line band of 1.5 Mbps or higher” is for

data of 256 bytes (PCM)/32 bytes (Sub-Band ADPCM) data.

Note 2: Voice Packet Loss RecoveryVoice Packet Loss Recovery is a processing method when a voice packet cannot be received due to communication interference.

Silence: Method of processing lost sectors as silence. Redundancy: Method of accurately outputting continuous

losses of up to 8 packets. Resend: Method of accurately outputting continuous

losses of up to 15 seconds.

Note 3: Required bandRequired band represents the frequency band required for voice transmission. When it is necessary to transmit serial data, a transmission band is separately required.
