The QuestMicah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORDrequire of thee, but to do justly, and to lovemercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

To do Justly:Refers to who you are! The person’scharacter.

To Love mercy:Is an attitude that determines how yourelate to others.

To walk humbly with God:Is the quest.

Adam walked with God; that made his world aparadise. That paradise was lost when he lostcontact with God. God now seemed a millionmiles away. Adam had to leave paradise and makehis own way in the world.

Is it possible for us to talk with Jesus in such away that we can know Him like Moses did, face to face? Is it possible to have Jesus showyou around heaven? Is it possible to have angelstalk with you, instruct you? Is it possible?

Is this kind of walk limited to a few chosenones, mystics who lived in the deserts, givingtheir lives to contemplation and mysticism,or is it available to the ordinary Christian?

The answer is a resounding YES. This kind ofwalk is available to all who desire it with alltheir heart. We can negotiate the stumblingblocks of Christian tradition, dogma, anddownright unbelief. The Bible from beginningto end shows us that God seeks to walk with, communicate with him, to relate to him.

GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS:He wants to walk with you.

FIRST THINGS FIRSTWe must lay some foundations which are vital.

Not Gifts: But a RelationshipBeing proficient inspiritual gifts does notmean we have arelationship with God.You may move in thegifts of the Spirit butnot Know God. Manymove in the gifts of theSpirit without having arelationship with the giver of the gifts.

It is also true, that many people who do notclaim to be spirit filled have a real walk withGod.

Foundations are very important, if you buildon a wrong or inadequate foundation you willbe in trouble later.

God requires certain things of us in order toestablish an ongoing vital relationship withus. Our understanding of these requirementsand our commitment to them is of utmostimportance and cannot be overlooked.

The Spirit of Deafness In Mark 9:25 Jesus casts out a deaf and dumbspirit. These spirits had made this man unableto hear and speak. This also can be true in thespiritual.

ation

You can move in the gift of Prophecyand be accurate in the Word ofKnowledge and not know God. Giftsare no indication of spirituality.

GOD’S QUEST:Was to make a way back to Himself

Is to find that way back.

8 | To Walk With God

Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxedgross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, andtheir eyes they have closed; lest at any time theyshould see with [their] eyes and hear with [their]ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Isaiah 29:10 For the LORD hath poured outupon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closedyour eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seershath he covered.

John 12:40 He hathblinded their eyes, andhardened their heart;that they should not seewith [their] eyes, norunderstand with [their]heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

II Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this worldhath blinded the minds of them which believenot, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

How or why does one become spiritually deaf?Jesus illustrated this in an incident when hehealed a blind man.

Read: Mark 8:22-26.

Mark 8:22 And hecometh to Bethsaida;and they bring a blindman unto him, andbesought him to touchhim.

Mark 8:23 And he took the blind man by thehand, and led him out of the town; and when hehad spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him,he asked him if he saw ought.

Mark 8:24 And he looked up, and said, I seemen as trees, walking.

Mark 8:25 After that he put [his] hands againupon his eyes, and made him look up: and hewas restored, and saw every man clearly.

Mark 8:26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell [it] toany in the town”.

Note:

♦ The setting was the town of Bethsaida♦ The man was blind♦ Jesus had to take him out of the town

to heal him♦ Jesus forbade the man to tell anyone in

this town about the miracle

What does this tell us?Firstly the town of Bethsaida was a town whereJesus demonstrated His glory with great signsand wonders bringing the true gospel to thesepeople.(See Mat 11:20.) When these peoplerejected what Jesus had said to them, theybecame spiritually blind and deaf.

V26 indicates that this town was to receiveno more light or truth. The whole town wasbound by a spirit of deafness .

Once this spiritual deafness sets in, one cannothear the voice of God anymore.

This then brings into play a new spiritualprinciple, that of Eze. 14:3-4.

Ezekiel 14:3 Son of man, these men have set uptheir idols in their heart, and put thestumblingblock of their iniquity before their face:should I be inquired of at all by them?

Ezekiel 14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and sayunto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every manof the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in hisheart, and putteth the stumblingblock of hisiniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet;I the LORD will answer him that comethaccording to the multitude of his idols;God will then answer us according to the idolsin our heart. To put it simply, we will hearfrom another spirit other that God.

Important Insight from the life of King AhabIn 1 Kings 22 King Ahab wanted the prophetsto prophesy good things to him, things he

Foun

A Spirit of deafnessmay be stopping you

hearing from God

The Apostle Paul understood that aspiritual entity could cause blindness,ie the inability to hear the gospel.

Spiritual deafness occurs when we hearfrom God but continually do not obeyhim.

When we refuse to hear what God issaying to us, and we refuse to do it,this is a sure sign that something elsecomes first in our lives other thanGod. This is idolatry.

wanted to hear.

He goes to the prophets and asks them if heshould go into battle against the Syrians. Theprophets said “YES, FOR GOD WILL BEWITH YOU”. Ahab was still not sure so hewent to a prophet who always told him thetrue word of the Lord.

Now this prophet lies to him.v15 Why? “Hesays go, you will prosper, God is with you”.Ahab says “tell me the truth”. The prophetreplied “ you will be destroyed”. Ahab then saysto him “I knew your prophecy would benegative”. Now the prophet says somethingthat gives us great insight….

The Prophet had seen something take placein heaven

I Kings 22:19 And he said, “Hear thou thereforethe word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sittingon his throne, and all the host of heaven standingby him on his right hand and on his left.

I Kings 22:20 And the LORD said, Who shallpersuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall atRamoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

I Kings 22:21 And there came forth a spirit, andstood before the LORD, and said, I will persuadehim.

I Kings 22:22 And the LORD said unto him,Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and Iwill be a lying spirit in the mouth of all hisprophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade [him],and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

I Kings 22:23 Now therefore, behold, the LORDhath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all thesethy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evilconcerning thee.”

God answered him according to the idols in

his heart, because Ahab refused to hear anddo what God had said to him.

This is fundamental to the rest of thesestudies. If we don’t get this right nothing willwork for us.

This requires a complete surrender to God ofour lives. We must exist for His purposes, notours.

THE BOND SERVANT RELATIONSHIPIn the New Testament we often see theintroduction to an Epistleusing the phrase -

James 1:1 James, a servant of God2 Peter1:1 Simon Peter, a servantJude 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ,Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God,

They used this introduction to indicate arelationship they had with Jesus. Every Jewwho heard this phrase new what it meant. Tous today it is lost, unless we understand thesignificance of this terminology.

There are two Hebrew and two Greek wordsused in the bible for the word servant.

Two Hebrew words ... Two Greek words

HebrewSakiyr: A hired servantEbed: A Bond Servant

GreekDiakonos: Deacon, servant, ministerDoulos: A Bond Servant

We need to distinguish between the two. Wewill see that there is a world of differencebetween a Servant and a Bond Servant.

WHAT IS A BOND SERVANT?

Exodus 21:2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, sixyears he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall goout free for nothing.

Exodus 21:3 If he came in by himself, he shall goout by himself: if he were married, then his wifeshall go out with him.

dation

If we are to hear from God, we mustsettle in our hearts and before Godthat we will obey Him.

Exodus 21:4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wifeand her children shall be her master’s, and heshall go out by himself.

Exodus 21:5 And if the servant shall plainly say,I love my master, my wife, and my children; Iwill not go out free:

Exodus 21:6 Then his master shall bring himunto the judges; he shall also bring him to thedoor, or unto the door post; and his master shallbore his ear through with an awl; and he shallserve him for ever.

These Scriptures describe a bond servantcommitment.

When a servant chose to become a BondServant a whole new commitment andrequirements were required.

SERVANT OR BOND SERVANT

Servant: He got a wageHe could spend it, as he likedHe had days off and could do, ashe likedHe could marry whom he wishedHe could quit at any timeHe could be fired

Bond Servant:Has no days offDoes not get paidHas no money of his ownCannot own anythingHas only what the master givesHas no rightsMarries only who the masterchoosesHe must obey without questionat all times

Bond Servant Privileges:His master pledges to look afterhimHe will provide everything heneedsHe will protect him with his life!

A Bond Servant, was given muchresponsibility.

NOTE: Abram’s Bond Servant

Genesis 24:2 And Abraham said unto his eldestservant of his house, that ruled over all that hehad, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

Genesis 24:10 And the servant took ten camelsof the camels of his master, and departed; for allthe goods of his master [were] in his hand: andhe arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the cityof Nahor.

He ruled over all of Abrams house. All of Abrams goods were in his hand.

He was almost a joint heir with Abram.

THIS IS THE KIND OF RELATIONSHIPTHAT JESUS WANTS WITH YOU

But first: We have to become a Bond Servant.

THE PIERCING OF THE EAR

This signified that this servant had an ear onlyfor the master.

In Lev 4 & 8 The priest was consecrated bythe putting of oil and blood on his ear.

The blood set him apart. The oil anointed him.The Blood sanctified him: Set apart.See Heb 13:12The oil anointed his ear to hear.

First he had to be set apart. This is thecommitment to be set apart for the Master(Jesus).

Then the oil was applied he was then anointedto hear.

Jesus had this relationship with His FatherIsaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me thetongue of the learned, that I should know how tospeak a word in season to [him that is] weary: hewakeneth morning by morning, he wakenethmine ear to hear as the learned.

Your presentrelationship with the

Lord is that of aservant or bond servant

relationship

If we are to be able to clearly hear thevoice of the Lord, this bond servantcommitment is first required of us.

Isaiah 50:5 The Lord GOD hath opened mineear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned awayback.

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of noreputation, and took upon him the form of aservant, (Bond Servant) and was made in thelikeness of men:

This was also the key to the Apostlesrelationship with Jesus.

In Rm 12:1 We are encouraged to presentourselves to God as a living sacrifice.

Dedicating the TempleIn the Old Testament the dedication of thetemple was a very important event in theNation of Israel.

When Moses had finished building theTabernacle, it was then dedicated to God.

There is a remarkable statement in Leviticus9:6 which is a promise and condition for Godsglory appearing to us.

Leviticus 9:6 And Moses said, This [is] the thingwhich the LORD commanded that ye should do:and the glory of the LORD shall appear untoyou.

WHAT WERE THEY TO DO? so that theglory would come?.

They had to offer the 5 offerings previouslymentioned.

When they did this: THIS IS WHATHAPPENED

Leviticus 9:23 And Moses and Aaron went intothe tabernacle of the congregation, and came out,and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORDappeared unto all the people.

Leviticus 9:24 And there came a fire out frombefore the LORD, and consumed upon the altarthe burnt offering and the fat: [which] when allthe people saw, they shouted, and fell on theirfaces.

