TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
TMF500-E is based on a 32Bit RISC technology and embeds a keyboard for theaccess to the setup menu and data entry, and a wide LCD display, a double serialcommunication port RS232 or RS485 3kVA insulated, double USB port, an Ethernetport 10/100Mbits, a 32MB internal memory and an integrated Web Server. The unit hasa great number of analog and digital I/O (up to 96), so it is the perfect instrument forremote monitoring, controls and data acquisition systems.
The unit has been designed to operate in an wide range of temperature (from - 30 to +70C) and with a very low current consumption (< 1W). It can be used in applicationswhere the citizen power network is not available and must be powered by solar panels,lithium battery packs or other power sources like wind generators.
The TMF500E is an ETS device (Easy to Install) thanks to the mechanical coupling toa DIN BAR, and it is easy to be programmed both in local or remote mode by adedicate web-page. The on board Embedded Linux operating system, can be used todevelop customized routines.
The TMF500E is a multipurpose intelligent device to manage meteorological stations (AWS
Automatic Weather Stations), tide gauges, ADCPs, current meters and other SCADA devices.
Each unit is composed of a microcomputer programmed to acquire, normalize and process in-
field data. Collected data can be displayed locally using the embedded GUI (LCD display +
keyboard). The unit can be connected to a local or remote Control Centre via TCP-IP using
the secure built-in FTP and an HTTP servers. Each unit has an unique IP to allow a multi
station data network. The CPU embeds a Linux operating system and can host user programs
in C-Language.

Best performances of the
TMF500-E can be obtained
using the Envirtech SCADA
software envHydro. The user
can manage, by a centralized
position, many sensors and
actuators everywhere located
in the world. On the right the
screenshots show a typical
application of envHydro and
many control units deployed
in field for dams remote
control.
When used to receive data
from Envirtech Buoys, Adcp
and weather stations the unit
can be programmed to
process collected data and to
show them on the local
display. The software
envHydro, running on a local
PC, can also be used to show
collected meteorological and
oceanographic data, as well
as sea waves spectra and
3D currents.
The outdoor configuration can
be used to collect data
coming from area not covered
by public networks, using
VHF or UHF communications
and relaying them on a
public network, like cabled
xDSL-ADSL, WAN or
Satellites.

APPLICATION NOTE
The TMF500-E concentrator in a
typical application. Data coming from
in-field instruments are collected and
after normalization and mathematical
processing, are stored in local
Memory card. The embedded
FTP/HTTP server can be queried by
external clients, via the TCP-IP port
using a radio modem or a GPRS/Edge
terminal. In the picture on the right a
licence free radio modem is used to
transmit data to a control center.
