OBJECTIVE
GIS Graphical Information System
A Graphical Information System in its simplest form is just a Map.
It does not have to be a electronic map. However in modern terms it is used to describe electronic mapping.

World Geodetic System 1984 The World Geodetic System is a standard
for use in cartography, geodesy, and navigation. It comprises a standard coordinate frame for the Earth, a standard spherodial reference surface (the datum or reference ellipsoid) for raw altitude data, and a gravitational equipotential surface (the geoid) that defines the nominal sea level.

Survey Recreational GPS receivers are sold at most box stores and at many sporting goods and camping stores. They are also availablewidely through Internet retailers. At Least 3 satellites required for a good fix.
Does not provide the accuracy needed for utilities.

Survey Mapping GPS receivers are typically less user-friendly than the Recreational GPS units, and they cost significantly more. Mapping grade GPS are more accurate than recreational units, commonly to within one meter (approximately 3 feet).
In this class we are teaching how to use highly accurate Mapping units to gather field data within an accuracy of 1 meter ..

Trilateration involves the determination of absolute or relative locations of points by measurement of distances, using the geomerty of spheres or triangle but does not involve the measurement of angles.
