Areas of Application
The PALLMANN Classifier Mill, type PCM is a very flexible machine for the production of finest powder with a defined maximum particle size. Materials with a hardness of up to 3,5 Mohs can be processed. The combination of size reduction and dynamic air classifying within one housing allows for optimum processing of soft to medium hard materials. The main areas of application of the mill can be found for example in the chemical-, food-, mineral-, metal-, powder paint and pharmaceutical industry.

Method of operation
The feed material is pneumatically transported into the Classifier Mill, type PCM. Size reduction is per-formed between the rotating grinding elements of the grinding disc and a stationary grinding path. The size-reduced material is transported into the classifier wheel by means of an upward airflow. Particles with the desired fineness are transported through the beater plates of the classifying wheel and are guided with the airflow into a process filter in order to be discharged.
Coarse materials, rejected by the classifying wheel, are reintroduced into the grinding zone for further grinding. Due to the infinitely adjustable speed of the grinding disc and classifier wheel, the desired end fineness and the particle distribution curve are easily adjustable.

Design
The PALLMANN Classifier Mill, type PCM has a modular design for maximum flexibility. The mate-rial to be size reduced is pneumatically fed in order to allow for maximum throughput capacity. Further-more this allows for high flexibility in the system planning as well as reduced sound emission. The air inlet openings and the grinding chamber are flow-optimized. Pressure drop in the mill is low. The interior design effectively prevents product build-up.The grinding disc, guide ring, classifier as well as components in contact with the product in the grin-ding chamber are manufactured out of castings, steel or stainless steel. Surface treatment corres-ponds to the area of application. Product inlet, grin-ding hammers or pins, grinding disc, grinding path, classifier wheel, mill cover and product discharge can be ordered in wear-resistant ceramic design. The speed of the grinding disc and the classifier can be infinitely adjusted by means of a frequency regulator. This allows for infinite adjustment of the particle size distribution of the end product during operation.The grinding discs and grinding elements can be delivered in various sizes and materials. Classifier Mills, type PCM can be designed pressure shock-resistant up to 10 bar.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The divided housing allows for optimum access into the interior of the mill. The mill cover can quickly be opened manually or by means of an electric drive. All mill components can be easily dismantled verti-cally out of the mill, when open. The rotor bearing is also mounted by means of bolting from above and can be easily and quickly dismantled. Worn grinding elements are easily ex-changeable. Easy cleaning of the mill interior upon product change.

Grinding-and size reduction elements
The grinding discs and classifying elements are available in different sizes and materials. The se-lection of the suitable combination is performed based on the formulation of the feed material and the desired end fineness.
Classifying wheels of the integrated classifier
The classifying wheels of the dynamic classifier for the mill, type PCM are available in different heights and with varying numbers of classifier blades. The classifier blades can be arranged in either slanted or radial design. The selection of the best suitab-le classifier wheel depends on test results and our performance data.
