To explore, dream and discover, to catch the wind and move away from safe harbours, are a driving force in sailing as well as in art. When we suggested the Organizers of the 32nd America’s Cup to create an Art Edition for the event, the idea was right away accepted. The experience we had gathered doing the Official Art Edition 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ gave us a vision of how to venture into this new field of creating art within the framework of a major international sports event.

However, we wanted the Art Edition 32nd America’s Cup to head off on a different tack. And so the decision was made that part of the Art Edition should be made in a live produc-tion of art at the races and side events in Valencia.

Renowned German artists Andree Korpys and Markus Loef-fler were invited to join the America’s Cup and make a video film documenting the initial events and scenes. Series of vid-eo stills were then extracted from the Korpys and Loeffler art shoot and made into art prints. The individual images of

the Korpys and Loeffler Art Shoots maintain the aesthetic quality as well as the format (16 : 9) of video stills. Each of the art prints carries the Time Code of the video, giving the exact moment of the shoot. The Korpys and Loeffler Art Shoots are presented in the first part of this booklet.The second part is devoted to art works on sailing by some of the most prestigious names in contemporary art: Luis Gis-pert (USA), Denver (ARG), Marcos López (ARG), John Goto (UK), Sergio Belichón (ES), and William Greiner (USA).

It was our aim to create an Art Edition for the 32nd America’s Cup that should, on the one hand, be an exclusive high-end Official Licensed Product and, on the other hand, be made available at an affordable price. We have achieved both: Each of the art prints presented in this booklet is manufactured and sold in a strictly limited edition of 150 pieces. Prices for individual prints start at 69 €. Art Shoots A to R shown in this booklet suggest possible series of images. We encourage the readers of this booklet to take a creative stance and recom-bine individual images to form new series.

Luis Gispert lives in Brooklyn, NY. His contemporary style reflects his upbringing during the seventies. Gispert brings together disparate elements from art history and contempo-rary culture and transforms his ideas to glamorous aesthet-ics. In his photographs and videos, Sergio Belinchón creates visions of urban life. In his photographic series for the Art Edition 32nd America’s Cup, the artist portrays Port Ameri-ca’s Cup awaiting the sailing events. The shots were taken in November 2006.

Sergio Belinchón has received several high-ranking awards for his photo art. His works have been included in interna-tionally renowned collections, such as the collection of the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Spain. Belinchón lives in Berlin and Valencia.
