THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH March 20,2013 To Whom It May Concern: I highly recommend Mira Jones for a position as a special education teacher in your district Mira was a student in my "Inclusion for Secondary Students" special education course Summer2012 and was my supervisee for her special education practicum in Fall 2012. I currently supervise Mira for her Spring 2013 student teaching as well. Due to the high level of involvement and support roles I have had throughout Mira's master's program, I am well suited to provide this letter of recommendation for Mira. Mira would be an excellent addition to your district because she focuses on continuous professional development, has outstanding time management and planning skills, and prioritizes the improvement of all students in her teaching. One of the most valuable attributes to have when working in schools is the desire to pursue continuous development. This particular attribute is very visible in Mira's actions in the classroom. Mira has sought out additional resources, support, and advice throughout her experience working with students. Additionally, Mira follows through on the resources that she obtains. For example, Mira expressed that a student in her 5 th grade class was having trouble solving problems involving fractions. I provided her with conceptual models to assist this student, and she not only implemented them successfully, but also incorporated them in her teaching of other students. Mira's desire to continue to develop her already strong foundation in teaching will certainly allow her to facilitate student success. Mira has impressed me in my courses, as well as throughout her field practicum and student teaching, perhaps the most in her time management and long term planning. Mira has demonstrated a high level of professionalism in scheduling observations and meetings. In January, Mira scheduled all four of her observations and both of her site meetings with me for the entire semester. This not only was an impressive instance of her scheduling and time management, but also her consideration for other individuals' needs and schedules. Mira also received one of the highest grades in my class over the summer, in part due to her ability to complete assignments in advance and with high quality. I have no doubt that Mira will be able to use her time management and scheduling skills in teaching positions to facilitate effective collaboration with parents and school faculty. t;~~;7 tLr:~r/ Q~ t~~/ ~ Sf // '" www.ed.utah.edu/sped/

EDUCATION------------------. I. THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH

With the impetus to improve the academic and behavioral outcomes of all students, manyschool districts emphasize the use of data for decision-making. Mira's cooperating teacher,Mary Mahoney, has commented on several occasions her appreciation for Mira's use of datato design interventions and strategies. Mira conducted a functional behavior assessmentfor students engaging in off-task behavior in Mary's class, and was able to determine thateach of the four different students' off-task behavior were influenced by slightly differentfunctions. This information allowed Mira to create and implement effective individualizedbehavior support plans. Mira's consistent use of behavioral and academic progressmonitoring data allows her to effectively instruct all students to reach their full potential.

I highly recommend Mira for a special education position and believe she would be an assetto your district. Please contact me if you have any additional questions regarding Mira'squalifications and experience.

Sincerely,

Kaitlin Bundock, M.Ed.
