CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Another joyous milestone has been reached! On Valentine’s Day, the final construction beam was placed on our new building during a special Topping Off celebration for our new House, which is now ready to go under roof at 1 Aisquith Street in the Jonestown neighborhood of Baltimore. Mayor Catherine Pugh and some of our biggest supporters and closest friends joined us for a heart-filled morning which included beam signings, a beam raising with 563 dangling hearts representing the number of families turned away from the current House last year due to limited space, and an unforgettable countdown led by 8-year-old Ryder who has been a returning guest at the House with his family for several years.

We can’t think of a better way to have celebrated Valentine’s Day than to Top Off the new House that Love Built and clear the way for construction to move to the interior as building plans for our new House stay on track. Ryder is a RMHCB Guest who has stayed with us on and off throughout his 8 years! He wants to grow up to be an architect, so we sent him to inspect the New House site. He approved and told our building team that it all looked “pretty accurate”! We were so happy to have Ryder’s approval that we asked him to help us raise the final beam at the Topping Off ceremony! “Ryder suffered a Stroke in Utero and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy just before his 1st Birthday. We had no clue what his future would look like… would he walk, talk, jump, play? He is now 8-years-old and to say he can do all of those things is an understatement. Through years of therapy and various procedures he has overcome many battles and continues to amaze us daily. The Ronald McDonald House Charities Baltimore and the entire Community make the families feel so special and so loved. We are forever grateful for this charity and what it means to us! ” – Brandy, Ryder’s mom
