Amy M. Smith lives in Texas with her husband and her cat. She has been a Spanish teacherfor six years in both jr. high and high school. With six younger siblings, children’s literature wasa part of Amy’s life long a f er she was too cool to enjoy or appreciate it. As an adult, she has found anew love for children’s literature and has wri en several poems and short stories for young readers.Her wri t ng has appeared in Beyond Centauri and Tales of the Talisman as well as several e-zines.

Lisa Victoria. Inspired greatly by nature, Lisa incorporates both elements of whimsy and fantasy tocreate enchanting images which she is thrilled to have collected worldwide. She holds an MFA inillustra t on from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, and has been working as a professionalfreelance ar t st since 1999. with stomping hooves and owing mane,a horse longs

Somewhere racing across the land,



for the silvery hornthat would set him apartas a creature of envied enchantment.

Somewhere in the shimmering sea,the tail of a sh icks and ails

as he pictures his scales



as those of a mer-creaturefull of grace and beauty

and magical allure.

Somewhere, roaming his earthly throne,

the king of the jungle lls his roar with the power



of the mighty gryphonand pretends that he is ruler

of a forgotten realm.

Somewhere, scuttling across the ground,a lowly lizard prays

for wings and strength



and ery breathand the respect duea fearsome dragon.

Somewhere amid a sprawling forest,the grasping branches of a sapling

reach heavenward and imagine



a dryad‛

s soul that would give itliberty to roam and wander

free from its constraining roots.

Somewhere, under a starry night,with sleepy eyes and hazy thoughts,



a child dreamsof magic touch and pixie wings



and an enchanted lifeworthy of legend.
