Brandenburg Gates and Siegessäule
The Brandenburg Gates Commissioned by Friedrich Wilhelm II to
represent peace, the Gates were designed by Karl Gotthard Langhans and haven’t changed since 1791. They was incorporated into the Berlin wall during the years of Communist government and now stand as a symbol of the reunification of Berlin and Germany.
Siegessäule Also known as the Victory Column, the Siegessäule
was constructed to celebrate the military successes of Prussia over Denmark. It was moved in 1938, by Hitler, from in front of the Reichstag to where it is today, in the center of Tiergarten. It provides an excellent view of Berlin from the top.
