UJALA and Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) of the central government has completed five successful years on January 5, 2020. Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) is the world’s largest streetlight replacement programme. Nearly 1.03 crore smart LED streetlights have been installed till date, enabling an estimated energy savings of 6.97 billion kWh per year Both have been spearheaded and implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA), also known as Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs
for All, was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 1 May 2015, replacing the "Bachat Lamp
Yojana". The project is spearheaded by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited. In non-subsidized LED
lamp distribution projects, this program is considered the world's largest. In May 2017, the Government of
India announced that they were expanding the LED distribution project to the United Kingdom.

Sucheta Satish, who can won the Global Child Prodigy Awards
2020. The award recognized her twin world records for singing in most languages during one concert and the longest live singing concert by a child.
The 13-year-old known is as the Dubai Indian High School's nightingale. Along with Sucheta Satish, 100 other Global Child prodigies across the world were
honoured at the award ceremony in different categories. The award recognized her twin world records for singing in most languages during one concert and the longest live singing concert by a child.
She had set as a 12-year-old two years ago in Dubai at the Indian Consulate Auditorium. During the concert, she sang in 102 languages over 6.15 hours.
ISRO proposes to set up Human space flight centre in challakere
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has proposed a Rs.2,700 crore master plan to create a top infrastructure that will house its young Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC). The HSFC was formally announced in January 2019. It currently works from a temporary place at the ISRO headquarters, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Reason to set up HSFC: India is currently paying a huge sum to Russia for the training of the first set of four astronaut candidates for the first Gaganyaan mission of 2022. Also, HSP work is split across various centres like Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram and the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru.

India has extended a line of credit (LOC) of $75
million to Cuba for financing solar parks
The announced was made by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The move comes following the agreement signed between Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) and Banco Exterior De Cuba on 16 July 2019 that came into effect from 12 December 2019. Banco Exterior De Cuba is a nominated agency of the Cuban government. The agreement was signed for the purpose of financing the installation of 75 MW Photovoltaic Solar Parks in the Republic of Cuba.
Agreement: ♦ Under the LOC, the terminal utilization period is 5 years after the scheduled completion date of the project. ♦ According to the agreement, financing of export of eligible goods and services from India would be allowed subject to their being eligible for export under the Foreign Trade Policy.
Govt rolls out the 2nd phase of IMI 2.0 in UP
The scheme ensures the children under the age of 2 years and pregnant women are immunized against eight vaccine-preventable diseases
The second phase of Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 was rolled out at block level in 35 districts of Uttar Pradesh on 6 January 2020. It will cover 425 blocks of 73 districts of the Uttar Pradesh state. Aim:The drive aims to prevent 8 diseases under the mission. The scheme ensures the children under the age of 2 years and pregnant women are immunized against eight vaccine-preventable diseases. Second phase in UP: Under the program the government has planned to provide the immunization activity four rounds over seven working days excluding the Regular immunization days, Sundays and holidays.

Mizoram state government is organizing the Zo Festival from 9
January 2020. The festival is a part of the State's endeavour to unify different tribes of Mizo. The Festival will be organized under the banner Zo Kutpui in at least 10 different cities across the globe. Aim: The aim of the celebration of the Zo Festival is to reunify and strengthen the brotherhood among different tribes of Mizo. Zo Festival: ♦ The first festival will be held at Vanghmun, a hub town of Mizos in neighbouring Tripura from 9-11 January 2020. It will be graced by the Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga. The event will witness cultural programmes and traditional songs from various Mizo tribes from Mizoram and other northeastern states.