THE GLORY AND THE FIRE CAMEDOWN.

Many years later when Solomon had built thetemple and dedicated it to God; the samething happened.

When Solomon became king the first thinghe did was to begin to offer offerings to theLord.

II Chronicles 1:6 And Solomon went up thitherto the brazen altar before the LORD, which [was]at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offereda thousand burnt offerings upon it.

The response from God was this.

II Chronicles 1:7 In that night did God appearunto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what Ishall give thee. (Solomon is establishing arelationship with the Lord)

When Solomon built the temple anddedicated it, look what happened.

II Chronicles 5:1 Thus all the work that Solomonmade for the house of the LORD was finished:and Solomon brought in [all] the things thatDavid his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put heamong the treasures of the house of God.

II Chronicles 5:6 Also king Solomon, and all

This hearing relationship wasconnected to His dedication to theFather as a Bond Servant.

THIS WAS THE KEY TO JESUSRELATIONSHIP WITH HISFATHER.

The complete surrenderof our lives to the Lordis the basic foundationfor developing a walkwith Him.

the congregation of Israel that were assembled untohim before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered formultitude.

II Chronicles 5:13 Itcame even to pass, as thetrumpeters and singers[were] as one, to makeone sound to be heard inpraising and thankingthe LORD; and whenthey lifted up [their] voice

with the trumpets and cymbals and instrumentsof music, and praised the LORD, [saying], For[he is] good; for his mercy [endureth] for ever:that [then] the house was filled with a cloud,[even] the house of the LORD;

II Chronicles 5:14 So that the priests could notstand to minister by reason of the cloud: for theglory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

THE FIRE AND THE GLORY CAMEDOWN AND FILLED THE TEMPLE.

Know ye not that you arethe temple of the HolySpirit 1Cor 6:19

Had not God said toMoses: If you do this theGlory of the Lord willappear to you !

YOU MUST BECOME A BONDSERVANT.

I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that yourbody is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] inyou, which ye have of God, and ye are not yourown?

Matthew 16:25 For whosoever will save his lifeshall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life formy sake shall find it.

The complete surrender of our lives to theLord is the basic foundation for developing awalk with Him.

Where the heart isGods Word Say’s. Matthew 6:21 For where

your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

If you are going to hear God’s voice and walkwith Him you have to have a desire and hungerfor this to be so.

You have to have a Holy dissatisfaction of whereyou are now in relationship to this.

You must hunger and thirst for it.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hungerand thirst after righteousness: for they shall befilled.

Psychologists tell us that:We remember what is important to us.We also learn quickly those things, which are important to us.

This is vital if you are to know the voice of theLord.

Reticular Activating SystemGod has built into a part of our brain a functionthat filters out unimportant information andfocuses on that which is meaningful to us. Itis called Reticular Activating System (RAS)(Selective hearing is a brain function).

1) A Mother and her baby:

A new mother is so tuned in to herbaby’s needs she can hear the slightestsound it makes in the night. Every timethe baby moves, sighs, the mother wakesup.

2) Airports:

People who live by airports or railroadtracks after a while are no longerbothered by the noise of planes or thetrain rumbling by. It has been filteredout.

Solomon knew something that mostChristians don’t: That is, when yougive yourself to God He responds in aglorious way.

IN DEVELOPING A HEARINGEAR. THE DEDICATION OF OURLIVES TO THE LORD IS THEFIRST STE.

HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS THISTO YOU WILL DETERMINE TOSOME DEGREE HOW WELLYOUR HEAR THE LORDS VOICE.

Page 13: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Foundation

To Walk With God | 13

Denis Waitly explains:

The “Reticular Activating System” filters out theunimportant stimuli and focuses on what isimportant at the moment. Once you have madea distinction that a certain value, thought, idea, sound, picture, or feeling is important orsignificant to you, your RAS is alerted. Itimmediately transmits any information it receivesregarding this significant item into yourconsciousness.Denis Waitly. Seeds of Greatness( New York Pocket books,pp123-124)

WHEN YOU DECIDE THAT HEARINGGOD IS VITAL: Your RAS starts putting Godthrough when He speaks. You hear Him withthe same intensity that a mother hears hernewborn baby.

The RAS is a natural function of the brainand it works to alert us to the natural thingswe have decided are important, AND will alertus to what is coming from the spiritual worldin the way of impressions, pictures, words etc.

Until, your number one priority is that of hearingGod, you are not going to hear Him very well.Hearing Him must have top priority in your life.

Until you have a deep hunger to hear Him youwill find it difficult to hear Him.

THESE BASIC FOUNDATIONS MUST BEIN PLACE FIRST AS YOU START YOURQUEST TO WALK WITH GOD.

1) The bond servant commitment has to

be made.

2) Where is your heart? What is the mostimportant thing to you?

3) The quest is to walk with God. Are youwilling to pay the price?

4) Hearing is not enough, doing is vital tokeep our ear open to hear God.

He that hath an ear to hear let him hear whatthe spirit saith Rev 2:11.

We have the capacity. The ability must bedeveloped.

Getting free from the spirit of deafness

1) Repent of all disobedience and self will,in regard to things you have beendisobedient on in the past. When Godhas spoken and you have not followedup in obedience you must repent.

2) Make a commitment, dedication, ie(Bond Servant) to obey the voice of theLord at all times.

Once your mind decides something isimportant- like the crying of a baby, your RAS will bring it to yourattention every time.

Your RAS records everything but willonly put through what you havedecided is important.

The Mind

To Walk With God | 15

Terminology: I believe it is legitimate to referto: Jesus, The Lord, God, and the Holy Spirit,as one and the same. Whereas the Bible doesrefer to Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit asseparate entities, when we talk about hearingfrom God, walking with God, any of the threemay be active in this communication but theprinciples remain the same for all (see diagrambelow).

The Lord can communicate with us in WordsFeelings and Pictures.

As we become more skilled in recognisingthese ways of communication from the Lord, our relationship with Him will deepen.

Incompatibility between our spirit and ourmind is one of the greatest hindrances towalking with God in the Spirit.

All spiritual communication eventually has toregister in your mind.

This then poses a problem, the mind can beinadequate in recognising and processingspiritual communication.

Nothing in a persons life is closer to the spiritthan his mind. The mind is the mechanism for learningmatters in the intellectual and material realms;your spirit is the mechanism for perceivingrealities in the spiritual realm.

Both work very closely together and need eachother.

The Bible speaks clearly about these twofunctions:

Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord JesusChrist, the Father of glory, may give unto you thespirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledgeof him:

Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understandingbeing enlightened; that ye may know what is thehope of his calling, and what the riches of theglory of his inheritance in the saints,

The Mind Working With the Spirit

Mind

Many Christians tend to downgrade theimportance of the mind when it comes towalking in the Spirit. There has been atrend in Charismatic thinking that impliesthat anything of the mind is of no spiritualvalue, some would even go a far as to say,“You must crucify, put to death the mind inorder to have a pure walk with God in theSpirit”. However we will se in this studythat just the opposite is true. We need a clear, sharp, renewed mind if we are going towalk with the Lord in any degree of clarityand reality.

All spiritualcommunicationeventually has toregister in the mind

Spiritual communications may bedivided into three categories.Feelings Words and Vision.

The Mind

16 | To Walk With God

The Holy Spirit moves in our spirit incommunication, this in turn is communicatedto our mind so that we can “walk according toGod in the spirit” 1Pet 4:6

This movement fromyour spirit to yourmind takes only afraction of a second. Itis so quick it seems asone operation.

You cannot walk withGod in the spiritwithout your mind

playing a complementary role.

Walking in the spirit involves walking in yourspirit, soul, and body before the Lord.

Your Mind: The Vital LinkBecause your mind is a vitally important linkin enabling you to hear from God, Satan willattack your mind. Temptation and thoughtcannot be separated.

Most external communication comes to youthrough your mind.

Your Brain: A fantastic ComputerYour brain is part of your physical body. It isan incredible organ with millions of glial cellsand miles of circuitry, it has infinite storagecapacity. Your brain records and storesincomming information in words, picturessmells, feelings etc.

It can be programmed and will run accordingto its programming.

When programs in your brain are triggered, that program will run, affecting yourbehaviour patterns.

Animals have a brain, but don’t have a spirit.Only man is made in the image of GodGen1:26

Animals have a pre-programmed brain. Wecall this instinct. When a tiny crocodile hatches out, it headsstraight for the water.Who told it to do that: Its brain, it’s instinct,is pre-programmed.

A dog cannot originate thought but it can betaught (programmed).

The Mind Needs Renewing

Your brain has to be re-programmed.We have to remove fromthe brain all thewrong programming. This wrongprogramming or this spirit of Anti-Christ hasto be erased. It has to be programmed withtruth.

God will communicate with your spirit, butyour unrenewed mind will reject it, won’taccept it. Your brain will run it’s programsand reject truth.

This is the natural mindI Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receivethnot the things of the Spirit of God: for they arefoolishness unto him: neither can he know [them],because they are spiritually discerned.Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmityagainst God: for it is not subject to the law ofGod, neither indeed can be.

The spiritual mind is in harmony with theLord and our spirit

One of the greatest hindrances to walking withGod in the spirit is the unrenewed mind.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way heshould go: and when he is old, he will not departfrom it.

Program a child with truth, it greatly affects

The

God is saying here that He will giveyou spiritual revelation(communication) so that your mindcan have knowledge. The first aspect,is a knowing intuitively, the second, isa knowing mentally.

God is aftercompatibility between

the mind and spirit

From the earliest age of our lives, ourbrain has been in the process of beingconstantly programmed, with bad andgood things, with truth and error.

If this renewing of the mind does notoccur you cannot walk with the Lordin the spirit very effectively. Yourmind will become a bottle-neck tospiritual communication.

Page 17: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

his behaviour.

When God is speaking to you and your braindoes not compute with what God is saying, that communication from the Lord will beconfused at best, totally rejected at worst.

God is after compatibility between mind andspirit.

When your mind is compatible with yourspirit, transformation will begin in you.

Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye:therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole bodyalso is full of light; but when [thine eye] is evil, thy body also [is] full of darkness.

The word single in this Scripture is the Greekword haplous meaning: “to be in harmonywith.”

The word evil means, “to be out of harmonywith”.

This verse of Scripture is saying: When yourmind is in harmony with the spirit you willbe full of light.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to thisworld: but be ye transformed by the renewing ofyour mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Transformed Gk metamorphoo. This level of transformation is seen in Mat 17:2when Jesus was transfigured.

Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them:and his face did shine as the sun, and his raimentwas white as the light.

The word transfigured here is the same wordas in Rom 12:2 transformed (metamorphoo)by the Renewing of your mind.

Note: Jesus was full of light (glory) by thisprocess of transfiguration.

Remember: Luke 11:34 . If your eye be singleyou will be full of light.

When there is harmony between your mindand your spirit there is no hindrance to theflow of God into your life. You will betransformed.

How the mind is renewedThe mind is renewed (re-programmed) byreceiving revelation.

When God’s word is made real to you byrevelation (Rhema), old values, concepts, thatare contrary to God’s word are erased andreplaced with truth and reality.

Two kinds of KnowledgeTwo Greek words are used for knowledge inthe New Testament.

gnosis and epignosis

Gnosis is the Greek word for intellectualknowledge, that which is learned by the mindwithout any spirit involvement.

Epignosis is the Greek word used forknowledge acquired through a spiritualencounter ie Revelation a Rhema word madereal by the Holy Spirit to our spirit and mind.A Living word from the Lord.

We call this Revelation Knowledge. This kind of encounter with the Lord theLiving Word, touches our heart, and emotionsand it brings life and renewal.

It reprograms your mind, imparting Godlyvalues and truth.

The Engrafted Word Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow ofwickedness, and receive with meekness theimplanted word, which is able to save your souls.NKJ James 1:21We have to approach God’s Word with acertain attitude.

With meekness. We can’t understand God’sword unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us.

Mind

When your head is saying one thing andyour spirit another you have confusion.

When there is harmonybetween you and yourspirit there will be nolimits to the flow ofGod into your life

Page 18: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

The Mind

18 | To Walk With God

This is a dependence that says, “Lord I needyou to make real your Word to me”.

Meekness also denotes an attitude that believesthat God’s Word is true, even though we don’tunderstand it.

When God spoke toAbraham and said“you must notcircumcise yourchildren until theeighth day”, Abrahamdid not understandwhy. Gen17:2

He didn’t know that the clotting factor in achild’s blood was not operative until theeighth day.

When God said “sparethe rod and spoil thechild,” (paraphrased)Prov 18:24, manythink, that does notreally apply today. Weknow better. Weunderstand the

psychological effect of things today better. Thatkind of arrogance will cost you dearly.

When God said that He had a very goodreason, whether you understand it or not, isimmaterial.

We must approach the word of God withmeekness. It is true whether we understand itor not.

When we come to God’s word with meeknesswe open ourselves up to revelation. Thatrevelation is a Living Word, an engrafted word.

Engrafted: Means implanted. A living thingproduces what it says or is. It SAVES THESOUL, not the spirit. The mind by this processis renewed.

You are what you eat:When you eat an apple it becomes part of you.Tissue, bone, cells.

This is true in what you feed into your mind,it becomes part of you.

What you listen, see, hear. Television isresponsible for imparting more anti Godconcepts than any other medium.

It implants values, concepts that are totallyopposite to the heart of God: Watch what youlook at.

The renewing of the mind requires that youreceive by revelation the Living Word, andthat you guard what you feed your mind with.

Once the mind begins to be renewed, you willbegin to hear more clearly the voice of the Lord.

A Narrow MindA narrow mind, will limit the ability of Godto speak to you about great things, largethings.

Moses was brought up in an environmentwhere anything was possible. The Pharaohsbuilt great pyramids, their world was a largeone this had a great effect on Moses, on hismindset.

When he had to confront Pharaoh in latteryears and take two million people through awilderness, his largeness of mind couldaccommodate what God was asking of him.Once our mind has begun to be renewed,God’s voice will begin to come through withmore clarity and preciseness.

You will begin to recognise the promptings ofthe Holy Spirit. That spontaneous flow ofthought, which comes from God, will be clear.

We have learned to walk in the body with allof it’s feelings and sensations, such as:

Heat, cold, tiredness, hunger, pain. We havelearned to recognise these feelings andsensations and respond to them adequately.

We think we know better, and thisarrogance towards God’s word hindersus from receiving revelation.

The Church is not supposed to beoperating a mentality of Tin-potEnterprises and narrow-mindedthinking. We are made, programmedto conquer and change the world.

Lay aside everything that defiles themind. Come with meekness. This isan attitude that has a certain approachto God’s Word.

The Mind

To Walk With God | 19

We have learned to walk in the Soul likewise, with all of it’s feelings and movements suchas:Joy, Fear Love, Anger, Jealousy, Compassion.

Now it is time we learned to walk in the SpiritMan. Feelings and Sensations of the spiritman. Burdens, Checks, in our spirit, themovements of the spirit man.

Let’s clear away the clutter, the things, whichhinder and find our way into a walk with God.

Key aspects

♦ In this study we have seen how vitalthe mind is to walking with God in thespirit.

♦ Nothing in our life is more close to ourspirit than our mind.

♦ We must not Deny, Put Off, Crucifythe mind. It is the natural mind of theOld Nature, that is at enmity with God.We are now a New Creation, the mindneeds reprogramming with truth.Never allow your mind to becomepassive or blank. Keep control of yourmind at all times.

♦ One of the greatest hindrances towalking with God in the spirit is theincompatibility between our mind andspirit. The mind must be renewed andbe in harmony with our spirit.

Profound change occurs in our liveswhen the mind is renewed. Thistransformation is achieved when ourmind is compatible with our spirit andthere is no conflict between the two.We then become full of light andtransfiguration begins transformingour Body and Soul.

A narrow mind willlimit the ability ofGod to speak to us ofgreat things

Language

Num 12.6-8 Then He said , “hear my words: Ifthere be a prophet among you, I the Lord makemyself known to him in a vision, and will speakto him in a dream.

Num 12:7 my servant Moses is not so, who isfaithful in all my house.

Num 12:8 With him I will speak mouth tomouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches;and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold.

You can move out of gifts without knowingthe lord

The language of heaven is very diverse andcomprehensive. Our native language is verylimited when compared to the language ofheaven.

When we are born into the kingdom of Godwe have to learn the language of thatkingdom. This language is far superior to ournative language.

The language of the spirit realm includesWords, Feelings, Vision, Pictures, Intuitiveknowing, and unspoken communication.

Why doesn't the Lord just tell us plainly? Why does He use dreams, visions, andsymbolism?.

1) The language of the spirit is muchgreater than human language.

2) Human language is flawed because ofthe fall.

3) Human language tends to go throughthe mind first, and then the heart or

spirit. The language of the heart ismuch greater than mere words, it is notjust facts, it includes feelings and mood.

4) In the language of the spirit, a pictureis worth a thousand words.

5) God is an eternal God, he speaks fromthe perspective of eternity, from whichwe too must see, if we are going to seeaccurately.

We see that the language of the spirit is fargreater than human language.

For Example:We know that silveroften representsredemption becausethe children of Israelpaid half a shekel ofsilver for theirredemption, Jesus wassold for silver etc.

We know that rain often represents teaching,"let my teaching drop as rain" Deut.32:2(NKJV).

We know that in the bible colours representcertain things.

White represents purity. Red can representsin, "though your sins be as scarlet". But redcan also represent the prophetic anointing.

Isaiah chapter 11:2. speaks about sevenanointings of the Holy Spirit. Theseanointings are represented by the seven spiritsof the Lord in Rev1:4, and the seven branchcandlestick in Rev1:12. and the seven lampsin Rev 4:5.The rainbow in Rev 4:3 speaks ofthe seven colours of the anointing.

Spiritual Language part one In the language of theSpirit a picture isworth a thousandwords

Note: The prophets move out of giftsthat come with that office, dreams andvisions. But Moses moved out of hisrelationship with God. This was ahigher level. To understand the voice of the Lord

we must also understand biblicalsymbols, which is one of the keys tounderstanding dreams and visions.

22 | To Walk With God

Language

The Spirit of the fear of the Lord Violet

However, we need to realise that these colourswhen in a different context can mean otherthings.

The Language ofFeelingsThis involves theemotions and thephysical body.

The Emotions: Cover three basic sensations:

Affections LoveDesires Longings, desiresFeelings These are very varied

Romans 8:16 The Spirititself beareth witnesswith our spirit, that weare the children of God:

To bear witness means,"to feel the same as".

Walking in The BodyWe have learned the promptings, sensationsof the body.

Hunger, Pain, Cold, Heat, and we havelearned how to respond to these feelings.

We have learned the sensations of our Soul:

Fear, Anger, Love, Jealousy, Pride,

We now have to learn and respond to thesensations in our spirit

These are not voices but feelings. This is thelanguage of feeling, or spiritual sensations.

Seven sensations of the spirit manMark 7:34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Beopened.

1) To SighGreek stenazo

This word means to sigh, groan with a prayer

burden. It is a sensation in your spirit.

Mark 8:12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after asign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign begiven unto this generation.

Note: He sighed deeply IN HIS SPIRIT thisis a spirit sensation.

This sensation is usually accompanied bycompassion.

When you have a stenazo in your spirit it iseasy to pray.

Romans 8:23 And not only [they], but ourselvesalso, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, evenwe ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting forthe adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.

To Groan, this is the same word stenazo.

II Corinthians 5:4a For we that are in [this]tabernacle do groan, being burdened:

Groan being burdened. A prayer burden withfeeling, compassion.

Ezekiel 21:6 Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of [thy] loins; and withbitterness sigh before their eyes.

To sigh: have you ever noticed, that yousometimes find yourself sighing for no reason. This is an indication of stenazo in your spirit. You need to draw aside and pray.

You must learn to sense this spiritmanifestation and respond to it. The stenazois not the prayer, it is the urge to pray.

2) To GroanJohn 11:33 When Jesus therefore saw herweeping, and the Jews also weeping whichcame with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

Groaned in His SPIRIT. This is not the sameas Rom 8:23.

The Greek word is embrimaomai. Meaning,"To have an infusion of God's authority witha sense of indignation".

We need to have an understanding ofthe symbolic meaning of things inGod's Word. We need to bethoroughly versed in the Scriptures.

God wants to express His affections, desires, and feelings through you. Helongs for His heartbeat to becomeyour heartbeat.

We have to learn anew language of

heaven, which is fargreater than an earthly

language

Page 23: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

To Walk With God | 23

Language

It is a sensation of an inward groan coupledwith a sensation of indignation. A mix ofauthority and anger.

3) To be Troubled in SpiritThe Greek word tarasso. Meaning: Tostir, agitate.

John 13:21 When Jesus had thus said, he wastroubled in spirit, and testified, and said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betrayme”.

