To see the animated figures, view the slides in slideshow mode. Multiple methods can be used to optimize the expansion/contraction percept. 1. Fixate on the blue dot. 2. Fixate on the center of the screen where the red cross-hairs would intersect. (at the ) 3. Hold a pencil several inches from the screen so that its blunt end appears in the center (or slightly below center) of the slide. Close one eye and fixate on the end of the pencil. In all methods, visual fixation must be held while the figure moves past the central vision. Visual tracking of the object will prevent perception of the effect.
