.;.t the Congregational meeting on February 25th. the Board of Trustees
was requested to invite tenders for the re -·finishing of the b a s ement o f
the Church using a gyprock ceiling and plywood walls. Of the six contractors
who were consulted the large majority were not in favour of these materials
and recommended acoustic tile c eilings and insulated block walls. Their
reason for doing so was that the plywood and gyprock would not be satisfactory
because of dampness in a room below ground level. The Trustees speci fied
that prices be given in the tenders for both ty,pes of construction. Thecost
of each method is approximately the same. Therefore, the Trustees recommend
to the Co:migregation:
First - that the construction of block wall, insulated with styrofoe.m,and
an acoustic tile ceiling be approved.
Seco?!_9: - that, the lowest tender, which was that of R.& W. Vail, be accepted
in the amount of two thousand, eight hundred and ninet y-four dollars.
I!_lird - that the amount of money requested by the Trustee Board for the
re-finishing of the basement be increas ed from three thousand to
four thousand dollars, in order that the kitchen and washroom may
be finished at this time. These items are not included in the
above tender. The Congregation are asked to note that the above
tender includes a second oil furnace and adequate lighting of the
fturch grounds. Lights in the basement will be those presently in use.
In closing this report, I would like to thank everyone who heiped in any
way to prepare the basement for this work, and I would especially- like to
thank Carl Durant for preparing the specifications to present to the
<?on tractors.

To Rev. John Cook, on leaving the Augusta Charge
And now our dear Reverend You're goinp away, We all wAnt to wish you The be st ev' ry day.
As you travel westward And the miles roll along, We hope vou111 remember Our tribute in song.
Now do you remember What you ' ve told us to do. "The hymns must be faster," And we puffed to please you
And who is it always Who holds that last note? We all hold our breath With eys buggin out.
Then there was the morn ing There was no chair. We all tho't we'd see you Fall on your derrieret
Composed bv members of the Maynard Choir, led by Mrs. Rose Baga .
We all can recall The time you switched hymns. What a horrible morning We had the wham whims!
To keep you from running Up and down stairs We hope t hey 'll pipe water Right up to your chair.
We hope vou will take this all in good jest .
In spite of it all We think you're the best !
And when that old buP,le At dawn you've eard Perhaps you will wish, once , You were back on the Third.
Rev. John Cook undertook to train the choir with Mrs. Rose Haga, organist. This poem illustrates that it was all good fun, and it did have excellent re sult s .
Mr. Cook, with his wife, JoAnn , and crildren, Linda, Heather and John served this charge 1961 - 1966