This is a spirit sensation, which gives the sensethat "something is wrong".

This often occurs ahead of time, giving youtime to pray. It operates like an early warningsystem.

This is a very important sensation for you tolearn, it can save you a lot of trouble.

Some things which the enemy is seeking to do inyour life or the lives of others, can be avoided, ifyou respond properly to the "tarasso" in your spirit.

It is too late to close the door after the horsehas bolted.

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that hemay sift [you] as wheat”.

Luke 22:32 “But I have prayed for thee, that thyfaith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”.

4) Provoked in SpiritGreek word: paroxuno.

Meaning: A zeal to act. It is a sensation thatmakes you keen, sharp, and zealous to dosomething.

Acts 17:16 Now while Paul waited for them atAthens, his spirit was stirred in him, when hesaw the city wholly given to idolatry. His SPIRITwas stirred in him. A spirit sensation.

5) Pressed in SpiritGreek word: sunecho: Meaning. Tobecome one with, pressed together.

Acts 18:5 And when Silas and Timotheus werecome from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in thespirit, and testified to the Jews [that] Jesus [was]Christ.

Pressed in SPIRIT. A spirit sensation.

It is a sensation feeling of becoming one withthe Lord. To become consciously one with theHoly Spirit. To be pressed into the Lord.

This is a very powerful manifestation of theHoly Spirit in your spirit.

II Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christconstraineth us; because we thus judge, that if onedied for all, then were all dead:

Constraineth Gk Sunecho. The love of Godsunechoed him.

Note: Acts 20:22 Andnow, behold, I go boundin the spirit untoJerusalem, not knowingthe things that shallbefall me there:

Acts 20:23 Save that theHoly Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying thatbonds and afflictions abide me.

The word "bound" in verse 22 is the wordsunecho.Paul had no fear he was lifted in Spirit toanother realm taken over, bound as one withthe Holy Spirit.

This is a very difficult Greek word totranslate into English. The best thetranslators could come up with wasGROAN, but the Greek word hasmuch more meaning.

These sensations arespirit sensations. Wemust learn what theymean

Jesus moved on the tarasso in Hisspirit praying for Peter ahead of time.

When that happens, you have a senseof the love of God for you to such adegree that you become invincible. You lose all sense of failure andanything is possible.

Page 24: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

24 | To Walk With God

Language

Martyrs have testified to this manifestation ofthe Holy Spirit in their spirit. It produces atremendous boldness linked with a feeling ofgreat security.

6) JoyThe Greek word kharah. Means a calmdelight

This is a spirit sensation that spills over intothe emotions.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is notmeat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

This is not, dependant on circumstances likehappiness. This is a spirit sensation.

Under adverse circumstances, it can bring greatstrength.

Nehemiah 8:10 The joy of the LORD is yourstrength.

7) The Witness of The SpiritThe word witness is the Greek wordsummartureo. Meaning. To corroborate, bear witness.

This operates as a check or an affirmation.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witnesswith our spirit, that we are the children of God:

It is a feeling that a thing is either right orwrong. A green light or a red light.

It is a feeling, a sensation in your spirit.

All outward spiritual manifestations must bechecked by this function in your spirit.

All angelic visitations, external visions, or spiritmanifestations must be monitored by thisoperation of the Holy Spirit in your spirit.

If you are going to develop a walk with theLord, you must learn these various sensationsof your spirit man, and you must learn torespond adequately.

Keeping Your Emotions in CheckYour life is governed by your will, the choices

you make. It is important to realise that yourwill must govern your emotions.

(See - Stream of emotions Diagram on page23)

Emotions are powerful and can control yourlife. They must be subject to your will, whichin turn is subject to God.

Maintain a correct emotional state. Those who live in a high emotional state willfind it very hard to discern God in theiremotions. A high emotional state will cloudthe movements of God in your emotions.

Low emotional states are just as bad.Depression, despondency likewise will cloudyour spiritual perception.

Never make choices or decide a course of actionwhen you are in these emotional states. Strongemotion will influence your thinkingadversely.

Learn to Become StillPsalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I [am]God:

Be still and know: The environment of thenineties does not lend itself to becoming still.

Being still, does not denote inactivity, it is astate of rest in alertness and focus.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest tothe people of God.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter intothat rest,

Deal with turmoil in your life, slow down, become still in your emotions and then youwill begin to discern God's emotions flowingthrough you.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANTSENSATION FOR YOU TO LEARN.

Walking in the spiritrequires that weunderstand the

movements of the HolySpirit in our spirit

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the lastdays, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit uponall flesh: and your sons and your daughters shallprophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Dreams and Visions are an integral part ofGod's communication with man.

The capacity to see on a spiritual level canbeen seen as a major way God relates to man.

With the eyes of the heart. Then why doesPaul say this a few verses later.

II Corinthians 5:7 (Forwe walk by faith, not bysight:)

The word sight here isthe Greek word Iedos;Means, The externalappearance of things.

VisualisationYou cannot thinkwithout visualising. Ifyou think visualisationis a New Age occultpractice, then youmust include yourselfwith the new age. Youall practicevisualisation.

Christians are so quick to label things NewAge. New Ager’s pray for the sick, theyprophesy, they believe in Angels.

They counterfeit the real thing. Rememberyou can only counterfeit that which is real.

Every human being is made in the Image andlikeness of God.

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all ofyou [are] children of the most High.

John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not writtenin your law, I said, Ye are gods?

All humans have creative ability, we have theability to bring things into being, existence.

The New Age people work with creativeprinciples but they also work with the wrongspirit.

We as Christians work with the Holy Spirit.Calling things that are not as though they are.

Romans 4:17 (As it is written, I have made theea father of many nations,) before him whom hebelieved, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as thoughthey were.

Looking Unto JesusWe have heard it said, "visualising Jesus is notscriptural" This is often said quoting Ex 20:4.

Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee anygraven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that[is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earthbeneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:

It is said to visualise Jesus is creating an imageof Him and is therefore unscriptural.

However the next verse says this:Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself tothem, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God[am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of thefathers upon the children unto the third and fourth[generation] of them that hate me;

The key word here is "I am a jealous God.These Scriptures are just simply saying, youare not to worship any other god but me.

The Word of God says "Jesus is the image (Gkicon) of the invisible God Col 1:3.

Jesus was the visible Image icon of God.This word icon is the same word used for idolsin Mat 22:10 and Rev 13:5.

Thou shalt have no other idols only me.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author andfinisher of [our] faith; Gk: To look attentively tosee.

Our approach to Jesus has to be with faith:Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossibleto please [him]: for he that cometh to God mustbelieve that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder ofthem that diligently seek him.

As you set your imagination upon Jesus withfocus and worship, you will open up yourspirit to see and you will enter His realm, thatof spirit.

The word Mind here is the Hebrew Wordyetser. Hb word for imagination "to frame athing in the mind". Like a picture. This wordcomes from a Hebrew root word yatsar, Whichhas the meaning to " Mould a thing into aform as a potter would a pot".

Same word in Psalm 104:14 He knoweth ourframe yetser. Our physical image.

Spontaneous Vision

1) Superimposed

This happens when you are notfocusing on the Lord, it simply cutsacross your thoughts and superimposesitself on the screen of your mind. Godmay give a vision of the face of a friendor relative, and you just know you haveto pray for them. The picture is lightand gentle.

2) While in Prayer

Spontaneous vision can occur while youare praying. This is identical to theabove, but is received while you areseeking God in prayer. These visionsjust appear.

The Hebrew word for Intercession is Paga, andone of the meanings of this word means "to lightupon".

Genesis 28:10 AndJacob went out fromBeer-sheba, and wenttoward Haran.Genesis 28:11 And helighted upon a certainplace, and tarried thereall night, because the sunwas set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put [them for] his pillows, and lay down inthat place to sleep. The word "lighted is theHebrew word Paga.

External VisionsOn this level the person actually sees a visionoutside of himself. It may take the form of aprojection like manifestation on a wall; it mayjust be outside the person. These visions canbe interactive.

II Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said,LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he maysee. And the LORD opened the eyes of the youngman; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain[was] full of horses and chariots of fire round aboutElisha.

This can also occur while in a trance Acts10:10-23

One Screen Three Projectors

1) Your Self Projector. That which comesfrom your own heart/mind.

2) Satanic Projector. That which comesfrom evil spirits.

3) The Holy Spirit Projector. Comes fromGod.

Testing Where the Image Comes FromI John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, buttry the spirits whether they are of God: because

What you focus on youwill connect with

When we are told to keep our mindon the Lord, it literally means to framean image of Him in your imagination.

To light upon by chance: This canoccur in vision form. It is aspontaneous flow of a picture, orpictures onto the screen of the mind.

many false prophets are gone out into the world. What you focus on youwill connect with

If we removed every passage ofScripture relating to God speaking toHis people in dreams, we would haveto remove almost one third of theBible. There are hundreds of examplesin Scripture of God using the mediumof dreams to speak to His people.

DreamsDreams are very muchlike visions thedifference is you havethem when you areasleep. The samesafeguards apply todreams as apply tovisions.

The Value of God speaking to you in a dreamGod can speak to you with the minimum ofinterference from your Mind. Your mind isnot active in this process.

The downside to this is, most of our dreamsdo not come from God.

Where do dreams come from?

1) Your Own Subconscious Mind

Ecclesiastes 5:3 For a dream cometh through themultitude of business; and a fool's voice [is known]

by multitude of words.

Ecclesiastes 5:7 For in the multitude of dreamsand many words [there are] also [divers] vanities:but fear thou God.

Many dreams arise out of the business of ourmind. Psychologists tell us that we dreamevery night, but we only remember very fewof them.

2) Dreams can arise out of bodily needs

Isaiah 29:8 It shall even be as when an hungry[man] dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but heawaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when athirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh;but he awaketh, and, behold, [he is] faint, andhis soul hath appetite:

Its a bit like the man who went to bed hungry, and dreamed he was eating a giantmarshmallow. When he awoke he had hispillow in his mouth!

3) Dreams can come from evil spirits

Jeremiah 23:32 Behold, I [am] against them thatprophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and dotell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, norcommanded them: therefore they shall not profitthis people at all, saith the LORD.

Zechariah 10:2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have toldfalse dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore theywent their way as a flock, they were troubled, because [there was] no shepherd.

4) Dreams can come from God

God speaks to us in dreams. This is one of theways God communicates with us.

Angels are often the carriers of dreams to us

Matthew 2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dreamto Joseph in Egypt,

Interpretation of DreamsOften dreams need an interpretation.

Joseph dreamed of seven thin cows that ateup seven fat cows.He dreamed of sheaves of wheat bowing downto him Gen 41 & 37.

