SECTION IINTRODUCTION
1 . S c o p e
This manual lists repair parts required for perfor-mance of organizationa maintenance of the AN/TPX-50.
2 . G e n e r a l
This Repair Parts and Special Tools List is divided intothe following sections:
a. Section II. Repair Parts List. A list of repairparts authorized for use in the performance of mainte-nance. The list also includes parts which must be re-moved for replacement of the authorized parts. Partslists are composed of functional groups in ascendingnumerical sequence, with the parts in each grouplisted in figure and item number sequence.
b. Section III. Special Tool List. Not applicable.c. Section IV. National Stock Number and Part
Number Index. A list, in ascending numerical se-quence, of all National stock numbers appearing in thelistings, followed by a list, in alphanumeric sequence,of all part numbers appearing in the listings. Nationalstock numbers and part numbers are cross-referencedto each illustration figure and item number appear-ance.
3. Explanation of Columns
The following provides an explanation of columnsfound in the tabular listings
a. Illustration. This column is divided as follows(1) Figure number. Indicates the figure number of
the illustration in which the item is shown.(2) Item number. The number used to identify
each item called out in the illustration.b. Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability Codes
(SMR).(1) Source code. Source codes are assigned to sup
port items to indicate the manner of acquiring supportitems for maintenance, repair, or overhaul of enditems. Source codes are entered in the first and secondpositions of the Uniform SMR Code format as follows:Code DefinitionPA–Item procured and stocked for anticipated or
known usage.PD–Support item, excluding support equipment, pro-
cured for initial issue or outfitting and stockedonly for subsequent or additional initial issuesor outfittings. Not subject to automatic replen-ishment.
NOTECannibalization or salvage may be used as a

source of supply for any items source codedabove except three coded XA, XD, and air-craft support items as restricted by AR700-42.(2) Maintenance code. Maintenance codes are as-
signed to indicate the levels of maintenance authorizedto USE and REPAIR support items. The maintenancecodes are entered in the third and fourth positions ofthe Uniform SMR Code format as follows
(a) The maintenance code entered in the thirdposition will indicate the lowest maintenance level au-thorized to remove, replace, and use the support item.The maintenance code entered in the third positionwill indicate the following level of maintenance:
Application/Explanation0-Support item is removed, replaced, used at the or-
ganizational level.(b) The maintenance code entered in the fourth
position indicates whether the item is to be repairedand identifies the lowest maintenance level with thecapability to perform complete repair (i.e., all author-ized maintenance functions). This position will containone of the following maintenance codes:Code Application/ExplantionF–The lowest maintenance level capable of complete
repair of the support item is the direct supportlevel.
D-The lowest maintenance level capable of completerepair of the support item is the depot level, per-formed by depot.
Z-Nonreparable. No repair is authorized.(3) Recoverability code. Recoverability codes are
assigned to support items to indicate the dispositionaction on unserviceable items. The recoverability codeis entered in the fifth position of the Uniform SMRCode format as follows:
RecoverabilityCodes Definition
Z-Nonreparable item. When unserviceable, condemnand dispose at the level indicated in position 3.
F-Reparable item. When uneconomically reparable,condemn and dispose at the direct support level.
D-Reparable item. When beyond lower level repaircapability, return to depot. Condemnation anddisposal not authorized below depot level.
L-Reparable item. Repair, condemnation, and dis-posal not authorized below depot/specializes re-pair activity level.
c. National Stock Number. Indicates the Nationalstock number assigned to the item and will be used for

requisitioning purposes.d. Part Number. Indicates the primary number used
by the manufacturer (individual, company, firm, cor-poration, or Government activity), which controls thedesign and characteristics of the item by means of itsengineering drawings, specification standards, and in-spection requirements, to identify an item or range ofitems.

NOTEWhen a stock-numbered item is requisi-tioned, the repair part received may have adifferent part number than the part being re-placed.Federal Supply Code for Manufacturer (FSCM)FSCM is a 5-digit numeric code listed in SB
708-42 which is used to identify the manufacturer,distributor, or Government agency, etc.
f. Description. Indicates the Federal item name and,if required, a minimum description to identify theitem.
g. Unit of Measure (U/M). Indicates the standard ofthe basic quantity of the listed item as used in per-forming the actual maintenance function. This meas-ure is expressed by a two-character alphabetical abbre-viation (e.g., ea, in, pr, etc.). When the unit of measurediffers from the unit of issue, the lowest unit of issuethat will satisfy the required units of measure will berequisitioned.
h. Quantity Incorporated in Unit. Indicates thequantity of the item used in the breakout shown on theillustration figure, which is prepared for a functionalgroup, subfunctional group, or an assembly. A “V” ap-pearing in this column in lieu of a quantity indicatesthat no specific quantity is applicable, (e.g., shims,spacers, etc.).
4. Special Information
a. The following publication pertains to the AN/TPX-50 and its components
TM 11-5895-687-12, Interrogator Set AN/TPX-50.
b. The illustrations in this manual are identical tothose published in TM 11-5895-687-34P-1, TM11-5895-887-34P-2, TM 11-5895-687-34P-3, andTM 11-5895-687-34P-4. Only those parts assigned
the third position SMR maintenance code “O” are list-ed in the tabular listing; therefore, there may be abreak in the item number sequence. Only illustrationscontaining organizational authorized items appear inthis manual.
c. National stock numbers (NSN's) that are missingfrom P source-coded items have been applied for andwill be added to this TM by future change/revisionwhen they are entered in the Army Master Data File(AMDF). Until the NSN’s are established and publisted, submit exception requisitions to: Commander,US Army Electronics Command, ATTN: DRSEL-MM,Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703 for the part required tosupport your equipment.
5. How to Locate Repair Parts
a. When National stock number or part number isunknown:
(1) First. Using the table of contents, determinethe functional group or subgroup within which therepair part belongs. This is necessary since illustrationsare prepared for functional groups or subgroups, andlistings are divided into the same groups.
(2) Second. Find the illustration covering func-tional group or subgroup to which the repair part be-longs.
(3) Third. Identify the repair part on the illustra-tion and note the illustration figure and item numberof the repair part.
(4) Fourth. Using the Repair Parts Listing, findthe figure and item number noted on the illustration.
b. When National stock number or part number isknown:
(1) First. Using the Index of National Stock Num-bers and Part Numbers, find the pertinent Nationalstock number or part number. This index is in ascend-ing NSN sequence, followed by a list of part numbersin ascending alphanumeric sequence, cross-referencedto the illustration figure number and item number.
(2) Second. After finding the figure and itemnumber, locate the figure and item number in the re-pair parts list.
