The Poster Contest is open to all Orange County students in grades 2-12, and the Speech Contest is open to students in grades 9-12. This year’s theme is “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law.” The deadline to submit entries for each contest is Friday, February 27, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. Please have your students’ posters and/or speeches delivered to the Orange County Bar Association, which is located at 880 North Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801. If you have any questions regarding the contest, please contact Phil Gordin at 407-418-6520 or Lisa Marcum at 407-838- 4078; or contact via email at [email protected] or [email protected]. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in each category. Each first place winner will also receive a $200 cash prize, second place winners receive a $100 cash prize, and third place receives a $75 cash prize. All winners and their parents or school official will be invited to the Orange County Bar Association’s annual Law Day luncheon at the Church Street Station Ballroom at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The winning entries will be exhibited at this special luncheon. In addition, OCBA representatives will select one special winning entry as “Best in Show” and provide the winner with a $250.00 cash prize and the teacher of that student will receive a check in the amount of $150.00. “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law” PURPOSE: To encourage our youth to recognize and learn about our nation’s commitment to the rule of law, justice and equaliy.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to full-time students enrolled in grades 2 through 12 in all Orange County schools

(traditional, virtual or home) DEADLINE: Friday, February 27, 2015, at 4:00 p.m.

Delivery to the Orange County Bar Association, 880 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida THEME: “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law”

CATEGORIES: Grades 2-5 / Grades 6-8 / Grades 9-12 AWARDS: Best-in-show: $250.00 (from the combined categories)

Best-in-show teacher: $150.00 1st place: $200.00 cash award (per category) 2nd place: $100.00 cash award (per category) 3rd place: $75.00 cash award (per category)

All winners, their parents and teacher (or school administrator) will be honored guests at the Orange County Bar Association’s Law Day Luncheon.

RULES: ► Must be original and may use any art form which may be mounted on a poster board no

larger than 22” by 28” (i.e., collage, paint, crayons, charcoal, pen and ink). ►The winning entries will be displayed at the OCBA Law Day Luncheon. ►Entries will not be returned to contestants. ►An entry form must be completed and submitted with each entry. (Blank form on the following page.) ►Submission without an Entry Form attached will not be judged.

JUDGING: All posters will be judged by members of the Orange County Bar Association and their

associates. Entries will be judged on content and creativity in expressing the theme.