Interpretation was needed to understand thesedreams.

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven thatrevealeth secrets, and maketh known to the kingNebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thybed, are these;

We need to know and understand symbolismin Scripture in order to understand manydreams that God gives us.

We have three projectorsthrowing images ontoone screen

First we need to look at the subject of heartpurity in connection with knowing the Lord.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart: forthey shall see God.

Proverbs 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart,[for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] hisfriend.

The King Shall be His FriendThere were only two people in the Bible whowere actually called a friend of God.

One was Moses The other was AbrahamJames 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled whichsaith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputedunto him for righteousness: and he was called theFriend of God.

Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Mosesface to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servantJoshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departednot out of the tabernacle.

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants;for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth:but I have called you friends; for all things that Ihave heard of my Father I have made known untoyou.

Heart Purity has to do primarily with ourmotives: Why we do the things we do.

John 1:47 Jesus sawNathanael coming tohim, and saith of him,Behold an Israeliteindeed, in whom is noguile!

Revelation 14:5 And intheir mouth was found no guile: for they arewithout fault before the throne of God.

The Word Guile Gk Lit A bait for fish.Entrapment. To have another agenda. Deceitful.

The pure in heart shall see God.

The Voice of GodNumbers 24:16 He hath said, which heard thewords of God, and knew the knowledge of themost High, [which] saw the vision of the Almighty, falling [into a trance], but having his eyes open:

This Scripture highlights two of many waysthat God uses to speak to His people.

He heard the words of God and saw visions.

Rhema and VisionRhema is one of theGreek words used forthe English word,"word". It means thespoken word of God.This is contrastedagainst the Logos, Thewritten word of God

God can speak with words to us in many ways.

1) Audibly2) Inwardly3) Through Angels4) In dreams etc.

Firstly we are going to study how God speaksto us in our heart

The Voice of God

These two Scriptures clearly indicate arelationship between heart purity andknowing God.

There is a difference in relationshipbetween a servant and a friend.

To be without guile is a great virtue:Highly prized by God.

Heart purity andhearing go together

No other question bothers WesternChristians more than: How do Idiscern God's voice in my heart?

The Inner VoiceThe inner voice of the Lord is sensed asspontaneous thought.

Study of God's wordrequires revelation, ieheart perception andintellectual analysis.

Voices from the spiritworld; spontaneousthoughts

We must realise that all thoughts are not ourthoughts.

II Corinthians 10:5 Casting downimaginations, and every high thing that exaltethitself against the knowledge of God, and bringinginto captivity every thought to the obedience ofChrist; We must realise that a lot of ourthoughts are Not Our Thoughts.

This is a veryimportant reality; Youare being spoken tofrom the spirit realm. You might think this isvery spooky.

God communicates toour spirit then to the mind.

Spontaneity, The Voice of the Spirit WorldDefining Spontaneity: Acting on it's ownimpulse. UN-Premeditated unrehearsed(Chambers Dictionary).

Every time you have a spontaneous thought aflow of ideas, it comes from the spirit world.

When we speak ofs p o n t a n e o u scombustion; we aretalking about a fire wedid not start.

How do youdifferentiate?

Thoughts which come from youThoughts which come from SatanThoughts which come from God

1) Thoughts from you are premeditated

and deliberate. They are your ownthoughts. They have a special feel thatbrings a special reaction. Excitement, faith, peace, joy.

2) Thoughts, which come from Satan, have several characteristics

a. They have a wrong feel. (Witnessof the spirit)

b. They build ego in you, insteadof humility

c. They often do not line up withthe bible

You have to discern the feel that comes withspirit communication

This spontaneous flow of God's thoughts inyou does not sound like some deep voice ofGod. They sound like your thoughts.

They can come easily gently as God speakingin the first person. They are light and gentle never demanding. They will produce that special reaction in you.Faith excitement and a love for God.They will never contradict God's word.

Satan bombards your mind and emotions.God knocks on the door of your heart andwaits for a response Rev 3:20. Fellowshipcannot be forced.

Learn to stay with the flowSpontaneous thought is easily cut off byexertion of self. (Your own thoughts and willetc).

All spontaneous thought must be subject tothe witness of the Spirit in you.

Responding to God's CallRevelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, andknock: if any man hear my voice, and open thedoor, I will come in to him, and will sup with

Spontaneous thought isthe voice of the spirit

Thoughts of the mind are analytical.Thoughts of the heart arespontaneous.

Evil spirits communicate to usthrough our thought life.

Spontaneous thoughts are thoughtsyou did not start they were UN-premeditated.

God's thoughts are like your ownthoughts.

If you draw aside, worship, wait, be still, fixyour imagination upon Jesus and just loveHim, spontaneity will flow without anyexertion on your part.

Co-operating With DestinyLearning to walk with God in your destiny

As well as this: The provision needed to fulfilthis destiny was seeded in the heavenlies, readyfor you to appropriate.

II Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called[us] with an holy calling, not according to ourworks, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the worldbegan,Ephesians 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Fatherof our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us withall spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] inChrist:

Everything you need to fulfil your destiny hasalready been set aside for you.

You will come alive whenever that destinysurfaces.

Sometimes you are just talking with someoneand you come alive. That is because you havetouched in conversation on your destiny, theprogramming in your spirit.

Learning to come to know that destiny andcooperate with it is an aspect of learning towalk with God.

We have looked at the importance of relatingto God through knowing His voice in yourheart in spontaneous thought.

We have looked at relating to God withvisionary ability, the eyes of the heart.

Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understandingbeing enlightened; that ye may know what is thehope of his calling, and what the riches of theglory of his inheritance in the saints,

And there are many incidents in Scripturewhere God spoke with an audible voice orthrough Angels audibly. We will deal with thisin another session.

Today we are going to look at an importantway that God works with us in helping usfulfil and know our destiny we call thisprovidential guidance.

Providential GuidanceDefinition: Providential. Divine foresight withIntervention. (Oxford Dict)

Question: Is God incontrol of everything. The answer to this isyes and no.

God is in control ofyour life if you allowHim to be. God willnot override your gift of free will.

PredestinationDefinition: God’s appointment from eternity. To determine beforehand. (Oxford Dict)

Greek: proorizo Predetermine. Mark out aboundary.

Romans 8:29 For whomhe did foreknow, he alsodid predestinate [to be]conformed to the imageof his Son, that he mightbe the firstborn among

Providential Guidance

When your spirit came from heaveneither at the point of conception orbirth, it came from heavenreprogrammed with your destiny, yourpurpose in life. Your purpose wasseeded with your purpose and plan.

This Scripture tells us that you weregiven a purpose before the worldbegan, ie back in eternity. You came toearth with an assignment to fulfil.

If you are going to walk with God, youwill need to understand and recogniseprovidential guidance.

You were born with

a destiny in your

spirit

When your life is dedicated to theLord and your will is set to do the willof God, then providential Guidancebecomes operative.

Page 38: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

many brethren.

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he didpredestinate, them he also called: and whom hecalled, them he also justified: and whom hejustified, them he also glorified.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtainedan inheritance, being predestinated according tothe purpose of him who worketh all things afterthe counsel of his own will:

God is able to see thebeginning from theend. He knows thechoices we will makethroughout our life;He knows this inadvance.

Because of this foreknowledge He can map outa course for us that is part of the purpose givenus before the world began.

Because of our commitment to do His will,God will cause events, appointments, andboundaries, to come into play in our livessovereignly without our manipulation.

Much of God’s guidingintervention in ourlives involvesprovidential guidance, therefore we mustlearn to recognise it andwork with it.

Your life’s course was planned out for youbefore you were born. It was seeded in yourspirit.

II Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called[us] with an holy calling, not according to ourworks, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the worldbegan,

Providential guidance begins before you areborn again and continues on after. Howeveronce you are born again you becomeresponsible to work with godly principles thatwill facilitate, bring to the fore that which Godhas for you.

One of the best examples of this is found inthe story of Ruth.

Ruth was a Moabite with no inheritance withinGod’s dealings with Israel, however shebecame the great grandmother of David anda direct descendant in the line of Christ

The chances of Ruth a Moabite being acceptedin Israel was very slim let alone marrying aNoble in the land and rising to a place ofprominence in the History of Israel.

How did this come about?

1) Commitment

Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Entreat me notto leave thee, [or] to return from followingafter thee: for whither thou goest, I willgo; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge:thy people [shall be] my people, and thyGod my God:

This choice would determine the rest of herlife. It was a watershed choice

Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge (consult)him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The seeds of destiny arein your spirit

The key to understandingpredestination is the word, foreknow.

We call this divine intervention,Providential Guidance.

NOTE: There is no record in the bookof Ruth of God speaking directly tothe people involved in this story.Providential guidance is the only formof guidance portrayed in this book.

When Ruth left Moab she made acommitment that would start a seriesof providential events in her life. These events would steer her onto apathway leading to her destiny.

This unreserved commitment to Godis a pre-requisite for any form ofguidance from God in our lives.

Page 39: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Proverbs 23:26 My son, give me thine heart,(THEN) and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren,by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodiesa living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,[which is] your reasonable service.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to thisworld: but be ye transformed by the renewing ofyour mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

These Scriptures show us the tremendousimportance of a commitment to God.

Ruth made this commitment and it triggereda series of providential interventions in her lifethat would cause her destiny in God to beginto unfold.

2) God’s Response

Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thywork, and a full reward be given thee ofthe LORD God of Israel, under whosewings thou art come to trust.

Ruth put herself into the hands of God. Godresponded by saying, “you will be rewardedfor this”.

Rewards don’t just come on a happenstancebasisPsalms 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servantwarned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] greatreward.

Mark 9:41 For whosoever shall give you a cup ofwater to drink in my name, because ye belong toChrist, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose hisreward.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossibleto please [him]: for he that cometh to God mustbelieve that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of

them that diligently seek him.

Ruth did not immediately see the fulfilmentof God’s promised blessing. Things got roughfor her for a while, however, she maintainedher stance in God. There was still no consciousevidence that God was guiding her.

3) The Pathway of Duty

Ruth 2:2 And Ruth the Moabitess saidunto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after [him] in whosesight I shall find grace. And she said untoher, Go, my daughter.

In the pathway of duty, normal everydayresponsibilities, God began to arrange thingsfor her. We must not wait passively for God todrop things into our lap. We must put ourheart and soul into doing that, which is athand. Ruth was industrious.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth todo, do [it] with thy might;

Ecclesiastes 10:18 Bymuch slothfulness thebuilding decayeth; andthrough idleness of thehands the house droppeththrough.

