The Arboricultural Journal OnlineThe Arboricultural Journal has been in existence nearly as long as the AA itself. Both new and past issues form an essential resource to the practising (or studying) arborist or arboriculturalist. Our members (excluding Ordinary or Corporate members) can access the full library of back issues online. Shortly after joining or renewing your membership you will be able to access the journal by logging into the members’ area at www.trees.org.uk. FREE Entry to our Annual ARB Show The 2017 ARB Show returns to its home at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum on 12 and 13 May 2017. The ARB Show has gone from strength to strength and now attracts over 3,000 visitors and exhibitors from all areas of the industry. The Show also hosts the final of the

3ATC tree climbing championships and with free workshops at the AA tent, FREE access to the Arboretum and overnight camping available, it is well worth a visit!

Making your Voice HeardWe work hard to represent our members’ opinions in both the UK and internationally; this year we have made great strides engaging with government, ministers and peers to influence policy makers on the many values of amenity trees. We continually emphasise the importance of quality tree care delivered by highly trained and conscientious arboricultural professionals To inform the direction of our work you may receive questionnaires a couple of times a year asking for your opinion on both the Association and key issues in the industry. Part of the International Arboricultural CommunityIn 2016 we became an Associate Organisation of the ISA, giving members access to a global Arboriculture network. In early 2014 we signed a memorandum of understanding with Arboriculture Australia and began sharing ideas, information and expertise. We also have a significant global membership with members throughout Europe and in Hong Kong, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago, USA and Japan.

Member Benefits Partners Supporting AA members in times of need.Perennial is a charity dedicated to the support of arborists and horticulturists since 1839. In 2015 the AA became a partner and corporate supporter of the organisation. In return Perennial provides AA members free, confidential advice, support and financial assistance to members and their families whether they are working in or retired from arboriculture and horticulture. The charity steps in when members are facing challenges of ill health, financial difficulties, accidents, redundancy and bereavement. Help and advice is provided through a team of caseworkers who are experts in a wide range of financial, personal and family issues. www.perennial.org.uk

Federation of Small Businesses waives £30 registration fee. Membership of the FSB costs from only £125 per year and as a special dispensation for AA members will waive the £30 Registration fee. For a small membership fee the Federation of Small Businesses provides a large range of discounted business services ranging from reduced banking and card processing, fuel, legal, insurance and telecom costs – to name a few. The FSB is also very active lobbying government at all levels across the country on behalf of small businesses.Members of FSB will often make savings of over £1,500 a year by accessing the discounts and services that the FSB provides. www.fsb.org.uk

ISA CertificationISA Certifications are a great step in getting global recognition for your individual skills and experience complements our own accreditations (Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor and Registered Consultant) and memberships routes.Currently the AA are assisting ISA with administering the following programs in the UK and Ireland:

ISA CERTIFIED ARBORIST®To earn an ISA Certified Arborist® credential, you must be trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of arboriculture. Apply online through the ISA website and check www.trees.org.uk for exam opportunities in 2017.