Faithfulness is a veryimportant attribute and is necessary if you areto move on into your destiny.

I Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord,who hath enabled me, for that he counted mefaithful, putting me into the ministry;

Be Faithful in where you are NOW.

Genesis 24:27 And he said, Blessed [be] theLORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my masterof his mercy and his truth: I [being] in the way,the LORD led me to the house of my master’sbrethren.

I being “in the way” The Lord led me. Hbderek. To walk a pathway.

Abram’s servant was looking for a wife for Isaac.

The set of your heart will determinethe course of your life.

Your commitment toGod, the set of yourheart determines yourcourse

When there is no conscious guidancejust go on with your life trusting Godand being available to Him. Above allbeing faithful to God and people.

He came to a well to water his camels andGod had arranged for the right people to bethere at the right time. Rebecca just happenedto be at the well at that time.

The chances of that happening are over amillion to one.

Coincidence Luck Chance? NO Providentialguidance.

4) Recognition

Ruth 2:5 Then said Boazunto his servant that wasset over the reapers,Whose damsel [is] this?

Things were nowbeginning to cometogether for her.

5) Destiny Realised

Ruth 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and shewas his wife: and when he went in untoher, the LORD gave her conception, andshe bare a son.

Ruth 4:16 And Naomi took the child, andlaid it in her bosom, and became nurseunto it.

Ruth 4:17 And the women her neighboursgave it a name, saying, There is a son bornto Naomi; and they called his name Obed:he [is] the father of Jesse, the father ofDavid.

When these divine encounter’s happen youmust recognise them. There is a special feelwhen you realise these sovereign divineappointments are happening. There is a sensethat these are God’s appointments fro you.

You must then cooperate with thecircumstances.

Faithfullness is anabsolute if providentialgiudance is to continue

in your life

Boaz began to recognise her. God hadarranged that Ruth would be in theright field at the right time. Boaznoticed her, It happened when she wasin the normal pathway of duty.

Matthew 16:3 And in the morning, [It will be]foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring.O [ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of thesky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times? It Includes: Words, Feelings, Pictures (vision), Music, etc.

God also uses physical signs to communicatewith us.

It is God’s intention that: Spirit, Soul, andBody, should know the Lord.

Full salvation is progressive. Our Spirits are regeneratedOur Souls are being savedOur Bodies are a new frontier for the H/S towork through

I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peacesanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your wholespirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessunto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God says our body is for the LordI Corinthians 6:13b (paraphrased) Now the body[is] for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that yourbody is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] inyou, which ye have of God, and ye are not yourown?

The Lord can, and does, interact with ourbody.

Philippians 1:20 According to my earnestexpectation and [my] hope, that in nothing I shallbe ashamed, but [that] with all boldness, asalways, [so] now also Christ shall be magnifiedin my body, whether [it be] by life, or by death.

Magnified in our Bodies: That is interactionRomans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raisedup Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raisedup Christ from the dead shall also quicken yourmortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Quicken your body:Gk Give life: Godinteracting with ourbody.

The Holy Spirit canmake your bodysensitive to God.

When this occurs you will begin to feelphysical promptings of the Lord.

Signs have occurred in every past move of God

The Early Methodists: Saw scoffers who shookso badly, some of them broke their necks anddied

The Early Pentecostals: Saw people slain inthe spirit and healed, delivered, and set freefrom many bondages.

The Quakers: Did not believe the Holy Spiritwas moving on them unless they trembled.

Three Types of Signs

1) Symptomatic Signs

These are signs of direct attack againstyou

2) Sympathetic signs

These are signs you feel for other people

3) Symbolic Signs

These are signs with strict spiritualmeaning.

The bible talks about us tasting of the powerof the world to come.

God’s Sign Language

We have seen that the language of thespirit God’s realm is far moresophisticated and extensive than ourhuman language.

God uses physicalfeeling to communcatewith us

God will seek at times to communicatewith us through our physical bodies inthe form of physical feelings thatconstitute signs. Our bodies shouldbecome alert to the Lord.

Page 42: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word ofGod, and the powers of the world to come,

This is power of the spirit realm, whichconnects us to that realm.

Rom 8:11 says in ourbodies. That powerconnects your bodywith the spirit realm

You must keep them inperspective, use them, honour them, but

don’t make them what they are not.

Examples: We know that gifts of healing, oftenoperates through our hands.

Kenneth Hagan “in his book” Discerning ofSpirits. States.

The Lord came to him and told him to putout his hands. When he did the Lord touchedhis hands and fire went through his hands Thenthe Lord said to him, “I will give you two signs”If the fire passeth from one hand to the other, you are dealing with a demonic spirit if thefire does not pass from hand to hand you aredealing purely with a physical ailment.

William Branham: Who had a remarkable giftof healing. His hands would literally swellwhen the gift was operating, and he could veryaccurately discern the kind of disease theperson was suffering from by the sensationsin his hand.

John G Lake: Had a remarkable healing anddeliverance ministry at the turn of the century. He could take hold of persons wrist and knowwhat they were suffering from. He ledthousands to the Lord and founded hundredsof churches.

God still uses signs today to communicate withus. A Word of Caution:

1) Don’t go looking for signs. Justrecognise them when they happen.

2) Realise that physical signs may just bethat, Physical, and come from aproblem with your body, ie sickness.

3) A physical manifestation may be justnatural or have its origin in the spiritrealm.

This is a very subjective subject, and thisteaching can be misused.

When I first taught this some 12 years agomany people were not ready to receive it. Somewill never be ready to receive it.

Extra biblical and UnbiblicalThere are many things we teach that are extrabiblical but are not unbiblical.

For example when we teach on how to movein the gifts of the spirit, we are teaching at an“Extra Biblical” level. Because the bible doesnot tell us, HOW to move in these gifts. Welearn that from experience and direct teachingof the Holy Spirit. However this is notUNBIBLICAL. It does not contraveneScripture.

When we are told to have faith the bible doesnot teach us how that feels, how we sense faith. We have to learn this.

I am teaching on a practical level fromexperience.

Let’s look at some of the more common signsand their meaning.

In The Head:The head is susceptible to the anointing andto oppression.

These signs are to be used as tools tohelp us communicate with God.

I am teaching from what I havelearned from experience and bydialoguing with other ministries thatknow how to move in the spirit.

Much of what I will teach on thissubject will be extra biblical but notunbiblical.

God uses signs tocomunicate with us.

These are tools to helpus to walk with Him

Ps 23 Thou anointest my head with oil.

These signs in the head take the form ofPressure, pain, heat, etc.

You may experience a hard band across theforehead or sharp jabs in the temple or aheadache.

The entire back of the head is associated withthe emotions. Feelings desires affectionsjealousy anger etc see Song Sol 2:6

When a person is aligned against you say withjealousy, that strong negative emotion providesa channel for a demonic spirit to flow in andoppress you. You may feel this as pressure onthe back of the head. Psychic prayer can alsocause this affect.

This is a Symptomatic Sign

You Must cut it off in the Name of Jesusbinding that spirit which is attacking you.

The forehead: This is the area of your focus. The centre of your forehead is you focusperception area. A strong pressure pain hereindicates that your focus perception is beinghit.

Or if your spirit is very low this also can occur

Remember the Holy Spirit is Light, theDemonic is hard.

If you experience a gentle pressure across yourforehead. Be alert to receive revelation. This isan anointing. A Symbolic Sign.

Sensations across the hair-line.When it is light and gentle this anointing isjoining your conscious mind with the HolySpirit.

The Temple: Light pressure an anointing for

teaching or to teach. These are Symbolic Signs

A Jabbing sensation; The enemy is trying toget through to you. Be careful with youremotions and thinking. Often s spirit ofunbelief approaches you this way. Then thepressure lifts but the spirit remains. This is aSymptomatic sign

A Light band around the head:This is a sign of an intercessor and also a signof an anointing for intercession. This is aSymbolic sign.

The cheek bone area:This is a sign of an attack of an orchestratedattack of the enemy. A Symptomatic sign.

All of these signs have scriptural basis ie.

Job 16:10 They have gaped upon me with theirmouth; they have smitten me upon the cheekreproachfully; they have gathered themselvestogether against me. See Also Mica 5:1

When your are praying for a person and youfeel this sensation across your cheek-bone, youknow this person is under attack.

The Nose:The nose in Scripture is symbolic ofdiscernment.

Isaiah 11:3 And shallmake him of quickunderstanding (HbScent) in the fear of theLORD: and he shall notjudge after the sight of hiseyes, neither reprove afterthe hearing of his ears:

The Ears:Lev17:14 Speaks about the anointing on theears.2Tim 4:3 Speaks about itching ears

Sharp Pain indicates a lying spirit. Sometimes,on the bone behind the ear.

Be warned you may be under attack from thisspirit or it may been an advance warning ofan impending attack.

Sign’s are an intregralmeans of Godscommunication withus, however don’t getcarried away withthis. Keep it in balance

Remember the Holy Spirit is gentle.Demons are hard and aggressive.

Discerning of spirits often works thisway. You have pressure across yournose. What do you feel. JealousyAnger etc.

Don’t become superstitious every feeling is notfrom God.

Prophecy

To Walk With God | 45

I Corinthians 12:10 To another the working ofmiracles; to another prophecy; to anotherdiscerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds oftongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

I am assuming that you understand the use ofthe gift of prophecy.

God uses this kind of communication at timesto speak to His people.

This form of communication from God canbe very powerful. It can be very accurate anddetailed.

HOWEVER it is not the predominant waythat God speaks to us.

But it is a valid way, which God uses tocommunicate with us.

At times God will speak to you thr ough aprophetic word given in a church service, theremay be 300 people present but it is for you.At other times it may be for everyone there.

Familiarity breeds contemptI Thessalonians 5:20 Despise not prophesyings. Why did Paul say this? He was aware of themisuse and overuse of this gift, which hadbrought the people to despise it.

Amos 8:12 And they shall wander from sea tosea, and from the north even to the east, they shallrun to and fro to seek the word of the LORD,and shall not find [it].

Amos the prophet had prophesied the wordof the Lord many times to Israel but they hadnot taken it seriously and processed it in theirlives. The result was that God stoppedspeaking to them in this way.

Prophetic Over-SaturationAnd you still run here and there for moreprophetic words.

Don’t go looking forprophetic words.

God will speak to youthis way when Hechooses. When thathappens it will bepowerful and edifying.

Test it, it may not be GodI Thessalonians 5:20 Despise not prophesyings.5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which isgood.

All prophetic words must be judged1) Is it scriptural in

principle?2) Is it conditional.

If so note theconditions.

3) Does it bearwitness withyour spirit?

4) Note the spiritof the prophecy. Does it condemn oredify.

When God speaks a true word of prophecyinto your life a change takes place in the spiritrealm.

Most Christians do not know and understandthis.

At least two things occur1) Provision for the fulfilment of the

prophecy is released.2) That word over you will be contested

by the devil.

What I am about toteach you now willcause you to take a trueword of prophecyseriously.

God’s Prophetic Voice

It has A place but not THE place inour lives.

This occurs when you have moreprophecies over your life than you canprocess.

I don’t know any prophets who get it100% right all of the time. Because ofthis we are told to test all prophecy.

A genuine propheticword over your life willcause you to be tried

The first factor requires a walk of faithfor its fulfilment. The second requires determinationand perseverance.

Prophecy

46 | To Walk With God

Psalms 105:19 Until the time that his word came:the word of the LORD tried him.

This verse of Scriptureclearly portrays theprinciple, that a trueword from God willbring trial into ourlives.

You must understandthis principle. If you don’t many of the truewords of God over your life may not come topass.

We see the commencement of this principleway back in the beginning of time in Eden.

After the fall of man a prophetic word wasgiven about the head of Satan being crushed.

This prophetic word would influence greatlythe course of history.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between theeand the woman, and between thy seed and herseed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruisehis heel.

That word generated fear in the heart ofLucifer.

It was a true word from God. This word saidthat from the seed (line) of this woman wouldcome a person (Jesus) that would crush thehead of the serpent Satan.

We will see that Satanwould contest thisprophecy by trying towipe out the line fromwhich Jesus wouldcome from.

Right in the beginningSatan set out to wipe out this godly line.

Cain and Abel were born. Satan watched themvery carefully, when he saw that Abel was therighteous son, he figured out very quickly thefact that the Royal Line would flow downthrough Abel.

Once this was determined Satan had Abel

murdered.

John 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, andthe lusts of your father ye will do. He was amurderer from the beginning,

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel hisbrother: and it came to pass, when they were inthe field, that Cain rose up against Abel hisbrother, and slew him.

Satan filled Cains heart with Jealousy and hadAbel murdered.

Gods then brought division. Two ways twostreams would develop in the Earth.

A godly line and an ungodly line.

Cain went out from the presence of the Lordand established his own ungodly society Gen4:16-24.

God then raised up Seth to replace Abel. Sethin Hebrew means substitute.

Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again;and she bare a son, and called his name Seth:For God, [said she], hath appointed me anotherseed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there wasborn a son; and he called his name Enos: thenbegan men to call upon the name of the LORD.(This was a godly line)

Satan lost track of which family the line wasflowing through.

There was only one thing Satan could do, thatwas to corrupt the whole of the human race.

Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men beganto multiply on the face of the earth, and daughterswere born unto them,

Satan will contest your destiny andthe words spoken over you, that arepart of your destiny.

If we understand this, we willunderstand why certain events allthrough the Old Testament happenedthe way they did.

The Canaanitess multiplied quickerthan the Sethites, but the Sethiteswere the godly line from which Jesuswould come.

Page 47: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Prophecy

To Walk With God | 47

Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw thedaughters of men that they [were] fair; and theytook them wives of all which they chose.

This Term Sons of God In the Old Testamentrefers to Angels. See Job 1:6 on. TheSeptuagint renders Sons of God as “Angels”A race developed that was half-human andhalf-fallen Angel.

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shallnot always strive with man, for that he also [is]flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twentyyears.

Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth inthose days; and also after that, when the sons ofGod came in unto the daughters of men, andthey bare [children] to them, the same [became]mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.

This union produced a genetic change andgiants were born:Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness ofman [was] great in the earth, and [that] everyimagination of the thoughts of his heart [was]only evil continually.

Genesis 6:6 And it repented the LORD that hehad made man on the earth, and it grieved himat his heart.

Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroyman whom I have created from the face of theearth; both man, and beast, and the creepingthing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth methat I have made them.Satan knew that if wickedness increased to acertain level, God would have to destroy them. But Satan would loose again:

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes ofthe LORD.

The line was flowing through Noah he waspure and would repopulate the Earth after the

flood.

After the Tower of Babel man was scatteredacross the face of the Earth. It was imposiblefor Satan to identify which family the line wasflowing through.

Then God revealed where the line was:The line would flow down through Abrahamto Mary.

Genesis 12:2 And I willmake of thee a greatnation, and I will blessthee, and make thy namegreat; and thou shalt bea blessing:

Genesis 12:3 And I willbless them that bless thee, and curse him thatcurseth thee: and in thee shall all families of theearth be blessed.

This prophecy over Abraham, exposed himto Satan.

Satan moved in and afflicted Sarah his wifeand she was barren, she could not havechildren.

Eventually God healed Sarah and they had ason to carry on the line.

Isaac Marries Rebecca: Satan moved in andmade her barren. God heals here and shebecomes pregnant with twins.

Through one of these boys in her womb theline would flow.

Interesting: God had already chosen whichboy would carry this line See Rom 9:10-13.It would be through Jacob.

So Jacob had to be born first. He had to havethe first born rights.

Genesis 25:22 And the children struggledtogether within her; and she said, If [it be] so,why [am] I thus? And she went to inquire ofthe LORD.

The children were struggling over who wouldbe born first. And God said this:

Satan’s main missionwas to destroy the linefrom which the messiahwould come

We have a diabolical satanic plan herethat would have catastrophicconsequences.

This prophecy over Abraham causedgreat trial and conflict in his life.

Page 48: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Genesis 25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Twonations [are] in thy womb, and two manner ofpeople shall be separated from thy bowels; and[the one] people shall be stronger than [the other]people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

God new Satan would contest who would bethe first born, so God reversed the roles. Hechanged the rules and Satan was beaten again.

Genesis 25:24 And when her days to be deliveredwere fulfilled, behold, [there were] twins in herwomb.

Genesis 25:25 And the first came out red, allover like an hairy garment; and they called hisname Esau.

Genesis 25:26 And after that came his brotherout, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; andhis name was called Jacob: and Isaac [was]threescore years old when she bare them.

The conflict continued as they were beingborn.Jacob became the father of the Israelites.

The Next Crisis was with Jacob. FamineJoseph one of Jacobs’s sons would be used toavert this crisis.

God had given Josepha prophetic word.Satan tries to murderhim but one of thebrothers intervenes andhe is sold as a slave.

Psalms 105:19 Untilthe time that his word came: the word of theLORD tried him.

The Next Crisis comes in EgyptThe whole family of Jacob the whole godlyline come to Egypt and settled in Goshen.Seventy people in all

Exodus 1:22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast intothe river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Moses escapes and eventually over two Millionpeople leave Egypt. The line is lost among thisgreat throng of people and families.

Time Passes then God reveals where the lineis.

Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart fromJudah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, untilShiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gatheringof the people [be].

This prophetic word reveals where the line willflow. The Sceptre speaks of KingshipShiloh refers to the MessiahGathering to him; Jesus

Through the kings of JudahDavid was God’s choice as a King. Theattempts on his life were numerous. After hedied the kings of Judah were methodicallykilled off, by the time we get to 2 Chron 22:10-12 the whole line of Kings is destroyed exceptone young child.

II Chronicles 22:11 But Jehoshabeath, thedaughter of the king, took Joash the son ofAhaziah, and stole him from among the king’ssons that were slain, and put him and his nursein a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughterof king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest,(for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him fromAthaliah, so that she slew him not.

He was hidden in the temple for six years.

The Next Crisis was in Esther’s time

Finally After 4000 Years Jesus is born

Satan had desperately tried to stop that

Jacob and his line were in graveDanger of dying through starvation. This would effectively wipe out theline.

Satan now tries to wipe out all themale children, thus bringing the lineto an end.

Satan tried to wipe out the wholeNation. But God has Esther in aposition of influence to avert this.

prophecy coming to pass.

Mat 1 Records the genealogies From Abrahamto Mary and Jesus is born. The seed of thewoman is alive on the Earth.

Satan would try one last desperate ploy to stopit;Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw thathe was mocked of the wise men, was exceedingwroth, and sent forth, and slew all the childrenthat were in Beth-lehem, and in all the coaststhereof, from two years old and under, accordingto the time which he had diligently enquired ofthe wise men.

Satan lost this battle also.

Finally Jesus cried “it is finished”The head of the serpent is crushed.

The Prophecy came in Eden and the conflictbegan.

As each received a clear true prophecy overthem it was contested.

Now what about those prophetic words overyour life?

The prophetic currency has been greatlydevalued by a casual familiarity to prophesy. When God speaks we must listen and take itseriously> There will be a battle over it

We will be tried. The word of the Lord willcause you to be tried.

God does use the gift of prophecy to speak tous. It is a beautiful holy interaction of Godwith us, and must not be taken lightly.

We become responsible to followthrough in faith and persistence.

Meditation

To Walk With God | 51

Today we are going to study a very importantaspect of walking with God, that art ofMeditation.

Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I [am]God:

BE STILL AND KNOWWe live our lives in such turmoil and busyness, which causes us to live in a constant state ofinner tension. This isolates us from God andkeeps us imprisoned in the temporal, lockingus out of the celestial realms of God.

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, andthe meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thysight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psalms 104:34 My meditation of him shall besweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Psalms 119:99 I have more understanding thanall my teachers: for thy testimonies [are] mymeditation.

Certain conditions need to be in place if weare to enter into the state of meditationBecoming still can be very difficult and requiressome discipline on our part.

Jesus recognised this problemMark 6:31 And he said unto them, “Come yeyourselves apart into a desert place, and rest awhile:” for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

Paul also recognised thisHebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest tothe people of God.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter intothat rest, lest any man fall after the same exampleof unbelief.

Meditation DefinitionBoth in the Greek and the Hebrew themeaning is similar. To Muse, To Think, ToMurmur, To Imagine.

1) Meditation requires stillness

This is necessary on two frontsA. Outside noiseB. Inside noise

Outside noiseYou must eliminate all external distractions.Phones, children, anything that will distractyou.

Inside noiseIt can be very noisy on the inside. It seemslike thoughts have a life of their own.

First control the spiritual environmentDon’t get into conflict with the devil. This isnot a time for warfare its a time of waiting, meditating.

Deal with thoughts ofcondemnation or sinconsciousness.

If you have sinned, confess it and receiveforgiveness. If it iscondemnation, reject itand cast it away from you.

Meditation

Learning to wait on God in meditationis a secret to moving on to higherlevels or plains of relationship withHim. Meditation, Contemplation willtake you in to God’s realm, where youwill ascend into a dimension in Godthat leaves behind mundaneChristianity, and seats you with Godin heavenly places.

Becoming still, can be difficult. Wehave to learn to quieten our innerbeing. The voices and thoughts withinthat are demanding our attentionmust be quietened.

Learning the art ofmeditation willchange your life

Deal with your wandering mindThis will be the greatest problem youface in becoming still, it will take timeto be able to still your mind Controlthis.

Page 52: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

Meditation

52 | To Walk With God

Conviction comes from the Holy Spiritcondemnation is from the devil. You have toconstantly refocus your mind. The mind canonly focus on one thought at a time. Changeyour thought (focus). Set the eyes of yourheart upon Jesus.

When thoughts arise out of the things youhave to do, write them down and dismissthem for now.

Your mind willeventually run out ofreminding you ofthings you have to do.

You have to work at itover a period of time. But the rewards are

very great. You must persevere.

Physical stillnessYou have to deal with physical tension. Yourbody can be a distraction. Aches pains bodilydiscomfort, can be a very real distraction.

There are certain times of the day that arequieter than other times.Late at night, or early morning etc.

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a greatwhile before day, he went out, and departed intoa solitary place, and there prayed.

The use of music to help still youII Kings 3:15 But now bring me a minstrel. Andit came to pass, when the minstrel played, thatthe hand of the LORD came upon him.

Music can be a help to quieten your innerbeing. However you need to be discerning asto the kind of music you play. Any music witha strong beat, or rhythm will have the oppositeeffect of stilling your inner man. It must beslow and very worshipful. It must be gentle, quiet, slow.

If the music is accompanied by words yourmind will lock onto the words and the voiceof the person who is singing. This is not agood idea.

If the music has no one singing but you knowthe words to the song this can be OK for the

first stages of becoming quiet. You can singalong to the music but it must be worshipfulquiet and slow. However this must eventuallygive way to quiet and stillness.

Your EmotionsAs you begin to focus on the Lord channelyour emotions in a flow of love to the Lord.Just love the Lord. Be in His presence, Ifspontaneity flows listen to it then meditateon it. Wait, be still, and listen, Love.

Brain wave activitySome of the research being done in sleeplaboratories is interesting as it relates to ourbeing quiet within ourselves and becomingstill.

What has been discovered is that:When we are wide awake and alert beta levelwaves go through our brain.

When we are relaxed and asleep these wavesslow down and become alpha level waves. Thisis a measurable physiological effect of stillingourselves.

There are two other levels below this: Thetaand Delta

THETA. Painless level. Can be a trance level. We have all seen people poke skewers throughtheir cheeks etc with no pain evidenced.Demons, take them into the theta levelthough trance.

DELTA LEVEL. Unconscious, almost dead.

It has been discovered that when a Christianor Occultist enters true stillness they enter theAlpha level brain wave activity.

It has also been proven that when you pray intongues you also enter this state, ie. Alphabrain wave level.

You see that quietening yourself before Godis not just a nebulous thing, you actually entera different state of being that can be measured.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ALPHA STATEOF STILLNESS

No time or space limits … You can see future

It will take time to become still; youhave to work at it. You will not get itright overnight.

Page 53: To Walk With God · 2015-07-13 · To Walk With God | 7 Foundation The Quest Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do

events. This is known as the fourthdimension.

In the Dream/Vision level Alpha Waves youhave maximum brain energy and learningcapacity.

Your dream visionary capacities areheightened.Your spirit awareness is heightened. This is the meditation state.

SO GOD SAYS BE STILL AND KNOW.

When you are still you enter another state ofawareness.

Speaking in tongues can also help still you.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips andanother tongue will he speak to this people.

Isaiah 28:12 To whom he said, This [is] the rest[wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; andthis [is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Paul uses this Scripture in 1 Cor 14:21 as anexample of speaking in tongues

Isa 28:12 says it will bring you into a rest

Psalms 4:4 Stand in awe, and sin not: communewith your own heart upon your bed, and be still.Selah.

Meditation on the ScripturesTo do this you must first come into a state ofstillness.

When you have reached a degree of stillness, you will know it.

These are some of the recognisable conditionsof stillness.

1) You will have a physical calm

2) A focussed attention. (distractions haveceased)

3) There is a state of letting go. (strivinghas stopped)

4) You are focussed and receptive.

Once you have reacheda certain level ofstillness. You can beginto meditate on aparticular Scripture orincident in Scripturequietly asking the Lorda question about it.

Example: You may be meditating on Adamin the Garden of Eden andquietly asking a question aboutit.

Then wait, meditate on it. Meditate on aparticular scene from the Scripture and let God(Take you into it) and show you just how itwas. Remember in the 4th dimension therealm of spirit Time and Space do not exist aswe know it.

God can teach you many things throughmeditation. That’s why David said.

Psa 119:9 “I have more understanding thanall my teachers, for thy testimonies are mymeditation”

This is a very powerful way of allowing theLord to teach you through meditation. Many times I use meditation in my study tounderstand the ways of the Lord. He will teachyou things this way, giving you insight intothe deep things of God

Meditation on the LordYou can use this same approach to meditateon the Lord and begin to experience Him.

Meditation on a wordYou can take just one word of Scripture, forinstance the word grace. Then meditate on it,muse, meditate quietly, ask and let the Lordbegin to show you what the word means.

There is a prophetic experience, which ishigher than the normal prophetic anointing, which takes you into this realm. In this state

The Art of becoming still yet focussedhas to be learned.

This state of stillness is recognisable, however it is hard to describe. Thereare degrees of stillness.

you walk through a prophetic word, and caninteract with it.

However today we arejust dealing withmeditation which givesyou an inroad into thisrealm.

There are far greater realms of thespirit for you to enter into. Theserealms are reserves for the hungry, determined, souls who wish to walkwith God as god intended us to.

Numbers 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words:If there be a prophet among you, [I] the LORDwill make myself known unto him in a vision,[and] will speak unto him in a dream.

Numbers 12:7 My servant Moses [is] not so, who[is] faithful in all mine house.

Numbers 12:8 With him will I speak mouth tomouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches;and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak againstmy servant Moses?

Dark SpeechesHebrew: chiydah, A puzzle Proverb, riddle.

Sometimes the Lord will speak to you this way.

The parables of the Kingdom in Matthew 13;are good examples of this. Each parable has aspiritual truth to it, but these parables are alsoprophetic and speak of seven church ages, whichwere to unfold throughout the ages.

Proverbs 25:2 [It is] the glory of God to conceal athing: but the honour of kings [is] to search out amatter.

God spoke to Pharaoh by using 10 plagues. Eachplague was directed at one of the God’s ofEgypt, and was a direct message to Pharaohthat the God of the Hebrews was the one trueGod.

God can give us signs that are a puzzle to usand often we miss them altogether. The Old Testament prophets where not awareof the full meaning of their prophesies. Theythought that their prophecies were eminent, for there time. While this was true, the main

import was for us in the end-times.

Failure to understand this leads to missinterpretation of Scripture.

Sometimes you awake with a song, and thatsong has a meaning but it is not always apparenton the surface what it means. You have to seekGod for a meaning.

The Similitude of the LordHebrew: temuwnah Strongs Number 8544

Meaning: Shape, Phantom Embodiment

The Hebrew does not suggest a clear preciseimage, but more of a form.

Job 4:16 It stood still, butI could not discern theform Hb (similitude)thereof: an image [was]before mine eyes, [therewas] silence, and I hearda voice, [saying],

Genesis 12:7 And the LORD appeared untoAbram,

Exodus 3:16 Go, and gather the elders of Israeltogether, and say unto them, The LORD God ofyour fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and ofJacob, appeared unto me,

I Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared toSolomon in a dream

I Kings 9:2 That the LORD appeared to Solomonthe second time, as he had appeared unto him atGibeon.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of oldunto me,

Acts 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and enteredinto the house; and putting his hands on him said,Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appearedunto thee in the way as thou camest,

Dark Speeches & the Similitude of

the Lord

Parables are one example of this.Often parables have a doublemeaning. The surface meaning whichis usually devotional and a propheticmeaning.

We see from these Scriptures that the Lordappeared to these people, they saw Hissimilitude and He talked with them.

We have studied how the Lord through theHoly Spirit speaks to us in spontaneousthought.

We also need to beaware that the Lord canand will speak to usdirect. This is differentthan spontaneousthought. It is the directvoice of the Lord and isexternal. You hear thiswith your ears or in the

spirit. It is a distinct voice.

You may ask; what does this sound like. Itsounds like a voice but not like your ownthoughts.

Angels also can speak to you this way.

The Similitude of the LordThese kind of appearances can be just in theform of light with a faint awareness of a form orthey can be very clear.

THE APPEARANCE OF JESUS THEPAROUSIA

We have entered into a period of time wherewe are going to see ever-increasingmanifestation of Jesus in this to His people.

THIS PERIOD OF TIME WE CALL THEPAROUSIA

Now this term has virtually always been usedexclusively in reference to the coming of theLord

IT DOES REFER TO THAT EVENT. BUT!NOT JUST TO THAT EVENT

The word: PAROUSIA Is a Greek word, whichmeans Presence.

However in the New Testament it is translated22 times as coming and just 2 times as presence.

The word Parousia also has the meaning of avisit.

Special preparations had to be made for thesevisits.

The word is used in ... I Corinthians 16:1 I amglad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatusand Achaicus: for that which was lacking on yourpart they have supplied.

It means a literal person’s presenceIt is used in 2 Peter 3:4 for the coming of theLord

II Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise ofhis coming? (Parousia) for since the fathers fellasleep, all things continue as [they were] from thebeginning of the creation.

In 2 Thes. It is used for the coming of the Antichrist.

Thessalonians 2:9 [Even him], whose coming isafter the working of Satan with all power andsigns and lying wonders,

It does not just refer to the Second Coming ofJesus.

It refers to a number of different things

The Parousia is a special time during the lastdays, when the presence of the Lord will comein special ways. He will begin to appear to Hispeople, and in His people.

The similitude of the Lord will be seen.

WE HAVE NOW ENTERED THISPERIOD OF TIME.

There are going to be ever increasingappearances of Jesus to His people

The book of Revelation is regarded as a book ofend -time events, and it is.

You have to get to know His voice. How do you know the voice of yourfriend? You know it because you haveheard it often enough to know it. It isthe same with the Lord.

In the classic or Hellenistic Greek itwas a technical word used for the visitof an important person.

Jesus will come to Hispeople before He comes

for them
